It's ironic since according to the Mushoku Tensei author, Mushoku Tensei exists because of Re:Monster His statement in an interview: "I started writing in 2012, when I picked up "Re:Monster" in a bookstore. I learned of its existence because the imprint of "Re:Monster" said it was a work published on Let's Become a Novelist. From there, I read the unpublished continuation of "Re:Monster" on Let's Become a Novelist, and various other works... As a result, "Mushoku Tensei" was born. So, without "Re:Monster", I wouldn't be here today. I really can't thank Mr. Kanagiri enough." That's insane btw. 🗿
Well its a lot different from both Novel and Manga. In both of them Gobuji dies a lot later in the series and as according to his last wish he gets devoured by Ru.
I feel like it would have been able to shine more if it had been done under a different studio, but I still had a lot of fun watching it. It even got me interested enough to read the manga.
Not exactly a spoiler but pointing out a difference in this scene with the Manga, Aporu consumes Gobjii and obtains [Old Goblin’s Wisdom] which is an enhanced form of appraisal. He observes a seed and a regular appraisal will show the name of the plant, with the new ability it gives its species name, place of origin and several other points of information including uses in alchemy and other crafts.
This show was surprisingly good. Right mix of fun, horny and action. It was easily an 8/10 for me, simply because I had fun from start to end. Looks don't matter if you have fun watching it.
I hate what they did with this anime, I feel like they really disrespected the manga but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Its one of my top manga... just hate that it made people think its trash when its actually one of the greats. The studio really did Re;Monster dirty and it hurts.
