Wow. You even did their Immortal Songs stages! You spoil us! Regarding Yuju’s solo performance. It was in fact a memorial show, for singer-songwriter, rocker and producer Shin Haechul. He was very very influencial in the korean music scene and was veey beloved. He sadly passed away far too young at 46. Yuju sang his song “When Our Lives Are Almost Over” which is about the brevity of life and looking back at childhood memories. So it’s a pretty powerful combo. And man she killed that performance. She always conveys so much emotion in her voice!
We don't get this kind of content of idol recently because not so many group can sing naturally without correcting or autotune. Even in 3rd gen, only a few group includes gfriend who sing originally live and be invited here
For real! Even the other radio live performance also removed? Unlike 2nd and 3rd gen groups always performed and sing live on radio, why 4th gen can't do that too?
@@naneunbuddyda right? They're too focus on song until they forget that they should be qualified as an idol too (singer and performer). But those aspects doesn't exist anymore and some of groups try to hide their weakness (singing ability or dancing) with easy-listening music. But what a relief, we still have quality group these days even tho is not that many
@@yerinjung9067 what i got that most agencies of them didn't prepare or let their idol for that, because they know the lacks of abilities as an idol make reputation down. Example case, sometimes they got sharp critic from k-net for the encore, so don't dare to imagine how bad the comments are if they sing live on radio :")
What I love with Immortal is that it can show the groups vocals. GFRIEND did amazing in every song that they perform on that show. I remember that I downloaded these videos and memorized the choreo too. Thank you for reacting GFRIEND again!
GFRIEND participated not only in idol-centered events, but also in competition stages where they had to prove their skills. In Korea's representative broadcasts such as KBS, I was often invited as a representative of girl groups because I knew that the girl group with the best singing ability among girl groups was GFriend. I am very glad that I caught this reaction before KBS does anything regrettable. BTW, in "Love and Remember" Gfriend incorporated G.O.D. signature moves in the choreo. "Immortal Songs 2" prides itself for the vocal authenticity and quality. All artists who participate in the program are expected to deliver vocal excellence. Many consider the invitation from the show an honor in itself. Also Immortal Songs 2 has a theme each time, mostly honoring and paying respect to the senior musicians, composers, lyricists, or even producers, who are often considered "legends" in their field, so it's only natural that the songs covered are older but participants are encourages to inject new elements into the arrangement or presentation for new interpretation. Even though it's a competition show, the amount of musical quality and artistic creativity truly linger for all performers. As for Yuju, yes, Yuju just did that - you got it. Also absent from the performance videos, Gfriend members were a true hit during their offstage moments on Immortal Songs 2. Thanks for the reaction.
Yes, Immortal Song usually invites a "legend" where other artists perform their songs in front of them, whether original or a change of direction/remix.
Gfriend's 'Cocktail love' in Sugarman 3 (2020) is also highly recommended to check out! I think it was their most recent appearance on a show like this where they covered an old song. Gfriend made a remake version of 'Cocktail love', it has official audio from the performance and i think is included in gfriend's official discography, you will hear the song used several times as bgm in some episodes of Memoria series.

All of the girls of Gfriend (but Sowon) were also in the Masked Singer. Eunha and Umji was even 2 times. And Eunha and Yuju got to the second round. So if you want to listen to their powerful and beautiful live vocals these are good too.
GFriend added their choreography for Me Gustas Tu into the first song with Yerin’s leapfrog and they included the extended kick from Rough and the butterfly arms when standing in a line from Navillera in the choreography for the second song too. I love how they added these Easter Eggs of GFriend into their performances.
I always have a goosebumps listening Gfriend version of teo or our land. It always makes my eyes teary hearing that song that talking about the beauty of both section of the country and the sincere willingness for them to reunite. All I am happing is May korean reunification happen in our lifetime.
I love watching how much they've improved over the years. And the pitch correction wasn't as common in 3rd gen I don't remember how Immortal Song is with these days but I'm pretty sure it's at least minimal still.
I remember back in the day when people were talking about 3rd gen female main vocalists, a lot of people were saying that Yuju can only do high notes and that she lacks emotion and back then I obviously didn't agree but now I realise that the emotion she puts out is just different. It's not necessarily sadness but this unwavering hopefulness that just crushes me everytime. Especially when she goes from powerful belting to the kinda (intentionally) shaky head voice I just lose it. And I think that's also how a lot of older gfriend songs feel to me. Like they're so happy and so hopeful in an innocent but also powerful way.
when you are interested in the dominance of kpop idols in the music industry and you want to explore idols for fun, you have concerns, interests and musical backgrounds, you are definitely one of the people who will explore GFRIEND as one of the idols (I mean real idols) who can sing well, dance well and provide quality music and performance that is good and AUTHENTIC. I myself became one of those people after Rough was released in 2016 and was interested in their journey and discography.

Loved every single second of this 😌 To answer some of your questions, in case others haven’t (but ignore me if they did haha!) • Yes, for the first immortal performance, “Love and Remember,” the group of “handsome older men” that were reacting enthusiastically are the original singers of the song and are part of the group G.O.D, a 1st Gen kpop group. 2) Yep, you are totally right about how Gfriend members always let each other shine! The girls also shared themselves that they prefer to let their members take the spotlight and always don’t want to overshadow the other person. And it’s also something that fans picked up early on, way before the girls shared this sentiment themselves. It shows how much they love each other and how sweet their personalities are. 3) Yeah, SinB had very little lines in “Love and Remember” (1st immortal song perf) but if I’m not wrong, she had a solo line at 0:58, a short one but the camera panned to the next angle very quickly so it’s hard to catch. 4) For the ‘Thorn of Birds’ performance (2nd one), I’m so happy you caught the complementary quality of Yuju & Eunha’s vocal! I think it’s something some may not realized because of the intense focus on “who has the most powerful vocals”. But with Gfriend’s type of songs where multiple vocal layerings is a signature for them, Yuju-Eunha vocal combo adds that extra dimension and contrast. Especially when they harmonize! And that’s why Gfriend is also a well rounded group vocally. It’s sad people discount Eunha’s vocals just cos it’s not as full or more on the feminine, light side - I love Eunha’s vocals so much, as much as I love Yuju’s. And yes, +1 to your comment that Yuju is an amazing singer ❤
The intro on the first song was brutal. The handsome older guys are the original singers they are a group called god. They started with introducing themselves and then said how old they were when the song was released which was I think ages 1-3 for the members. Which made them obviously feel very old😂😂😂
1. i'm going to act like a grandma but no, back then not everything was fully live but most of it was. Sometimes it had a backing track but most of the groups were singing over it. 2. Yuju isn't talked about enough ! When everyone talk about best main vocal they talk about Seulgi/Wendy, Jihyo, Taeyeon but never Yuju !!!

As a Buddy, the group that has managed to fill the Gfriend shaped hole in my heart is ILY:1. Specifically their song "My Color". The strings, the visuals and the dancing really gives off an early Gfriend vibe.

austin, in their last album walpurgis night they had a unit songs. sowon and umji, eunha and yuju, sinb and yerin, diff genre from each other i hope u can react to it. also, in eunha and yuju (rnb song) it highlights what you mean when they are light and dark. theres a live perf to it incase you might only listen to lyric vids.
