I attempt to watch that anime right now.

For those who watched the anime and were disappointed with the story, please read the manga instead. It's very common for people to feel "dissatisfied" after watching this anime because it was clearly rushed due to time and budget constraints. This is an unfortunate pill to swallow in the anime industry. The manga was much more fleshed out. Many segments of the manga were cut out in the anime adaptation, unfortunately. Things such as character backstories, villain's past, and even an ENTIRE story arc was cut from the manga. The manga had a better sense of "closure." Also, the manga had a sequel volume called "Re:ERASED." So that helps the series give it even more closure. So if you're a fan of the anime, do yourself a favor and read the manga. You won't regret it.
