Hello, my name is Samuel Leo Shallenberger... I am the son of the original bass player for Bobby fuller before he became fam6 I just want to tell you that I LOVE your version of "I fought the law" .... thank you for keeping my dad alive with your music!
@@bluehorizon5149 just wanted to say... he inspired me to have a life in music, I'm a drummer. Because of my experiences in the military... I can never play the guitar again like my father taught me. Thank you for doing my dad justice.... some how, I owe you
I've heard about 50 different covers of this song and this one is the best. What a brilliant live rock and roll performance. Wish I could have been there
These boys are a rippin' band, the real deal. When they busted out in the early 80s they were like nothing at the time but were like everything cool that came before.
Liked these guys since they came on the scene decades ago . Fantastic musicians . Brian has such a rich sound on the guitar. Really like how they brought Rockabilly music back . 👍
I Fought the Law is a song written by Sonny Curtis of the Crickets and became popularized by a remake by the Bobby Fuller Four, which went on to become a top-ten hit for the band in 1966 and was also recorded by the Clash in 1979. The Bobby Fuller Four version of this song was ranked No. 175 on the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004, and the same year was named one of the 500 "Songs that Shaped Rock" by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
in one mad weekend in the very early 80's I went to see Stray Cats Friday, Meteors Saturday, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers Sunday. Wow does it get any better than that Carlsberg weekend
Saw the Cats at the Towne & Country in London..thought we wouldn't survive that night. Punks & Teds were spoiling for a fight out front. It was like witnessing "Rumble in Brighton" first hand except we - two stupid Americans - were presumably the first course. Thank God for a Kenyan cab driver who got us the hell out of there! Great show!!
If you ever learn guitar, in all the instruction books, etc, you'll come across Brian Setzer licks all the time. And they're recognized as classics. The Stray Cats were such a complete band. Punk musicians who could really, really, play their instruments. What's not to like?
Yep I saw Stray Cats a couple of years ago and they really reminded me of the gigs I went to in1977 when punk was everywhere..just the same vibe..energetic raw..loved it!
Daniel Praźmo probably, LOL. I'm not a Green Day fan, but I actually really like their version of "Working Class Hero" but no, not their version of this tune.
Such great talent for 3 guys and such a small drum set. And love the traditional monster base. These guys deserved much more fame and fortune than they ever received. The downside of fusing great music and unfortunately not ending up mainstream. That being said, killer version of this song - absolutely the best cover!
Great job by Brian and the Stray Cats! Love the drummer and his shirt, even though it probably wouldn't be acceptable today...but fits right in with the rebel nature of this song. Thanks heinzausmainz for posting.
Tennfatmatt.WTF? It's today, and I find his shirt very acceptable :-) But that's because I'm not a brainwashed, guilt-tripping, knee-bending snowflake bullied by BLM and Antifa into swallowing the false narrative/idiot's guide that the US Civil War was started to put an end to slavery. Lincoln spun it that way two years into the war to encourage Britain's parliamentarians to use the Royal Navy, at at that time the most powerful navy in the world. to mount patrols to blockade Charlestone, Va, and other confederate ports from exporting cotton in exchange for weapons and other war materials. That aside, The Stray Cat's do a great job on this-three guys, with only three instruments, terrific!
@@rob8872 As everyone knows, that war didn't start JUST because of slavery. Most people forget what the War of Northern Aggression was about in the beginning..... especially liberals. To them, they blindly believe it was ALL & ONLY about blacks and slavery. Read up, folks. The truth is right there in PLENTY of history books. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
