I'm a RSO (red polo) at a gun store and if your controlled and safe we allow rapid fire. I did 2.47 at 5 yards, your flying getting under 2 with a smaller target. Well done!
I’m 99.9999% sure I will die before being able to draw from concealment and put 6 rounds into a 4X6” box from 7 yards in 2 seconds, and I practice plenty (or I did before summer of 2020). But I’ll keep trying! Excellent shooting Aaron.👍🏻
I love that my range changed their rules about rapid fire. We still can’t draw from a holster but we can fire as fast as we can as long as we’re on target and not hitting the walls and ceiling.
I've been playing around with speed during my league nights recently. It is an interesting beast to tame, as little as a 13% change in time on a course can cause utter failure of accuracy.
I've pulled out my old Tokyo Marui G17 green gas GBB airsoft to try to get some semblance of "recoil" practice without BBs. Obviously, the slide and barrel are mostly plastic which does not impart all that much force when cycling. I would rate it less than a .22 pistol recoil. How close would you rate the recoil of the Coolfire to, say, live 9mm? I was looking at that as a recoil dryfire practice solution, but not sure if my poor man's airsoft is close enough to the Coolfire, or if it warrants a serious look over airsoft.
@@L-H-B it’s not super close to a 9mm. But feels like more than a .22. Biggest ups I have on the coolfire is that it’s your trigger, and everything. I can get a lot of reps in. Trigger control, draws, dot acquisition, reloads, transitions. It’s been great just being able to practice with the RMR.
Me: "I hate the bill drill. I've been trying for three months and can't even sniff a sub two second time." Aaron: "I've been chasing this drill for 10 years." Me: "... Uh, oh."
Not taking anything away from his shooting (it's fantastic!) but...remember he's doing this with a larger gun, with a compensator, the weight of a light, and who knows what other modifications (tungsten guide rod? Trigger work?) The recoil he has do deal with is less than what you're experiencing with your P365/Shield/etc. Again, no criticism intended; I'm just pointing out that the average person should not expect to ever make the 2 second par time with a bone stock pistol--especially a sub-compact. Best wishes to us all!
I thought the same thing as soon as I heard that. But to be fair, Aaron puts out a lot of good information and says a lot of words in the process. An occasional slip up is bound to happen.
The problem with doing this drill on an indoor range is most people can't handle recoil properly and end up hitting the ceiling.. then you have those who can and the others who can't wanna mimick thinking the next guy is just mag dumping when he's actually running a drill. So they just say no to begin with that way it cuts down on ceiling hits
I dry fire this drill from surrender OWB with a SIRT pistol on an 8” circle - can get down to below 1.80 - no recoil - but live fire @ 7 yds I can’t seem to get below 2.25 , either with irons or a dot - but printing fist sized groups so maybe stressing about missing is slowing my trigger - a sub second draw on target is a tough gig for me too - only been shooting a year - however this drill can be an expensive addiction My favourite is the F.A.S.T drill - I don’t know if Aaron’s done a demo on that but I feel it really leaves no shade as to your overall mechanics
I appreciate your honesty with your limitations and your willingness to consult with and learn from others. That is more inspirational than watching a certain aimbot show off while just repeating that people need more reps. Thanks for being human.
I was trying to figure out the whole video why the bill drill was so hard for you, other than of course the reduced size A zone. A sub 2 second part time puts things in perspective. I’m usually hovering in the 2.2-2.4 range, just need to work on the efficiency of my draw.
I’m having trouble dropping my splits bell .30 & I believe I am over confirming my dot. Waiting until it becomes stable and thus burning time on the clock
At this distance and cadence, are you really seeing the dot/reticle or simply boxing the RDS window on the target? What would be cooler would be shooting a COL Cooper driven Norma Spec 10mm., not 9mm bunny farts unless one carries John Wick amount of spare mags for EDC. I see too many mag dumping in videos; a bad habit, IMHO, unless using the drill sparingly to check grip. With the number of perps attacking people nowadays, ammo management is more important than ever. If one can help it, one never wants to run black on ammo!
