That was a fun flip through for sketchbook memory lane. I agree that Kat has some mad skills, but you have picked up quite a bit of skills, too. I haven’t been drawing very long either and found this video incredibly relatable. Thanks for sharing your journey.
you are so clever to keep ALL of it i tear up the stuff i hate when i go back & look at my "preschool" stuff--im a rising kindergartener at the moment... fun to look at your older art i need to go backtrack & look at your older videos!! yay you!!
I'm the same one about wanting to learn all the things. My parents and most of my aunts/uncle passed away before age 60. I'm 40 now and want to learn everything. I even told my husband if I do make it to 60 I'm going back to school, in particular medical school. Right now I just want to learn drawing with colored pencils. I got a prismacolor kit. Wish me luck!
Ooh. You're so mucb more determined than me. I wanna learn all the things but the thought of actually going back to school gives me a stomach ache. Getting my teacher certification was torture enough. I just wanna try every art style, every craft, read every book, watch every tv show, learn ASL, grow every plant.....🤣
@@RoseRequinCraftsI actually have a degree in early childhood education. But I left the certificate expire because it haven't worked with kids in 5+ years. I'm learning German! I used to know asl but never used it.
The koala turned out ridiculously good 😍 Please do a third version when another three years have passed, it would be cool to see! It's funny how we always want the things we don't (think) we have. I bet a lot of people are desperate to know how to do coloured pencils over markers! Your videos always remind me that I should get back to art making ❤️ The joy in your creative process really shines through! (Ever though I still think you're way too hard on yourself 😄)
You've come so far! I'm so proud of you!! The koala is adorable. ❤ and I feel that battle of not having time to learn all the things. My job makes it so hard to have time for anything.
As a first time viewer. I love how, chill all of this is. Idk if its just because ive recently been watching like, super high energy, alot of sound effects, alot of edits videos but the straight up just chatting this feels like is really nice. Sometimes we just gotta redraw our preschooler aged artwork
It turned out so good!!! I've watched a bunch of videos that use alcohol markers but this one really convinced me to buy them! Your drawing ended up so good especially beside the old one! So nice
Wow, Rose! Great job! You are an excellent artist! Your skills are improving. But honestly, I thought they were great to begin with. I cannot wait to see what you come up with in the future! 😊 P.S. That bat...he is PERFECT!
Wow! You have definitely improved. I am new to “arting” as well…. 5-6 years or so. So I can definitely relate. I LOVE how the koala turned out. It’s soooo cuddly and cute and the voodoo doll - the colors are really cool. Much better than the reference. I love Kats work too. She did a vid recently with Di and it’s so informative about marker art. 💜💜💜
I'm SO impressed! Your old drawings look like coloring book pages. You've made excellent progress. The koala is so cool. I started drawing in Nov 2019 but haven't been able to be as consistent as I'd like due to serious health issues. I'm still proud of my progress & just did my 1st redraw too.
Your improvements are like night and day, I loved all of the little cute artworks you shared and I felt bad for the first voodoo doll, his stitching WAS perfect, just as if someone really had sat there and painstakingly stitched every stitch carefully full of hate for the person the doll was gonna be for 😂 but the redraws were also Amazing! The growth you showed in the koala was insane and I hope you come back in 4 years and redo the Koala again so we can see again what you have improved upon!
Holy cats look at you! I love Tinyclaw and Voodoo Doll! USPS labels are great for marker practice. They're free, don't bleed, and at the end you get a sticker.
I've been on the same kat art binge recently. I loved the sketchbook flip through too. I also started art recently -early 2021 going by my create this book where i started- and have also been sort of itching to do some redraws. These both came out brilliantly and i kinda love your voodoo doll a lot!
hey rose! I lvoe how fluffy he is now, u have improved so much!! If you are opoen for some tips, here u go: - make a little lamp in the corner to help with shading! You seemed to struggle bc you didnt decide on a set point that the light was coming from -no one can tell the ears are slightly diff sizes, i wouldnt have had you not told us -making fluff varied and diff sizes/shapes can help if you dont like the placement, my teacher taught us to give some of the thought up and just let the brain do its job on fluffs - test out the brand of markers on the first page of the sketch book for things like bleeding/coverage/bleeding through the page -you can get colorless blenders for markers and pencil crayons that helps blend them out And finally, dont compare yourself to others! You are doing great, even if it isnt solely marker art, you are making fantastic pieces with the tools you have. The more you work with a medium the more you will learn about it, and think of new ways to use it. Your art journey is your own, and you are going ot have diff techniques and styles from someone else. Accept that you use pencil crayons, and embrace it!
Thank you for the tips! Thats so helpful! And I'm not really upset with how far I've come, bc I do think I have definitely improved. Its just every pretty art I see I wanna learn how to do, lol. And Kat's art is soooooo pretty.
I like to imagine that the hands on the screen aren't actually your hands, they are just two sentient beings whose bodies are... well, hands. Like the hand in the Addams family ? It must be quite difficult to find a honest job when you're just a hand monster in a society that is sooo monsterphobic. Glad you hired them. Let's just appreciate the hardwork these two hand monsters are doing in every video. I see you, hands ! And I care !
I hope that redrawing these gave you the confidence boost you deserve!! Hearing you say you were nervous to redraw some things because you weren't sure you'd do much better is so relatable, but man your skill improvement from these old drawings is so apparent!! It's also really nice to hear about other youtubers you aspire to learn the skills of hahah. I've been watching a ton of your videos lately because they're interesting and soothing, and your art is always so pretty. It's been making me want to try making a youtube channel about my art too!
Hi Rose i remember you did that fox in a create this book episode i just had to let ya know as soon as you said it i started thinking on it and i am almost positive.... It was the one where you made the family picture of your characters with filbert your piggy clay creations and the strawberry cow and onr more but i cant place em' but ill be back after i watch the whole video 😊 I also wanted to let ya know youve probably noticed ive been MIA in the comment section my mom passed last month and ive just not had the energy but i have watched all the video in the last month i want to also thank you for the comic and art relief during this time as well i have been watching just not in the comments so thank you for the few minutes of escape....but i love both of your pieces and you have improved so much with your art i love what you did with the voodoo doll he is so cute and the koala looks awesome as well...thanks for another great week!
I have been wondering about you. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I fully understand not having the energy to do anything. I think I would be the same way. I hope that you're taking all the time you need to take care of yourself. You'll be in my thoughts. 🥰
These are so cute. I love the bear as I am all for those colours and the koala is super cute too. I totally have the same problem. I want to redraw things, but I don't have things to redraw. I want to repaint something i did in high school and wish I had the original to compare. I still know what it looks like, but I would love to show people my growth too and I can't, if you can't see the original. lol
You improved so much on your koala ! And the purple-blue gradients on the voodoo doll give a mysterious effect, almost like it's lit from below by some... blue... energy ? And I too have a million things I want to get good at, and feel the anxiety I'm never going to get there... I feel like I'm never doing enough ^^'
I really love the new koala. I was especially impressed with how you did the nose. You were able to give a subtle highlight to give it dimension without having to resort to a white pen over the top, which would have left it looking too shiny. The voodoo doll is cute, too. There is a TON of improvement from back then to now. Especially in such a short time. I do have one not so good thing to say. It's not about your art, Rose. Those are great. It's the alcohol markers. If you use alcohol markers to do art, its really important to take photos to memorialize it. This is because those kind of markers will fade over time, and they do it much faster than you might think. I would really hate for you to do something as good as the ones you did here only to come back in a year or two only to find them faded and discolored. The colors fade at different rates, too, which could leave it looking weird. Luckily, you have these ones saved in video form, but remember to save any new ones in a more permanent way, like photos or videos, so you still have them when you want to do another retrospective.
I have heard that about alcohol markers. So far I haven't noticed it but I also haven't been doing art that long. I will start scanning things just for my own collection. 😁
3 years since the first? I'd say you improved tremendously. Practice and patience definitely shows keeping up with skills. I love the cutesy koala and your references. Would love to see you do this same drawing in a year or another 3 years even. Perspective the ear closer to you in the foreground is going to be larger then the one in the background so the symmetry can be off and be all good. PS i have an art bucket list of things i wanna try and improve my skill. I've had 20 years of art experience(from high school into art school) and still have stuff to learn. I recently took a watercolor class cuz i wanted to learn watercolor. I'm almost 40 and its never too late to try something new. I get that anxiety of not being able to accomplish it all before too old to even hold a pencil but you're doing things now you probably wouldn't have thought about using marker 3 years ago. Keep it up.
Oh absolutely true. I'm not really frustrated with my process cuz I just wanna have fun and not be an expert or anything. I just don't really have one particular style or medium or even craft that I'm obsessed with and spend all my time on. I just love them all and want to learn everything.
I wasn't so sure the koala was going to turn out at first, but when you added the pencils 😮 wow! Maybe you are not the best with markers alone, but you are fantastic with markers and pencils combined! That looks amazing ❤ I like to color for relaxation...except, I am not the best at coloring in 😅 Infact, my 4 year old can school me in coloring, because she has this amazing talent and I am just lucky if 85% of the time I have colored within the lines 😂
As long as you're enjoying yourself, thats all that matters! I feel you though bc I struggle so much with picking out colors when I'm coloring. I over think every choice and then it ends up not being that relaxing.
Hi! I love your vids! Just a marker tip (unreqiested i know) instead of outlining with dark forst, use your lightest color for your ouline. That way if it bleeds a bit, u can darker line after it dries :)❤ ur art is nit only the pueces you make, but the videos about them! You are doing great🎉
you are wonderful. i love this channel maybe keep a list of the stuff you want to make that you can refer to...87 years is plenty of time if you time block!
Wow. I love the redo of the 🐨, you're skills have improved so much. And the original drawing of the voodoo doll reminds me of a gingerbread man, so I think it's cute❤
