Wow, a lot of surprises here! I think the camera height plays with your perception of speed on some vehicles. The low angle on the Mini increases it, for example, and the high angle of the trucks takes away from it.
I didn't know the Vegas 2nd car (the one you must drive off the railway in "Beat the train") has the same speed of 1000, I thought it was slower. I just found two mistakes in the final list: it's the Rio car 4 which should have been listed as 4th along the Havana car 3, and in the 2nd place, the Mini is absent.
I think the most difference is not the top speed, but the acceleration, remember that with the mini if you stand in front of a wall and press the accellerator the mini literally crawl the wall bring able to almost stand vertically, no other car can do that, also the super small size help you a lot in the game so i think that 1000 is some sort of a default speed. The mini is my top car easily, super fast and super quick accelleration.
We get cars with limited top speed, meanwhile the AI pursuer vans and classic cars all end up being faster than you. I hope there's a way in the future to limit AI pursuer speed to the same as what they are for the player. A bit of a surprise is my "estimated" top speeds based on feel. This video quantifies something that I never had any evidence for. Quite a few vehicles surprised me in this video.
@@C.I... That would be a really good option actually. It might be possible because D1 on the PC had various parameters like AI pursuer acceleration, top speed, rubberband amount and the amount of damage needed to destroy them. If those settings are configurable even as cheats, it would make for some interesting movies or possibly Machinima style videos where behavior has to be changed for specific scenes.
@@fryncyaryorvjink2140 Thats why the best proposal is keeping it optional. That way, everybody can be happy. If you are in the mood for default cops with speed boost, you can play like that. If you want them nerf'd and equal to you, then you can set that too. I also stand by the idea that having varying forms of AI customization might let us do Machinima style stuff with both D2 and Dsyn.
I could have sworn the mini was way faster than the truck. It's also weird that the closed lorry is way faster than the open one. Looks to me like the default speed is 1000.
Love the Rio bus, just like the one in the movie SPEED. I used to drive it for hours finding places to 'jump' it like in the movie, and see how long I could drive without slowing down haha
All cities music where remastered by Alistar Brimble himself the original composer. He also did all of Driver 1's. Just look up the "Driver 20th Anniversary" album.
There is no way in hell all those cars in Havana go the same speed... especially the box truck and the pickup truck?!?! WITH THE MINI?!?! That mini zips around town soooooo fast by comparison to all of those cars!!! Camera angle and agility must play a huge role in the illusion here. I'm about to dust off my phat PS3 and pop this game in this evening now!
it is. the truck part is there too but it's obscured by the trailer. it's a vehicle that's not used and was originally planned to be used in caine's compound but ended up being scrapped and replaced with fake scenery models. If the devs had more time they probably would have made it a drivable vehicle without the trailer (at least if i was working at reflections that's what i would have done).
@@momoqahtani6545 @Momo Qahtani These shown are hex strings. Refer to the slowest vehicle in the video at 0A6A. Now refer to the 2 fastest values at 1194 and 11F4. In HEXadecimal, the order is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E and F. FFFF is like leagues higher as a value then 0000.

if you play on medium or hard cops have rubberbanding to catch up to you regardless what vehicle you drive. then there are some vehicles that are too slow to even get away from the cops and they will just constantly push your rear bumper once you go over 50% felony.
the pursuer ai have their own speed setup in the mission script itself. and also utilize what is known as rubberbanding when playing on medium and hard.
