@@cherylmaden5989 I have loose curls and used to style my hair blow-drying it upside down- I was on my way out and my father said “You’re going out looking like THAT??” as if his wife, my mother, wasn’t doing the big ‘80s hair in their wedding photos 💀 Even people who were there seem to forget!
I am 68 and just started doing drag. A few weeks ago I put on a wig for the first time, I was shocked how much I looked like my (deceased) mother. I didn't know that, when I put on makeup it is very strange to look at her likeness in the mirror. I have to get used to that. It's so nice to see your video.

I don't know why your mom doesn't like that photo. She was beautiful, and you look just like her! I remember those hairspray days well. Daddy used to buy a 6 pack of Aqua Net for my sister and then try to keep her from using it all up too fast. She was an Aqua Net junkie. Kiddo, you are a joy. I love you, don't you ever stop being you!
Ditto!!!! I use to use the white stage pancake makeup as finishing powder. That was before filters were something anyone could use quickly on a phone. Gosh I think I was more matte and pale than Debbie Gibson and Tiffany combined. Good times.
I'm of your Mom's generation and Glamour Shots were ubiquitous, strange how they went out of fashion, but I think of them every time I even see a photo in "soft focus" :D Also, you really do look like your Mom, and you're BOTH GORGEOUS!
I never had a glamor shot but my mom took me to a fancy photographer my last year in school. They did the whole makeup, hair, and clothes thing but it’s uber high quality photography instead. I have many regrets about how they dressed me and did my hair. For some reason, they chose a severely formal updo. And we did the bare shoulders drapery look. I loathe that portrait with every particle of my being. 😂
Your grandmother will probably never notice! On the slim chance that she does, i hope that the photo of your mother is behind yours in the frame. What is so cool is that your mother is so supportive of you and your pranks. She's a keeper!
I turned 20 in 1980! We all had Glamour Shots done in our popped collars and yes, Aqua-Netted big hair and enormous clip-on earrings! It was absolutely a right of passage! 😂
OMG you look EXACTLY like your mom! Love this series, especially as a reluctant survivor of a forced glamor shots escapade myself. I was forced into by my extremely preppy stepsister and I can DEFINITELY relate to your Mom's feelings about her portrait.

I’m your mother’s age. I remember the 80s glamour shot and I know why it’s over your grandma’s fireplace. In fact, my mom had one similar on her wall of my sister. We were teens in the back-to-nature early 70s, wearing jeans and t-shirts, braless, no makeup and long natural hair. Our mothers hated it! But then came the Reagan era and dress for success. We had to go to work. We gave these photos to our moms as an apology for the all their suffering through their daughter’s sex, drugs and rock and roll. 😂 I adore you! ❤
I'm elder Gen Z (I guess) and my mother has been telling me I look 70s for the longest time... stopped wearing bras in quarantine, never truly got into makeup, and have long natural hair that I wear down and with a middle part... dear god....
Blue shadow, eyeliner and yes, even mascara were very hot in the '80s. This was such a fun video. I love this kid. Can't wait to see the recreation of the Grandma photo.

This is the kind of prank that really works! Fab job! And I was in high school and college in the '80s, so I know. Had a very similar drape and makeup job (not done by me) in my senior photo. I 100% support you re-doing your grandma's photo, too!
oh, god--you just reminded me of my worst photographic shame. my mother dressed us like dolls til we left the house. because she was not the sort of person one said "no" to--especially me as the family scapegoat who was never NOT in trouble for something or other--she permed my hair into an afro (eek) for my high school graduation photos. she was incredibly talented doing all of our hair, but i felt like a baseboard-hugging poodle, ashamed to show itself after a bad visit to the groomer. yikes.

The photo of my grandmother born in 1880 looks like a horror movie. In the wedding photo of my mother, born in 1921, it looks as if she has lost all her will to live. And she was actually right, her life afterward sucked. I am so happy to see your tribute to your mother. Not depressed but with a little spark of hope for the future.

I love that this one glamour shot studio had an artistic vision so awful it's now haunted 3 generations of your family. If you ever have kids, nephews or nieces, make them re-create it at least once.
This is hilarious! Way back in the day, I did Glamour Shots too. I looked so different, that we decided to prank my brother. My Stepdad told my brother that they were looking at models for his company's ad campaign and did he want to see who they were considering? He looked through all the photos and didn't even realise it was me! I'm convinced my mom still has those photos because I am not a girly girl, and it's literally the only time she has seen me with makeup.

I wasn't quite a teen yet in the 80s, but I did live in New Jersey, and I endorse your use of teasing and hair spray! I'm sure this will annoy your mother, but I do mean it as the highest compliment that she looks like Molly Ringwald in that picture. This was so sweet. Cheered me up on a sick day!
My sister has the same glamour shot from the 80s and my 93 year old mom has it in her living room. I lived thru the 80s. You got it kid and you're hilarious honey.

Wonderful job! I'm puzzled as to why you used a wig, though, when your natural hair is fabulous and oh, so close to the right match as it is! I love it.
One thing missing: the diffused look of the lighting. It was a 'filter' type back then in those glamor shots. That was another characteristic that showed me the photo was a glamor shot. Well done overall! (I'm a 80s girl ... )
