100% stoked for season 3!! I love both depictions of the character, but comparing them is really apples and oranges. Alan's IS truer to the character in the books due to sheer physicality, but both were delightfully entertaining. While the second Reacher film was pretty sucky, the first was a straight-up masterwork, and the fans who griped about it aren't giving credit to the fact that if Cruise hadn't made those films, it's very likely that the tv series wouldn't even exist. So, big shout out to everyone involved in the series and the movies, and if I hear of Cruise making another Reacher film, you can bet I'll be in line for a ticket.
I’ve read the Jack Reacher books that are out and I couldn’t believe Tom Cruise had been cast. He certainly doesn’t fit Reacher in my mind. I can’t wait for the third season to start.
I didn't care for Tom Cruise playing Reacher. Reacher is a large man and Tom Cruise didn't fit. He's small. But I absolutely love the series! I hope they don't travel far from the original books because they are great. I read them all. Great series!! Can't wait for season 3.
I’ve read all of the Jack Reacher books and before any Reacher movies, with Tom or Alan were ever shown, I had a mental picture of what Jack Reacher would look like. Alan Ritchson comes very close to that mental picture. Even though he’s a couple inches shy of 6’ 5”, the camera angles and sets do a great job of making him look every bit of 6’ 5”. I recommend that all Reacher fans read the Lee Child Reacher series. You’ll become an even bigger fan.
Tom Cruise playing at 5'7" character who is suppose to be 6'5", wasn't believeable. Reacher isn't a kung fu fighter, his character uses the BFFI approach to physical confrontation. Tom Cruise is in phenominal physical condition and a good actor, but you can't fake 10" of height difference no matter how good of an actor you are.
Agreed! Watching the Netflix series very enjoyable I could never get past Tom Cruise playing reacher in the movies which would explain why they were not that popular.
Tom Cruise is better suited to MI over Reacher as he doesn't have the physically imposing bulk of Reacher in the books. Ritchson is the right actor for this series.
See, I thought Tom did a fantastic job as Reacher. His ability to become that character is key. Plus, knowing he does most of his own stunts is mind-blowing !!! Alan just gives the role a different take, Tom's Reacher was reluctant to start trouble and tries to avoid it. Alan's version looks forward to it.
tom cruise is a great actor, he's clearly been a box office sensation for about 4 decades but he's still not a good fit for the character of reacher even if he's probably the better actor than alan ritchson. Ritchson is relatively new and we don't have a huge body of work to judge his acting chops but his portrayal of reacher is pretty faithful to the books and he's simply a much better fit for the character physically.
I absolutely love this series! Tom Cruise did a very decent job of making the Reacher movies entertaining; however, the image of the character didn’t quite capture the character the way I imagined him as I read the books. So, I am totally satisfied with the new lead and the rest of his team. I can’t wait for the next season! 😂👍🏾
Tom Cruise's version of Reacher was better than nothing, he had Reacher's bravado and smarts but none of his physical attributes. And that's was shines in the Amazon series, Ritchson is Jack Reacher in every way, shape and form. Seasons 1 and 2 were absolutely a miracle and I can't wait for Season 3. As a between season snack, Jack Ryan's 4 seasons on Amazon are a nice diversion and I came to care for the character. I also watched The Terminal List with Chris Pratt, he's more of a Reacher-esque character and was a joy to watch. That's all for now.
Love Cruise. He did well in the Reacher movies. Have read all the novels. Richason is better for his size to fit the battles of the character in the novels. Glad they are a series.
I only found Reecher when it was promoted on Prime. I got hooked and binge watched series 1&2. Then discovered Tom had made two films. I have yet to watched them. But frankly I’m a great fan of Alan Ritchson now. Obsessed in fact! Will be watching on repeat until series 3 (& more!!) are released. Thank you Alan Ritchson for coming into my social media! ❤
You have written exactly what I wanted to write 😂. I have just binged watched series 1&2 and I loved it. I couldn't stop watching it and the character 'Jack Reacher' is brilliantly played by Alan Ritchson.I can't wait for season 3.
Alan fits the actual physical character, unlike the movie representation. His size is a significant part of the story and makes more of the fight seems appear more plausible. He is a great choice and he pulls off the dry persona very well also... it makes watching it as enjoyable as having read it.
Never watched the movies with Tom, but Alan has been great! Watched him as Hawk on Titans and he got even bigger for Reacher! He so looks the part! Can't wait for the next season.
yeah sad. and it wasn't something like "writing", it was clearly a budget constraint, some episodes took place on a bus. really bad. season one was great. they need to pull out an ace especially since alan richson alan ritchson opened his mouth and insulted 80 million americans.
@@removechan10298 See, I think it was, at least to a degree, a story issue. They tried cramming too much in, diversity wise, that ended up diluting the story as a whole!
I disagree, I thought season 2 was great, maybe because my expectations are lowered being that I've never read any of the books. I liked seasons 1 & 2 equally, looking forward to season 3
Tom Cruise films were really good and I wish they continued it for at least a few more. Yet Alan Richson Reacher is seriously amazing and a much needed breath of fresh air these days. My hope is that it stays that way and never goes woke like star wars.
I watched the films after seeing the 2 seasons of the Amazon series and reading most of the books because my appetite for Reacher was insatiable. I agree that Cruise does not fit the Reacher mold, but the movies were fair tellings of the stories and I enjoyed them despite the "short" coming.
Can’t say Tom Cruise isn’t a good actor, but when it comes to the character of Jack Reacher, Tom Cruise is no Alan Ritchson. Alan Ritchson is perfectly cast as Jack Reacher.
there's no question this is better than the movies. casting tom cruise who is at most 5'8" to play a character that is conan the barbarian/nfl linebacker size in the books was always a little problematic. even fight scenes where tom cruise beats up 4-5 adult males (sometimes trained fighters) at one time, while well choreographed, just never really seem believable given his diminutive stature. Obviously cruise is box office but this guy fits the physical expectation in the same way arnold fit the conan role. the series additionally has the advantage of not having to cram a novel into 100 minutes of film time so they can do more character development and not have to leave so much of the book material out of the end result.
Never got into the Tom Cruse version. Just not a good representation of the books character. However I do think it's freaking sooooo cool that Lee Childs will be a part of the shows production!!!
I like the series (thought 2 was only so-so) and I love the character. Unfortunately, I do NOT care for the actor as a person, but I will watch season 3.
I liked Tom Cruise, to give him his due, he played it well. However , Alan Ritchson takes it to a higher ,more realistic level. You can't see Tom Cruise going up against Paulie in Season 3 😂
Tom Cruise as Reacher was a spectacular piece of mis-casting. The movies were enjoyable, but not Lee Child's character, while Alan Ritchson embodies Reacher.
Well, only Tom Cruise could imagine himself as a Reacher, 6.6 hilarious, he's smaller than most of his leading ladies, as for Richardson, no he's far too muscle-bound,and goes looking for trouble. I have read all the Reacher books and he's supposed to be an ugly, tough military man, and full of scars, trouble usually finds him not visa versa, he didn't carry a phone, nor a weapon, just a toothbrush. Of the two seasons I have watched the story line had changed too much and some of the characters too. I was disappointed.
Season 1 was greta, season 2 was terrible, too much of Reacher and his buddies standing around talking about what just happened and what their next move would be
Problem is the Lee Child books are tremendous. This show is very well cast and very good, better than 99% of the shows out there. Tom Cruises was just not believable as Reacher, an insult to the character.
Can’t wait for Season 3. Tom Cruise was a 5’7” MISTAKE. If I fell on him I would hurt him & I am the same height. Plus the first Cruuse film was my least favorite book, & I have read them all several times. Alan Richson was inspired casting.
Have to agree. He had bulked up too much so wasn’t able to move freely plus the screenplay wasn’t very good. Reacher is mainly a loner so hoping series 3 is mainly about him without loads of hangers on. Although I guess Amazon want to add in extra cast to appeal to as wide a demographic as possible?
@@howardgregory3888 Season 2 has grown on me but when compared with the first season there is a big difference. The style of filming, there was something more natural about Season 1 than 2. I read that they brought Neagley back because in the books Reacher narrates and since they can't do "dialogue bubbles" of what he's thinking they need someone for him to talk to. Although he could accomplish that chatting with new characters but I think the audience really likes Neagley so they had to appease that fan base. As for his size, he really embraced the book description of Reacher the 2nd season. His 2nd season build was much more accurate than the 1st.
Both series all good Tom Cruise and Allen's I mean it's just an awesome right okay it's beautiful you know it makes sense gives the underdog feeling that there is hope especially in these pandemic days😊
I started washing Reacher becsuse ,love the movies play by Tom Cruise but felt in love with the Series because I love Alan n his acting, can stop washing me n my husband looking foward for the next Series.
if you read the books you can actually tell which ones he was angling to sell for movie/tv as you can sense it in the writing. it was always going to be covered. tom cruise sucks alien dindong but the movies were ok, reacher season 1 was good, 2 ok, and alan ritchson is an idiot who insulted 80million + Americans - sad hollywood move.
