I was looking forward to Rea Vaya. They've been building out the Jhb-Alex-Sandton route since 2014. Still incompleted. I suspected something was brewing. Hayi sham South Africa

This happens when you give business opportunity to people who do not know how to actually run a business. South Africa will learn the hard way and after much suffering you need mediocracy over doing favours for friends and family. As usual corruption also reared its ugly head and the poverty mindset of grab, grab even if it can ruin your future. Its a situation of get rich quick or die trying.
What I am picking up from this conversation, this company did not have proper oversight structures of governance e.g. audit committee, remuneration, committee, interna audit etc. They seem to have been let down by external auditors. Auditors should be able to identify glaring, conspicuous fraud and blow the whistle. This is the same crisis that has beset Eskom for years, governance structures there do not have the balls to take serious decisions.
Bottom line, we live in a banana republic. All the issues you point out are similar to problems with other government services. I suspect the only reason Rea Vaya is run by a private company was to pull the wool over our eyes. The ANC is now chasing after National Health Insurance. Sounds fantastic however if they can't even handle a regional public transport service, Eskom, service delivery, etc how do we think they will do with NHI. We've seen this horror show before. I just hope that enough people voice their disappointment with the ruling party at the ballot box in 2024.
I had a problem with this copy and paste method used in 2016, the same way the etoll went down is the same way this will go down. Why copy some systems somewhere in the world and bring them to South Africa, why not start our own system that will work for everyone?
What about Metro buses they just stop in with passengers in the while we had to go to work ,why they don't buy knew busses those double decks are old and finished even if you change engine no improvement please intervene we safer every day
F5 and F3...has been given us problems... One or two days we hv buses every 15minutes and then you hear there's only one bus....or no buses to nd from Eldorado park.... Most of the days you get at Lakeview Station nd you must walk to Eldorado park at 18h00pm or 18h30pm....most of us are women that has to walk to Eldorado park When you complain to those officials at the station the mk a joke of it....drivers of those two buses are telling you that you must take alternative transport....imagine you loading up for the month nd your are given such answer by the drivers
