American version was heavily censored. Even the movie had it's dialogue changed so much that the American version was considered a completely different movie.
Honestly the american version really isn't as badly censored as people like to scream it is. The music was butchered and they did the usual dub nonsense of adding a bunch of dialogue when people weren't talking but they kept and actually tackled a lot of the more mature themes and references to terrorist bombings. A few poo jokes and stranger danger things where cut as well as flashes of white for when punches made contact whenever tai and matt fought or the angewoman/ladydevimon slap fight, and a few other notable things, overall though they kept the integrity of the show intact. I will always and forever defend the dub, it did a lot of things right in a time when 4kids where westernizing and dumbing down animes left and right.
@@sanictheedgehog They really did not keep with the mature themes at all in Adventure 1. Literally go and compare Apocalpmon's speech from the dub to the sub. One's talking about pizza and hot dogs whilst the other is literally trying to kill everyone.
One interesting about Frontier, they technically do have Partners with the Digi-Spirits they use to become Digimon, but that realization only comes by the end of the series when they lose motivation and they know that this whole time they were helping the spirits to recover their conciousness
@@aidanjanemcintosh6919No exactamente, no entra en la categoría de fantasma era más bien una replica creada por el mundo digital Pero que de alguna manera el aún poseía una conexión entre ambos cuerpos
My personal favorite season is Tamers. It was the best written, had arguably the best characters, and it was mature. Even as a kid, i valued shows with more maturity
@@DamonDestined i think you confusing data squad with tamers, it was the protag of Data squad who punched digimon in the face to make Argumon Digivolve xD
The position of the second song in the "Appli Monsters Digimon Universe" is incorrect. And Ghost Game is not sung by the original person. This is the amateur version. please note. I think I probably added the last two songs at random.
Funny enough the ideas you gave for Digimon exist, they're just exclusive to its games. Cyber Sleuth & Hacker's Memory is about how cyber security is powerless vs hackers with digimon. Digimon Survive is a horror story. Man I wish they used those ideas in a show....
Growing up with both Pokémon and Digimon, Digimon was my preferred and still is. Because Digimon Adventure had topics that were a little bit heavy for kids at the time but still were relatable. For example, they had two brothers separated because their parents were divorced. I found that relatable because I also had a brother, and my parents got separated when I was still a kid. And now, as an adult, I love horror movies. Therefore, I love Digimon Ghost Game. Because it was a horror theme like episodic shows. It is still Digimon and aims for young demographic, but still, many humans died because of the Digimons in the show. It isn't psychological like Tamers, but it is my 2nd favorite after 1st season.
The Ghost Game opening sounds like a cover of the actual opening. o__O; Could be worse though. haha Man, seeing all of these ops is really noatalgic. Makes me want to rewatch the shows.
If you are looking to watch one, just one season out of Digimon, watch Tamers, the 3rd one, its Digimon at its best. Also for a fact, the reason why you see fusions or DigiXross instead of proper Digivolution in Xros Wars its because in Savers (season 5) they defeated the "Admin" of the digital world, which created a logic error in the program, so every Admin turned off around every digital world in the Multiverse, that brought chaos, war and scarcity to the Digital World, so Digimons could not evolve (without the help of a Tamer), so the only thing they could do to upgrade was fusion
Appmon from Digimon Universe is a sub species of Digimons that was created from phone app data, and the latest Digimon anime Ghost Game is set place in the technologically advanced modern world where Digimons were misplaced around the human world being mistaken for ghost due to the Digimons natural behaviors.
I loved digimon growing up. I stayed with it for like 4 or 5 seasons. I really stopped feeling it when the og cast was gone nd they started hella new stuff.
For me, after growing up , Tamers (the 3rd series) is the best out of the rest. 1st , it tackles much mature, dark and realistic theme in it. 2nd, it's the only digimon series which gave me deep emotional tension. 3rd, the story much focus on 3 main characters rather than bloated series with many characters, also the digimon transformation and design are cool af, especially guilmon and beelzebubmon. Yeah , not gonna lie, watching in my childhood days, this series is not my taste to watch but now I'm realised this series was ahead of its time
Fun side-Note: Germany actually got the original uncensored Japanese version when it was brought over here - Including German versions of the entire soundtracks of all 4 OG Digimon shows. And they actually are really, really good.
A bit late to comment but the opening of Digimon 2020 (remake of Adventure 1): there was a narrator in the beginning of the opening. That was Goku's Japanese voice actor.
While I'm glad that a reaction list finally has Ghost Game in it, I wonder why the list had that version of the song playing for this one. That's an alternative version to the normal opening. And kinda inferior in my opinion.
Also add to it, so far between a couple of reactors? This has been the ONLY one so far with this playlist INCLUDING Applimonsters op2, most others ive seen with this playlist dont have it , nor ghost game in some cases.
The ones that I loved the most have to be the first ones, and I also loved ghost game, it was a great surprise and actually intriguing, hopefully a part 2 might turn it into something amazing
In latin america we got the japanese opening for the first four seasons translated and they sound great. I never heard about the Digi rap until my mom got me the Digimon movie on VHS and i remember thinking that i was not that bad.
Crazy that you posted this the day after the Digimon tcg had their regionals in LA Convention center. Digimon has been a big part of my life and awesome of you to do this video.
In English?? That opening was terrible. The best English opening in Digimon was Frontier. It had actual lyrics and a good message for kids about unity.
Digimon and Pokemon are a big part of my childhood and I love em equally and have never stopped. I still watch until the newest seasons, play their games. And now that I'm working, I definitely use the money to buy their toys and merchandises 😂❤
I fully support this, if there is something you can't say bad about digimon, it's their songs, specifically the evolution ones, they always manage to make a scene something epic and memorable. My favorites are Believer, The last element and Break up (there aren't any that I hate, Brave heart will always be in my heart, but I've been liking the previous ones lately)
@@Dreamy29_76 Worse than I tried, I try to found a video with all the evolution songs for someone else to reacted, but it's not available on RU-vid, probably because of copyright or because there are too many to edit.
@@umatentativadecanal8793 Yeah, even the endings are kind of hard to find :( But as you say, it's probably because there are a lot of songs and because the names of those songs are actually less remembered than the names of the openings or endings.
Now you just made me want to create even one playlist, it's unfortunate that it's hard to find :( I just hope they don't delete my comment if I post a link
I'm from Central America and I'm always surprised to know that Digimon managed to have English-speaking fans, even though they removed the songs and changed the dialogue.
Not all people, mostly just the north americans. In germany we had the japanese theme songs dubbed and they sound amazing. Give them a listen if you can.
All your recommendations is good.. The fun thing about Digimon is every season is different.. like the one you said like Megazord(literally) is different.. and Digimon universe using phone application to fuse. They are not afraid to do changes.. there is even a series where he has to punch a Digimon first before his Digimon evolve..
The original (01) Has 5 "stages". first when they're babies/little kids in the original pilot OVA (great mini movie btw, the director is a famous anime director), it shows the " origin " of agumon and taichi. Then there's 01 which is the first opening shown here. Then there's the "movie" in which they are older. Then there's 02 in which you don't see them but the two younger protagonists now grown up in a new squad then there's tri which is the ending of digimon adventure 01. Next there's gonna be a "Tri" for 02 as well
Digimon Adventure 2020, Appli Monsters, and Ghost Game were the attempts at rebooting the series for a new generation. But it's still mostly the OG fans carrying the franchise. There are new games that have been out over the years. Different genres between Digimon World, Digimon Story, and Digimon Survive video games. Digimon TCG reboot has also been good. A couple new movies have dropped, including one this year in theaters.
Hm, this was nice, say how about doing the Japanese Endings next or the Game Intros? Or maybe, you could do the Japanese Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh! Openings, if you haven’t already?
I know it's been a while since y'all watched the Kamen Rider openings, but have you considered reacting to their transformations/finishers, as well as their final forms? Alternatively, would love to see you guys react to the Digivolutions of each season.
I watched it and I still watch it and I can't wait for the Digimon Zero Two the Beginning movie! My favorite seasons were Xros Wars Death Generals arc, Frontier, Zero Two, Tamers and UniverseApplimon (Yuujin my LOVE) and the Last Kizuna movie. I've watched some of Digimon in English, seasons one and two in Swedish (my native language), Adventure to the last season of Xros Wars in German and everything in Japanese eheheheh (well maybe not all the episodes of Ghost Game...)
So, the Japanese version revealed all the digimon's forms upto Mega. I think I like the North American version, where the intro was edited and even the Mega's were grayed out and obscured...even the Ultimates had 2 digimon on top, so you couldn't see all of them....enjoyed the reveal in the episode....especially the Bio Merge Megas
Digimon always had a leg-up over Pokemon when it came to the Partners and there relationship with the kids and it showed, especially in the intros! Even when Pokemon later stole the gimmick of Digimon with "Mega-evolution" and how Trainer and Pokemon had to be "in sync" to make it happen, it still just paled in comparison to even the first season of Digimon Adventours.
where was the "nostalgia" all yall know (myself included) that NONE of us watched digimon subbed, growing up.... that came MUCH later... so these openin would be foreign to us not nostalgic
I loved digimon. It was awesome to me. Now a days digimon is just neglected lol Even ghost game, started out great but who every pull stings (old people i sware) who just want the old formula of epizoic episodes that dont go anywhere, the plot just died n they got canceled so they had to wrap it up. It wasn’t satisfying. They are just a mishandled ip.
I like the original Japanese songs, but if you pay attention to the lyrics, the song isn’t about the show. That’s why the American songs are always better. They actually talk about the show.
It's funny, I'm a Spanish speaker, specifically from Latin America, and something that we always mention when we compare our version with the Spanish version is that theirs seems like a commercial because it keeps mentioning things from the anime, like just a simple song that try to sell a product. While the Latin version and the original in Japanese really express your feelings Just by telling you that the lyrics of the version make me cry not only out of nostalgia but also because of the lyrics themselves that talk about remembering old moments and that even though your wings are "clumsy" you can fly (I'm talking about butterfly)
@@Dreamy29_76 Yeah ‘Butterfly’ is a nice song, but the song says nothing about Digimon. That is the point I’m trying to make. It’s the same with many other anime as well.
@@chuumon95 Well, I will also say that it is probably a cultural shock, the songs of the series in the West usually use the characters and things from the story in the lyrics, while in Japan they tend to appeal more to sentimentalism and the lyrics focus more on the emotions and difficulties that the characters will have to face, but I will also emphasize that it is thanks to this that anime songs in Japan are usually valued better, unlike songs from Western series, where apart from the series and some commercial for the series, you won't hear it anywhere else
That's the point. They're actual songs, not something that just goes "Digimon, Digital Monsters" over and over again. That's why the Japanese songs are always better. Theme songs don't need to say anything about the show itself to be better, and Digimon is proof of that. Also, some of them do talk about the show, Frontier literally says the word "frontier" and is called "FIRE!!" because the MC is the Spirit of Fire, the first opening for Savers is "Going Going My Soul" because of DigiSoul, and plus there are insert songs specific to the show anyway like We Are Xros Heart.
The great debate rages on, so I do like the first 3 Japanese intros, not more than the English version, though there maybe a little nostalgia in that, plus they used the English version for 3 seasons...even if slightly altered Frontiers though the English one wins hands down, the Japanese is fine, and it could be said the English one doesn't fit the style of the first 3, or may belong in another kind of anime... but none of that matters, Frontiers English is better and may be the best Digimon theme Also prefer Saviours English version and agree blanking them out is better....the English version was really just random scenes from the episodes, so visually Japanese Saviours looks better, but the song is better in english
ngl I loved the english version way more than the Japanese version so when anyone says they are watching the digimon openings they never say which version thet are doing and it always leaves me disappointed when it’s always the japanese version.
People freak out if you don't watch the JP versions. I get it, the JP version has a great soundtrack but I love the digirap too. Digimon fans are just really hostile to the dub which is wild to me because out of all of the kid animes to be butchered when brought to the west, digimon was the one that got hit the least and kept all of it's more mature themes and didn't hide that the kids were all from japan.
@@sanictheedgehogyeah but the dub also ruined a lot of the serious moments with corny kid jokes, which is what most people have a problem with. Comedy is fine as long as it doesn't undermine the tone of the show, which for Digimon it does.
