As soon as someone presets your experience with, “oh, you’d definitely cry at this” or “this is the best thing ever”, more often than not, the experience never lives up to yr expectations. Hopefully you enjoyed the song. Something to consider is that The Beatles were what, around 24 yrs old, and they are making a song about a girl leaving home with some quite deep emotions. They were so ahead of their time and the sheer diversity in the songs chosen just in this video, shows how experimental they were and why they remain the worlds and my favourite band!
@cjmacq-vg8um

... i agree. the sabotage of pre-expectations is something to avoid. i watched spielberg's "hook" not expectring to like it but was pleasantly surprised. my sister watched it expecting to like it but was disappointed. i go by the rule - never expect too much. that way you're never let down if something doesn't live up to expectations and you're pleasantly surpruised if it exceeds expectations. its a win win!

George Harrison felt that John and Paul were not giving their best on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", so the next day he brought in his friend Eric Clapton to play the guitar part. And the rest of the lads, knowing they had a famous guest here, did a fantastic job with George's song. It is one of Harrison's greatest songs.

It would be interesting to know, what you normally hear... Yeah, there's no reason for me, to cry on She's leaving home either. But the track has an interesting backstory, because McCartney met this girl who left home, Melanie Coe, three years prior to this track on a Dance/Lipsnyc TV show, where she won the 1st prize her McCartney presented. He then read later the runaway story in a newspaper without knowing, that he met this girl in 1964, and made the song out of it, that is spectacular for 1967 with its arrangement. A time, when the Beatles were at the forefront of finally elevating pop/rock to an art form. Within you, without you is not the first sitar song by the Beatles, who recreated what is now called ethno-pop with such sounds. While me guitar..., Harrison's masterpiece with the Beatles (he also has others worth listening to), also shows his spiritual side, which he introduced quite dynamically into the Beatles' discography from 1965 onwards. Spiritual themes aren't my cup of tea either, but the song itself is musically a gem, for which Harrison managed to get Eric Clapton on lead guitar. Special relationship between the two... but one can read about that, if one are interested.

Just so you know, these songs (later Beatles-1966 and on) were designed to be listened to with headphones as they were very experimental. One misses out a lot just listening to them on 1 speaker, especially a phone output, which has no dynamic range, just high frequencies. But technically I guess you can say you "heard" these songs, at least the lyrics got through and can prompt reflection. Cheers.

Hi, I’m 70 years old and I’m a big beatles fan since the beginning. I want you to pay attention that the 3 songs are in 3 different styles, different vocal harmonies and different instrumentation. They were very eccletic and prolific and well succeeded songwriters. Perhaps the most well succeed from the pop and rock music. I like wha you have said about life , death and time. It’s good to think about it. But I have to say that you’ll never find any real answer, only conjectures or theories. Live well your life, be honest with you, have some good and reliable relationships and cultivate them with love and good communication, non violent communication for example. Learn to listen attentive to the others and to you. And live and accept reality as it is, because one day, maybe around the fifties, you’ll start to think that you have more time in the past then time in your future. So let’s live only the present and the reality. Music and love, creativity, and relationships will help us always.

On a little side note about your analysis about us and time try thinking about this: I took a forensics class where the professor told us we would be taking a tour of the county coroner's office and witness an autopsy in a month's time. It's strange to think about, but for the next few weeks I realized that I may have passed someone walking by who, in a few days may be dead and I'd be witnessing their autopsy. It was both creepy and bizarre to think about.

While George was working on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Paul and John were working on their songs. George asked Eric Clapton to help out with the song. When Eric showed up in the studio, Paul and John dropped everything and helped out. Eric plays lead guitar on the song. Paul wrote the now iconic piano intro, played bass and backing vocals. John played rhythm guitar and backing vocals. Of course, Ringo was his usual metronome self and provided the percussion. Sgt. Pepper is still rated as one of the greatest albums. I think it was Roger Watters that said something like, "Pepper gave us permission to experiment." It is still my favorite album with Abby Road and Let It Be rounding out my top three.

Stumbled on your account. And saw your Abbey Road video. I think it’s a masterpiece, but what I liked about your video was that you were super honest. That’s refreshing. The only thing I’ll say is that it’s kinda nuts to listen to the Beatles for the first time on an average car stereo or your iPhone. The care they put into their recordings was so revolutionary, it’s best appreciated on a great stereo or good headphones.

Their first album, Please Please Me, gives only the slightest hint of where they're going to go. My favorite cuts on it are their first single "Love Me Do", which you could argue is kind of an average pop song aimed at teenagers, but you can still hear a certain sincerity, as if they know how silly the song is but they also know we can have fun with it. Speaking of silly the other song on that album I really like is the rock song "Boys", sung by Ringo, which is something they got from an American girl group. "Boys" is not much more than a minute long, but they rock it out for all they're worth. There's something slightly subversive about boys singing a song about boys like it's the most natural thing in the world, which shows you how The Beatles either weren't aware they were messing with convention or else just didn't care. After their poppy period ended with the album Help, every Beatles album and single after that, beginning with Rubber Soul, made you think, "Wow, I wasn't expecting that." All of this happened in the '60s, which possibly makes it a challenge to understand in 2023.

I’am not sure about time but Albert Einstein said “The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion." George Harrison( Beatle) said “There has never been a time when you haven’t existed and their will never will be a time when you don’t exist” On the Beatles: every song is different

I think the ways songs move us or make us cry or laugh truly depends upon where we are in our lives. And as much as I loved Here Comes the Sun…it was only after my Grandmother had passed when I heard the song over he radio…THEN I cried. Not everyone is going to immediately cry at the same song but yet at the same time the reason a song might reach someone is because it is deeply reflecting what’s happening in their own lives. It really depends on time and place and experience. There is a story that Lou Harrison told about how the Beatles saved a depressed young man’s life. How playing his parents records literally saved him… more to this. But it just makes one think… To be fair I think that’s the beauty of music…why does one song reach us or group And that may be different for different people…different music and artists, remembering that The Beatles themselves were inspired by and inspired different artists. Even as gen-x, I am continually amazed at all the different generations who love that music and not just in US but around the world. And maybe for any number of reasons even those older songs just happen to b heard when a person is in a certain time or place in their lives where EVEN now 60 years later the song is very meaningful to them. To be clear I appreciate current music and musicians as well. So maybe now for you it’s other types of music more. But isn’t music fascinating?

The beatles always have their hits and misses, hardcore beatles fans just grow to like the misses. They have a pretty big discography, you should consider listening to it and finding the hits. That way you can at least say you listen to all the beatle songs and say that your opinion on the beatles is definitely valid because of it. And hey, you can milk them for views at the very least. Notable Beatle songs from the top of my head are, A day in the life, Strawberry Fields Forever, Hey Jude, and In my Life, but there are many more, even in their early works.

If you listen to Sgt. Pepper at some point, its widely accepted that the 2009 remaster isn't very good, especially in headphones. The Super Deluxe version has the mono version of the album (which is the version the Beatles worked on and intended) as well as remixes intended for headphones that are based on the mono version. I'll admit, for the longest time I didn't like Sgt. Pepper as much as I thought I would, I've only recently come around on it. Though tbf I spoiled the ending for myself. Glad you at least enjoyed Gently Weeps, that's one of George's best.

When this music came out in the 60's, people would buy the record album and play it on their home stereo, which produced a full sound, like you were actually in the studio with the performers. You could hear the harp and all the instruments in HiFi stereo, on large speakers that sounded amazing. You will not get the same impact from a two inch speaker in your phone. That is the worst way to listen to music for the first time. Get a good sound system!!!

For me, when it comes to the Beatles there are two things that always strike me. The first is that they went from 'Please Please Me' to 'Tomorrow Never Knows' in about 4 years. The second is that when they finished their final recording sessions, not one of them had attained the age of 40. They were simply an explosion of creativity that has never been equalled (and probably never will).

She's Leaving Home is a nice song, but there are better songs on Pepper. Fun fact: Paul read an article about a girl that ran away from home.....and that led to She's Leaving Home. Another weird fact: Paul actually met that girl three years before she ran away on a TV show. Within You Without You is a unique moment on Pepper, but not among my fave George songs. While My Guitar Gently Weeps is one of George's better ones. That's Eric Clapton guesting on lead guitar. If you're interested: Here are three other cool Fab songs to check out.......Rain (Ringo says it's his best drumming ever....and it features Lennon's backward vocal at the ending) You Won't See Me (Paul being a diva) and One After 909 (great Lennon-McCartney duet) Enjoyed the video!

On top of that, they had seven other songs in the Top 100: "I Saw Her Standing There" (No. 31), "From Me to You" (No. 41), "Do You Want to Know A Secret" (No. 46), "All My Loving" (No. 58), "You Can’t Do That" (No. 65), "Roll Over Beethoven" (No. 68) and "Thank You Girl" (No. 79). The chart that week also included two novelty records about the Beatles, according to Beatles Bible: "We Love You Beatles" by the Carefrees (No. 42) and "A Letter to the Beatles" by the Four Preps (No. 85). The next week’s chart saw the debut of two other Beatles tunes, "There's a Place" (No. 74) and "Love Me Do" (No. 81), giving them 14 of the Top 100 songs in America. Yes, everyone of my generation has to take care to NOT project your expectations of any Beatles songs on to any new listeners. They will discover them on their own, and either like it, or not.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen even if you aren't a fan of the Beatles, if anything it's more interesting to hear that take, and you always look for things to like. You're an interesting cat, just don't let expectations set you up for disappointment, it's just music:)

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is generally considered Harrison's 3rd best song. The other two are Here Comes the Sun and Something.

Nice take from TS Eliot- but this is also the idea of the fliw of life, which brings is into being and vibrates within us, but which will do the same in all that follow when we have fallen away..

DEEP THOUGHTS Yes, we are here for a moment, and we get to experience the Beatles, RU-vid, and so much more. And yes, time exists, whether we measure it or not. But think of this. We are time travelers. People ask if time travel is possible, but we're traveling through time right now. We're just all cruising through at the same speed. Some started long ago, and some haven't begun yet. We all get our few moments of existence on this earth. I think Heaven will be so amazing that RU-vid will not be exciting anymore. Just FYI. While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a George Harrison song with Eric Clapton on lead guitar. There are many people who got to be called "the fifth Beatle". Eric was one of them. You're right, much variety. Think about it. From I Want To Hold Your Hand to Why Don't We Do It In The Road. You should listen to Halter Skelter, Back in the USSR, Dear Prudence, and Sexy Sadie. Some wildly different songs. The first two a but on the harder side, and the second two on the softer side, but all very good songs. You should also check and see who wrote each song and who sings each song. You can't always tell by the credits, because anything written by John or Paul is listed as Lennon/McCartney. You'll have to do some research. They did write some songs together, but they also wrote many separately. Also, their producer, George Martin did many of the arrangements and played on some of the recordings. He had a lot to do with shaping their sound. They voted on everything. Everything had to be unanimous. The four of them decided what would be on each album. And, they wouldn't play venues that were segregated. They had to allow blacks into the concerts. At the time, that was a big deal. And another aside, Frank Sinatra was the same way. Just some interesting trivia. I hope you continue to listen and find more gems

Regarding learning the Beatles. You have to start at the beginning, go all the way through and know that many of their biggest hits were not on their albums. So you have to listen to the singles in the right timeline too. That's what they did in those days. They were ahead of the curve at every step. That is the key thing you need to know what else is around at the moment they were creating each thing to appreciate how far and fast they were pushing everything forward.

Have few more suggestions you may consider listening too. "I've got a feeling" "Norwegian wood" "Strawberry fields forever" " I'm so tired" A few artists covered beatles songs and i think you may like these: " i want to hold your hand" by TV Carpio. "With a little help from my friends" by Joe Cocker. "Hey Jude" by Wilson Picket " Across the universe " by actor Jim Sturgess. "Girl" by Chris de Burgh...................A couple of Beatles rockers to check out, "Helter skelter" There is a book called helter skelter about Charles Manson. And the song "Money"

You're doing great! Just being open to suggestions or earlier music like the Beatles, you need to be commended. "I", find it hard to listen to Rap and other music of today and don't feel I could be as open minded as you are. That's a big thing that I admire about you and your comments. I too like Pink Floyd ~ Some of their music can get repitious, but I over look that and move with the thought process (words & music) the group delivers.

Hey, this is the first channel where I hear a clear & honest reaction and it's great! You're so sweet! Please listen the Beatles with good headphones!! If you want to listen to some rock/blues songs by The Beatles you can eventually listen to: Everybody's got Something to Hide Expect for Me and My Monkey, Yer Blues, Helter Skelter, Revolution, Taxman, Set Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (the reprise too) and on... If you want some sweet songs I can suggest you: I Will, Blackbird, Julia (this is a bit said), Goodnight, Here There and Everywhere, Michelle and on... For psychedelic songs: Being for the Benefit of Mr Kyte, Srawberry Field Forever, Magical Mystery Tour (it's a bit rock tho'), Tomorrow Never Knows... And on... Cheers!!

Don' panic. Considering the Beatles have not been a group for over 50 years, great you find a few songs you like. You may like these: " You've got to hide your love away" " I am the walrus" "Don't let me down" "Tomorrow never knows" "Dig a pony" " Get back" "Happiness is a warm gun" "Savoy truffle" " Dear Prudence" " Old brown shoe" "Cry baby cry" " Hey bulldog" "Why don't we do it in the road" "Ticket to ride" "Taxman" "Love you to" "A day in the life"........................just saying.

I much prefer the mono version of SLH OR the 2017 Sgt. Pepper remix. Seek out the Giles Martin remixes. They sound FAB. Paul's voice is just right on SLH but sounds lower and slower on the version you listened to. I believe they slightly sped it up on the original mono and the 2017 remix, which used the mono version as a template.

Hooked another one John. Put her over here Paul. OK. Switching gears. You're in the Now. You have space. Height, width, depth. Matter: liquid, solid, gaseous. And time: past, present, future. Imagine this is all in a safe with a combination lock holding it inside. There nothing else around. Someone or something had the ability to access and open the lock.
