1) People get angry about street racing 2) Race track is built out away from people 3) Property values are low because of proximity to race track 4) People looking to build a home, and developers buy up land around race track because it's dirt cheap 5) Land develops and people move in 6) People complain about the noise of the racetrack they moved in next to 7) race track shuts down 8) People start street racing again 9) see 1.

I hope they can make peace with the residents. The attitude of the owner, foreman, and other workers is very enthusiastic.

Racetracks in country areas should think about having a crawler course and a mud pit. It costs nothing compared to the actual track and the locals would probably get more use out of it. I don't know any farmers with a Lotus Elise but I know a lot of them who'd love a place to play with their 4WD that has a tow truck on site that can get them unstuck.

The track was there first , new houses can get bend if they don't like the noise.

Our local speedway track closed this year, Archerfield, so much history and family & community gone. Drive-In Theaters as well. Well done lads. I was on the verge of selling my Lotus because there’s no tracks near me without Wakefield. I love that this is happening. I hope people with trick exhausts don’t abuse them in the future.

Race tracks bring money to small nearby towns, which then expand and then new people get bothered by the noise of the track and want them shut down. It's happening all over, even here in Ontario, Canada we have this issue and it's such a pain...

I find it very satisfying when I see Marty's Kei Truck in action. Doing small truck things the small truck way!

There are way to many public areas like this to close, instead all these millennials are going camping and destroying the beautiful Australian bush.

Kei trucks are the shiznit! I just wish this was on the main channel so more people could see what is happening at Wakefield. Props to the owners for engaging proactively with the local community and taking the time to listen to their concerns, then adjust their plans to suit. That's what a responsible, community focused developer does and we need more of it.

I have to admit, I was never a veiwer of you guys, and even used to give a friend of mine crap while she would wear her MCM hoody because I'm a HUGE Roadkill fan due to being an American Muscle Car enthusiast. I've never really been a big fan of JDM or Euro vehicles, but my eyes have been opened wider to what is actually on offer. I truly think you guys are awesome, and the way you push the fact that people should build their car for themselves and be happy with their own car is so inspiring. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you from a guy that really had lost a part of his passion for everything automotive, and has now had that spark re-ignited.

Agree one million percent, the previous owner's biggest issue was their communication and openness about what they were doing. This video is fantastic showing that the new owner is keen to get it right and communication is the key! Great work Marty and all

Cant wait for Wakefield. Im a single dad with a disabled kid, cant get to SMSP for track day but Wakfield is good for me. Got fresh slicks on the R6, just waiting for them to open again.

Amazing that Wakefield's alive, but I worry that the underlying issues of the surrounding properties going back on their agreements from the 90's will persist.

The new owner you can see and hear the amount of passion and caring in his voice and face. He truly cares for the community around the track. That’s pretty rare these days and the fact he is putting his own money down to update and help with noise is amazing. Here in the states we see the same issues. Ppl move close to the tracks and then complain about the noise. I live a mile from a dirt circle track and it’s noisy but I’m perfectly ok with it. Honestly during Covid it was shut down and I missed the noise. Keep these tracks alive please!

Wow, surprised to hear Aussies still call articulated dumpers "Moxies"! Warms a Norwegian heart that even though the Moxy name dissapeared years ago in favour of Doosan, and now Develon, the hearty old dumpers made in Elnesvågen outside Molde is still a household name, and a synonym for the vehicle class even outside little Norway. Love the video, great to see the effort taken to keep a local racetrack going. They're just too important for the local car scenes to lose.

We're experiencing the same at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. The North Georgia area (anything north of Atlanta) is growing at such an insane rate, and the people moving into the suburbs around Road Atlanta are rich families that want the track shut down. I heard a similar thing was happening to the Atlanta Motor Speedway south of Atlanta too. I blame the realtors for maybe not telling people "btw, your subdivision is near a racetrack and it gets very crowded and very loud when events are happening"

When i imported my Acty i had to have it weighed to register it, i had to drive it to a local quarry to get my certificate the DMV wanted.

Not sure if y'all can have it down there but bamboo grows quick and tall and can be used as a natural sound brake. Just have to have the right variety growing.

This is incredible news! I wasn't aware there was a new owner until I saw this. I had seen items posted from the "Save Wakefield Park" group on social media doing their best to keep the track open. But this is the best thing knowing it will have a new life as a better track/s for grass roots motor sport to attend. I don't live anywhere near this track I am very happy to discover what is happening. NSW and Australian motor sport have something to be excited about with the saviour of Wakefield Park.

Even though there's basically zero chance I'll ever drive there, seeing a track improved rather than torn down is one of the best feelings a motoring enthusiast can get. It'd be quicker to drive the excavator with a full bucket to the destination than to use the toy tonka to deliver it. Less fun though probably.

What they are doing by rebuilding and revitalizing the track and, in turn, revitalizing the surrounding community is very similar to what Eric Hubbard is doing with Backroads of Appalachia. I ask you all that are in the US, or even abroad, to check out Backroads and what they are doing for the communities affected by the loss of the coal industry.

In Las Vegas, there is a company that lets you rent big land moving equipment like that by the hour so you can dig up the ground on their site for fun.

Wait this drives me nuts who in the wright mind buys a house near a race track and had the hid to complain about the noise... we if u want to play that game I want to complain about my neighbours kids crying and the family watching football on TV and the smell of them cooking meat on there bbq. As someone with no interest in football or meat been cooked I want them to build a wall so I can't hear them.... do I can work on my car with out there rubbish life choices

I visited Australia for the first time in 2019 and one of the things I got to do during my visit was drive a VX Monaro V8 around Wakefield Park during a track day. One of the best days of my life, and so glad to see that the track will stay open!

Closing tracks: It's a win, win for the gov, Developers pay for development contracts - Enthusiasts get frustrated and muck up on public road, cops get more fines $$$$$

What are the decibel limits on Australian tracks? In Sweden it's 95db... My dads lawnmower make more noise than the Camaro I used to compete in... One reason to why I stopped competing was the decibel restrictions. It killed the V8 sound & it killed so much joy. & people stopped watching bc of the same reason.

Seeing that intersection in the first frame had me cheering. TBH I was worried by the end though. Can a wall down low really help noise up at turn 4? How much runoff at the ever-popular-to-spin turn 2 will survive? Is the reason for 2 circuits because the better one has heavily restricted use? Still hoping though, and looking forward to getting back down there.

As someone who raced at wakefield; Everyone had a great time and safe racing was kept off the streets in an excluded environment. Property around the track was cheap. Investors bought property and developed housong near the track. People complained about the noise after buying property next to a race track. Wakefield was shutdown. Thankfully this new owner has the capital and support to adapt and upgrade the track to (hopefully) satisfy the requirements of the people who knowingly bought property, next to a racetrack, that was there long before them.

(People in Australia) "Oh! Thats what they are calling it now." (Rest of the world) "Erm.... what? We have no idea man! Just tell us"

Sound complaints are the leading killer of tracks for as long as they've existed where people move. Though I wonder, when you all do get to go back, if you guys could do some sound tests or look into things using both of yalls music background. Things like if theres specific rev ranges that travel farther, baffle structures other than dirt walls, or even...imagine noise cancelation PA systems? Just some ideas since sound complaints issue are here to stay.
