That Larger example was really cool. I've also been dealing w the Humidity problem for my Cacti in Minnesota. It seems like watering once a month is too much the past couple months. I have a few that are just laying out of soil waiting for Fall to dry the air a bit, so I can re-pot, as I was worried about root rot. Take Care & Thx for another great vid. ✌💚💛❤✌

This one is adorable and the flowers are so pretty. I looked for it on eBay I USA but it’s pricey. I do not think I saw this one at our big box store Home Depot yesterday.

I have a purple sulcorebutia. It’s been mushy at the bottom for ages . But growing babies from the top like crazy. I unpotted it and it has healthy roots . I’ve decided to give it water therapy to help the mushy bottom . Is that a good idea ? Or are they supposed to get mushy at the bottom as they make offsets ? Thank you 😊. Plant POWER 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Hi Jennifer :-D yes the good news is when these Cacti produce pups they can often go softer and feel like sponge at the base, sometimes with types of cacti the original Mother plant can shrink as the pups grow, as long as there are no signs of any rot and the roots look healthy its normal and you dont need to worry, its best to keep the plant mostly on the dry side with the watering during the Fall and Winter months, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER and have a fantastic Tuesday XXXX

How strange I was just replying to you and you uploaded haha what is the cactus at the beginning hanging on the right side of the polytunnel
@CactusCove
@CactusCove 6 лет назад
If you mean the hanging plant on Lyn's actual right hand side, I think it is a variety of the Rhipsalis plant (an epiphytic cactus). I think??

I've this gymnocalycium grafted on a dragon fruit cactus and I've noticed today that the lower part got rot I've applied antibacterial cream on it and left it for drying what else i can do?

We do not have John Inns in the States. I've been using equal parts: cactus mix, perlite, and grit. Are you using a nonpeat based potting soil mix and then adding for drainage? Love the cluster cactus, do you think dividing it would make it flower (not that you would want to personally)? Happy growing.
@desertplantsofavalon
@desertplantsofavalon 6 лет назад
Hi Ramica :-D yes I am using a non peat based potting mix and then adding the perlite for drainage :-D I wouldn't be able to divide this cactus as it is all joined onto one big rootstock haha but sometimes the Rebutias especially the larger ones can easily be divided, thanks so much for watching and have a fantastic day XXXXXX

Is it safe to repot a Christmas cactus? I've been given one that has been in the pot for quite some time and I would like to put fresh new soul in but I don't want to damage it.

Hi Victoria :-D yes here is a video I have made on How to r pot Christmas Cactus : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c8ioEXg8Hw0.html thanks so much for watching XXXXXX

I had one of them for two or three years, I bought it grafted. The bottom cactus stated to rot and I separated them. But I couldn't save it. There was no damage on the rebutia but I couldn't get root from it. Also is it possible to propagate from cutting or divide the plant in two or more cuts?
@desertplantsofavalon
@desertplantsofavalon 4 года назад
So sorry to hear you lost your Rebutia, they can be a little bit tricky to re root again once they have lost their roots or when being previously grafted, you can definitely propagate them by cuttings and the plant can be divided if it has pups attached, but not if the plant is one plant as cutting the one plant into two parts or more will be very difficult to propagate from cuttings, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon One more question; do you have any recommendation to share to get success to propagate Rebutia heliosa. Today I was repoting some cactus and I find out that I have 5 surviving cuttings of rebutia I mentioned before. I'll appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you in advance!
@desertplantsofavalon
@desertplantsofavalon 4 года назад
@@deiterdigetata7 Thats fantastic you have 5 cuttings from your Rebutia heliosa, yes you can plant them into pots of very gritty well draining cactus soil, and just put a small amount of soil in the pots, keep the cuttings in a warm and bright position that receives some sun, but avoid placing them in all day sunshine and very high heat until they have formed new roots, if you can provide some bottom heat that is even better to encourage faster rooting, you can lightly mist them and keep the soil just barely moist but not wet to encourage roots, Good luck with your cuttings and have a wonderful plant powered day XXXX
