This is exactly who i always imagined a wow addict to look like. Is that his moms basement? Used to make fun of these guys. But as im older, now im thinking id love to have a beer with this dude and talk video games and movies.
when i finally realized my wow addiction, it was because people were talking about their various talents they had. Drawing, singing etc. I lighted up and went to say " i have BS, ENG and JC maxed so i can make-" But i realized i personally couldn't do those things, it was only on the internet. Felt like a idiot. I sincerely thought i had those talents, that i could contribute to other people in real life because of those things.
@@youtooberman9001 Nahhhh bro aint no way you thought because you leveled your JC in wow that you could go and make rings and shit IRL this is 6 years later but dude wtf
Actualy, WoW was released in 2004 and at the time he uploaded this, Burning Crusade got released couple months before(in january) so about 3-4 but still, i see the point.
Totally agree with you. Funny thing is the difference in people when it comes to knowing when to quit. When I hit lv70 I kinda got bored with the game as a whole. I imagine addiction means playing on even when you are bored as $%^&. Becomes more like a punishment from that point I guess. I'm affraid though we'll see more of MMORPG's bad side effects in the future. Well done for quiting eventually.
There are clans in BF2 that function similar to wow in the same respect, and plus most (serious) guilds in wow raid 5-7 nights during prime time tv hours. So you can pick a time that you think will work best for you. And by using the word scheduling that makes it seem more formal than it truly is, it is more setting time aside to do something you enjoy, just like you would set aside time to play an instrument or read or something
Hey North this is WhiteKnight im not sure if you remember me or not but awhile ago i made a video response as well to the video. I wanted to give you an update. Right now i have graduated from school and everything and have landed a job 5 minutes from home. Very convienant. I still play WoW and i still have a good time. But i do play it in moderation now. I'm still having alot of fun with the game and it helps me after a hard days work. Thank you for the advice. WK.
I was 29 in 2005 and had all epics and cleared all 40 mans. Right when AQ came out we quit in 06. Everything you said was DEAD ON MAN! I havent played it since Jan 2006. It was my life and I did not cared about anything else.
I attempted to quit WoW 2-3 weeks ago and im failing. I got into raiding and loved it, because i loved it i got pulled into it more and more. i ended up playing 6-14 hours a day, i did end up making my life around WoW... I just wish i never played the game, now im stuck in a loop, unfortunatly i know im going to be going back in a week... i sure hope that you guys dont suffer like i am. If you think about playing for the first time DONT.
WoW versus CEO. What you have stated is not incorrect. :-) I would like to point out that the game allows several people to accomplish the top sets of armor as you pointed out. But generally only 3 people can become a CEO of any one company in a given lifetime. People want to be able to accomplish anything to help feel a self worth.
Dude you are correct the game is designed to never end,so all you have to say is "Hay guys gotta work tommorrow see ya" You dont have to stay in raid, dungeon or etc...Peopla will understand. Also my other word for everybody who has a partner that is addicted so hard it consunes all thier time is"Glider"
Huntervenator: he had roughly 2 years worth of gameplay, and the video was uploaded july 22, 2007. TBC was released januray 16th 2007.. so he did play a long time pre-bc, l2count.
Any game that has a multiplayer aspect to it with some sort of ranking or reward system has no end to it. Take for instance BF2, this fps runs on a ranking system that as you level you're rewarded with unlocks that make your toon better as well as a rank (e.g Corporal). Similar to wow as you go on level progression is harder and takes more time and once you reach the top the makers will come out with new content to keep you hooked. Sounds a lot like wow to me.
It can be life threatening, just type in google, person dies after gaming marathon, or something like that. It is a game, you're right about that. The problem is that people treat it like it isn't just a game.
The thing is i have tried hanging out with people on a regular basis. I use to go bowling with them all the time and we use to hang out. But all that fell apart because they all started arguing with each other and i got sick of it. Seems to happen to me everytime. I just dont get it.I appreciate the reply.
and usually the gm will take a consensus of what times are best for their members, in addition no one says you have to raid to get epics there are so many ways for the casual wow player to get epics its unbelievable profs, pvp, rep grinds to name a few wow can be dropped at any time raiding is just a small part of the end game content
I choose none of the above, instead I choose the option where Ive created a balance between real world and game world. I go to a good school get good grades, pay for my own game time, and hold a job during the summer. Just this past summer i worked in edmonton, but you dont believe anything i say so why do i even bother
my comment might be pretty crappy but here it goes...Life is only once and you should do what you like. I quit wow for four months and life was not as much fun as the days that i played wow. I mean to think about life..it is a game..you earn everything and one day you are forced to leave because your time on this earth is over. Until I am not forced to quit, I will not quit wow because I run my life via wow doing things that I love (to be continued)
I've sadly been addicted to WoW since 2007 and I've tried to escape it and I just can't I always come back to it and its so depressing It destroyed my childhood, my highschool years, I barely passed. Now that I'm older I cannot get into Uni because I was playing WoW and didn't care for school. I messed up my whole life, I'm still messing it up.. I have wow on my main monitor right now afking in Dal... People don't understand how someone could be so addicted.. I don't know why I am either I myself can admit the game went to shit after WoD came out... Its been the point I've tried to kill myself because I've been so depressed about being so addicted to this game. I need help
Brad you can quit and you can move forward in a completely new way and become a man you couldn't even imagine right now. Add one small positive change into your routine each day. Some days you might not even add anything but keep trying. I started flossing daily. Then I started walking most days. Then I started eating a piece of fruit each day. These are 3 of the biggest things I did (I know they sound small but they were big for me) and I added plenty of other things and most importantly remained consistent. I also researched all sorts of info on personal development - all free stuff online, a lot of Jordan Peterson but that just worked for me, whatever lifts you up. Within a year my routine has completely changed. Nothing mind blowing or complicated. I am healthier, stronger and much more confident. Same old addictions still pop into my mind but I have built a standard into my routine which 99 times out of 100 makes it incredibly easy to walk the line. I wish you all the best mate.
The will to quit has to be directed into the will to replace WoW with something better. Obviously I don't mean another game, but don't just pick up any random activity to distract yourself, you have to develop an equal or greater amount of passion for this new passtime or it doesn't mean much. I know this from experience, I've been addicted, I've felt like my life was hopelessly irretrievable. Hope for me probably took the form of spiritual aspiration, and a realization that there are lastingly fullfilling goals to be reached. It's a work in progress anyways... I hope it works out for you soon.
This is the reason I avoided getting into wow. I'd heard everywhere it was too addictive. Instead I stuck with GW and RuneScape (Yep, I play RS bite me), because they didn't take up quite as much time and are still very fun. And when they get boring, I stop playing.
LOL! There were only 3 cards! That's hilarious. I agree with you about people over-reacting and saying they were "addicted". I say they just want attention since they are no longer getting attention from their guildes or friends on the game.
I was WoW addict and I am feeling sorry for every fucking second I spend playing it. Now, I am finally happy, going out with my friends, basketball, girlfriend... I suggest to all people that are trying to stop playing WoW just delete, cancel your account , do not even think about it just do it, it will make your life better, believe me. ;)
The point about dailys, casual epics, how the game isnt all about raiding, large scale player interaction isnt restricted to raiding and lastly it is possible to play only an hour a day even with those pesky 2min travel times. The email notification thing doesnt prove anything except for me receiving an email that says depmoi or truenoth15 has replied to a comment
Warcraft is designed around the variable ration reinforcement principle. This means that the best way to optimize a desired behavior in a subject is to hand out rewards for a desired behavior. Behavior in Warcraft is dungeons/PVP/questing. Rewards being valuable items that improve your character. There is a sense of addiction to this game, but most of the time events in your life will either increase or decrease your WOW time.
I came back to wow... 7 months later... I started this weekend. Im not the proud owner of a level 20 shaman... I played for 20 hrs strait! Lord help me.
i had the same problem with guild wars it got addictive so i forced my self to quit. it was not easy either 2 years of game play then i decided i had to stop.
i recently got internet and i baught wow. I played i back in 06' but my mom canceled the account. Now i have a job and can afford it. I made it to level 60 in a week. wow is so addicting lol. it gives you a sense of reward, purpose, and somewhat of responsibility, joy, pride, etc. Wow is the perfect game. Its so good its bad. i cant believe im playing it again. fml.
i play wow too, to be honest it pisses me off sometimes with the way its set up because it is loosing of time, especially going from point A to point B. I spend a whole summer at a private server, I was very depressed at the time because of something personal that happen, plus no social life at the time. The only thing that I liked at wow was selling stuff to make gold. I actually started an internet & local business of my own (not wow related) because I liked selling things. I guess I was lucky
I am still addicted to wow, but instead of leaving the game itself, I made a private server, and I am persueing a career as a game designer. I am also doing very well in limiting the time I play. I just hope other people learn to limit themselves.
after 4 yrs of bore-craft i had to get out of it and the sad part is not realising the game was so addictive it actually made me forget completely about everything else aside from my basketball training once a week. anyway once u present WoW players get off the game u'll be much better off besides did anyone else know women come in a real life form and not pixelated?
Everyone wants and needs a sense of importance. No matter what anyone does with their life, they do it for this. WOW provides, somewhat deviously, this sense. And RU-vid is popular as sex for the very same reason.
It could also be that i just check the comments a lot or that i get email alerts whenever some1 responds to something i posted. Just a thought. I dont really know what you mean by the comment coming from depmoi either, im not that savy with youtube, plus Im still waiting for you to address my earlier points.
im 17 years old and i havnet played wow for 6 months.. i am just starting to get a gf and now my friends are convincing me to come back to wow. what do i do?
I really dont see what the big deal is with playing wow. I've played for about 8 months have 2 70s working on my shaman now its not a huge deal i dont plan my life around the game i have lots of friends and a girl friend. Yes its fun and long and theres lots to do but its not gonna ruin your life.
I’m not poking fun honestly don’t see how any of this is that horrible…. My / played on 1 toon was way way over is prepaid cards time all together. Now I understand this video is old but it was a while back when I last played. I personally got sick of what blizzard did to the game. But hey I give this guy props. I’m glad he got to move on . Before he got let down by what they did to that great game
lol been playing for 5 years... a few game cards aint nothin. I tried to quit. Shits like crack (which i stopped) but wow... you just dont stop playing WoW. Sure you stop for a month, 3 months, maybe 5 months, but you have one event in your life that reminds you of that epic moment of lighting that gnome afire and you cant resist re activating that god damn account. - Deadrisining Lethon
you have balls for opening up like that. and yes technology addiction is a new illness taking over many people in the 21st century. and for all you nerds out there you should take this guys addvice and drop world of warcraft.
I've played WoW since Beta. Which I think is 6 or 7 years? It's true you can get addicted, but it's all about managing your time. If you go about the game just playing it because, then it's probably time to quit.
u are right about that happend to me and i quit for 4 months wasent hard at all and i think im ready for it again but i know im not going to get adicted this time :).
ok now that is hard ive seen people try for years and still couldn't well good luck with life. oh and i said im going back cause im 13..... lol so i really only have to go to school so its no biggy for me but still u cant get caught in that world.
