Don't add in the vrc.v visemes to your expressions animations. It will break lip sync. Need help? feel free to join my Discord: discord.gg/0h1MC8ju8kqgAnP5 Don't feel like doing it yourself? Hire avatar artists on Fiverr to create your own custom VRChat avatar: bit.ly/3nZyJhV
Had the same problem, followed everything step by step, didnt add any vrc. viseme and my lipsync didnt work. Deleted all the animations and it still didnt work - after hours of trial and error i found out that this somehow broke the fx and i had to redo all my toggles
I use to make avatars a couple years ago for vrchat, ive recently returned and blender/unity being updated had to relearn from scratch how to do everything. Your videos have been a life saver. Thank you very much for posting.
If you have an issue where: 1. Only one hand works with animations or 2. Once your face is on one animation, it doesn't revert back to idle Here's how I fixed them: 1. Set idle on left hand only 2. On right hand, idle is "none" 3. Every animation across both hands MUST have "Write Defaults" checked (including idle) I don't know why this works, but it does for me. If you have an issue where no animation is playing on either hand, make sure (ON YOUR MAIN AVATAR) that under "Animator" -> "Controller", "None" is selected. We want to set the controller for the test avatar only. For the real avatar, we set the Fx controller under the playable layers. Hope this helps people. The above stuff took me literal hours to figure out.
just wanted to say, your tutorials have hugely helped me modify my vroid - lots of others i've found either blaze through with a "well if it didn't work lol sucks for you" or just plain obnoxious. You're also the type of creator i want to be when i grow up lol. keep up the good work! good luck and keep safe out there.
Your tutorials are fantastic! They're so easy to follow, and you explain things so clearly. I really appreciate you making these videos, and I hope you are able to make more!
I swear I have been looking for a tutorial that worked for me for months including your older one. I love you! It worked and I can finally use expressions! You-re The absolute best!
Is there any way to have half presses / half gestures? I usually have avatars that let me halfway use a gesture, so its inbetween normal and the new gesture. For example, I'd halfway press a fist to get my eyes squinted a bit with a closed eye gesture.
Very cool tutorial this worked! However... 1. Even without the vrc.v visemes not added my lip syncs aren't working yet. 2. When adding the same expressions to the other hand, it completely stops working (I had to remove the expressions off both hands and re-add it to the left hand only and add the proxy animations back on the right hand for it to work)
I have a question. Does clicking the body and messing with the face shapes and clicking the red record button another way of making facial expressions?
The Control Panel just decided to completely disappear right when I wanted to upload the avatar, and I have no god damn clue how to fix it I closed the program over night so I could upload it today, and at that time it was there but when I opened the program today to upload it, the button just fuckin vanished. The only button there is Utilities under the VRChat SDK tab
if i make an animation that affects JUST the mouth and eyes i want, then the other default positons turn into this stupid crouch thing that goes under the floor. I JUST want to change my default mouth and eyes, but unity fills in the blanks with a bunch of bullshit. i have to select 'none' and go with the default animations for everything, and my mouth and eyes arent what i want them to be by default.
Is there a way to just get new blend shapes into Unity? Like, maybe a month from now I decide I want another expression, I make the shape key in blender and then...how do I put it into unity? Or do I have to start over...
You should be able to just overwrite the existing FBX with the new one, don't do it through Unity though but find your project folder in Windows and drag and drop the new FBX in overwriting the old one.
@@Aggrotard Hello, I done just that and body of my model basically exploded in vrchat (looks normal in unity) (I just added couple of shape keys). Do you know what could have caused that? Cheers.
I really don't get what I'm doing wrong. I've gone through 3 tutorials all yelling the same thing at me over and over, and I've checked *every* time. Okay so from start to finish what I've done: 0. Animated my expressions, exactly how you've shown. 1. Duplicated the Hands layer 2. Named it "FX" and put it in the Assets folder for easy access. 3. In the FX animator controller, I replaced the animations I needed to replace with my own ones. 4. Put the FX animator controller into the FX slot in the "Playable Layers" category on the Avatar Descriptor. 5. Offline tested my avatar on desktop, using Shift + F1 - F8, no luck. Edit: *Resolved*
