Re-waxing your Barbour Jacket 

Please don’t use warm water guys. Cold only!!!! Also warm the jacket up in front of a fire first. The wax is much easier to apply.

Perfect Summer weather, Hung mine on line after cleaning, and it went perfect, Factory Finish.

Wash them in a bath using either soap flakes or wool washing liquid and rinse well with cool/ cold water and allow to drip dry and then rewax as here. You'll need to use quite warm water to dissolve the soap flakes in the bath then cool it down before washing the jacket. I find you need to wash them in a bath at least annually to get out all the ingrained dried sweat and perspiration from the cotton tartan lining. Barbour also did a 2016 You Tube video on waxing your Barbour waxedjacket and follow the sequence here: It's hard work and you'll probably need holes patching after cleaning it and/ or the lining repairing where it wears through. The waxed cotton forms ridges which are exposed to much higher friction and wear. Make sure you get a jacket with enough room in, as some styles are almost tailored and don't have much room to move your shoulders or fit other layers under for thermal insulation, although the traditional Beaufort jackets, designed in 1982 by Dame Margaret Barbour are better than a lot of modern designs. The Modern Trooper jacket is one of the better modern styles with enough room in and lots of large pockets in.

Can this stuff be used to waterproof a normal coat?

Hi guys please help me... I ignorantly put mine in the wash due to the unpleasant smell. I've read the jacket can no longer be rewaxed. What will happen if I apply this Barbour tin on the washed jacket? As I don't see there being any significant difference from it being like any normal wax touch up
