It's time to repot this poor plant.. it's been sitting on my window ledge rom roughly 5 years. it has been knocked and dropped more times than i can count. it will now get a much needed home upgrade.

I have so many of these plants that I had propagated. It's best to plant in a hanging basket and one you plan on keeping it in forever. I've known these as the donkey tail plant. It definitely is the hardest plant to transplant because you tend to lose the pieces of it just by touching it. A similar plant is the string of pearls plant. It's a gorgeous plant when its full and draping everywhere. Hummingbirds likes feeding off the flowers when they bloom. Very cool. Happy gardening!

Wow! That's a lovely burro's tail. I have cuttings and have planted them a few months ago. They are rooting but they are a slow grower. I also use worm casting and small fir bark chips in my succulent media. Looking forward to update.

I would've cut all the dangly arms off right at the edge of the pot before I even started to move it around. Then used them to start new ones, and let the mother plant continue on so it didn't have broken bits missing.

Just watched your video because I picked up one if these this week and I want to repot it into something prettier than the white grow pot it came it. Your video gave me some great ideas on soil amendments and the confidence to go for it. I'd love to see an updated picture of what yours looks like now, after four months.

What a nice big plant .I have a smaller version of this plant and I love. I dread repotting it. How often does one repot this plant? Thanks for showing us the repotting method..
@PlantzNThings
@PlantzNThings 8 лет назад
+Elona Hartjes This plant has been in this pot for MANY years.. I think most people will just make a new plant with cuttings rather than repot them.

Hi Bill! :) I really enjoy watching your videos, especially the ones showing your orchids. Do you think some time in the near future you could make a video showing your entire orchid collection?
@PlantzNThings

+Stella Hultgren maybe in the spring/summer I can... when I can take everything out onto the deck. I have orchids all over the house and it would be hard to remember them all.

This has to be the Sedum morganianum,very nice species. I think it needs more light,direct sunlight is just what it needs.

I am very new to taking care of and re-potting succulents. I have a couple of questions. I would like to know if a self-watering pot is good for the succulent. I had been told to water well and then allow to completely dry in-between watering. Does the self-watering pot water continuously, and then not allowing the soil to completely dry out? Also, will the "leaves' grow back on the stem where they have fallen off or will it remain bare there?
@chelseaq7273

Ahhh I would die if mine fell apart like that. I hate touching it and fear the day it needs a serious new pot!

what are the big plants behind you (at the beginning)?
@PlantzNThings
@PlantzNThings 8 лет назад
+PhobosAnomaly There are a variety of things... mostly Bananas and elephant ears. they are stored in my basement until spring when they go back outside.
@ThePhobosAnomally
@ThePhobosAnomally 8 лет назад
PlantzNThings Ah yes, bananas. I have those too. I leave them outside, even though winter is really rough here. I cover them with lot's of stuff though. Try that with one, you'll see how big they grow and how fast they spread if you do that. I like how elaphant ear plant looks like. I will try to get one.
@PlantzNThings
@PlantzNThings 8 лет назад
Are you growing the Musa Basjoo? those are extremely cold tolerant... I was growing those a few years ago outside. these ones are tropical types and if the temps go below 10C they suffer.
@ThePhobosAnomally
@ThePhobosAnomally 8 лет назад
+PlantzNThings I am sorry, i don't know the difference between the banana plants. They do die down (completely) over the winter, I normally remove the stem, otherwise it rotts on it's own. Then the next year they start growing again and spreading like crazy. By the middle of the summer they are really really tall.
