Rewatching the turning the point in Subaru's character in the Director's Cut of Re:Zero made me realise there was quite a bit I wanted to talk about, but not this much :D
This was meant to only be like 10 minutes long but I realised I wanted to talk about Subaru's mental state before he changes as well as the actual change.
I would have liked to refine this video a lot more, specifically in the script, but I gave myself the deadline of before the Director's Cut ends to get this video up. Annoyingly I technically have missed this deadline, as the last episode went up earlier today, but I had this video finished on Monday but I ran into some issues uploading it - and I think less than a week after the show ends still somewhat fits in the deadline so I count it ;).
I realise I repeat myself quite a bit and I describe the plot more than I like to and analyse less than I would like to as well; For example when I was editing I realised I wanted to talk about how Re:Zero criticises isekai through its portrayal of Subaru, but also is a great isekai as through its run it slowly turns Subaru into the hero all the people who find escapism in the genre want to be, but by making him actually earn it by finding his faults and improving on them.
I am however actually really happy with the editing! It's a lot of fun and I'm embarrassingly super proud of some of the jokes!
My main priority was actually finishing a video before an actual deadline, as I could have spent probably months continuing to refine this and it would have ended up as something I had huge huge expectations of. I'm also one of what feels like seven people who hasn't received a huge boost in free time due to the whole COVID-19 situation, if I did I definitely would have spent more time on this.
I do a have a couple more videos planned, and I do think they should be shorter, but only time will tell - have a good one.
