Thank you very much for joining my first Premiere, it was fun watching it with all of you Babymetal Fans out there. See you at the next reaction. Update Number 2: WOW 50K. NOW ITS GETTING REALLY UNREAL. Should have put on a Suit :)
@@philiphalpin1997 sitting or standing? I would have gone to the London show, but there were no standing seats available :/ still hyped for Manchester though!!
Just a bit of background for you on this one...this was their first festival show in the west. They really had no idea how the crowd would react. They were warned that a rowdy UK metal crowd could boo, or worse, bottle them. They were originally supposed to play a much smaller stage, but got moved up to that big one. In the end, they totally charmed the crowd and it was a huge step in giving the band the confidence to tour the world.
It's not true. But it's a great story. Or the other story. That this is the song that turned the tide. The crowd was making circle pits before the song even started.
...and as The Queen looked out upon her newly conquered realm of Sonisphere. She declared "Let there be fun in Metal, and dancing too...and maybe even chocolate and bubblegum, moreover there shalt be an end to bullying, for I have decreed it. No more bullying forever". And lo there was fun in Metal, so that even the old- schoolers were moved to dance in praise of The Blessed MoiMoi Angels. Bullying was forgotten as The One smiled together, and much chocolate was consumed. The people were pleased and there was much rejoicing, and calling for more. Excerpt from The Book of Su.
" BABYMETAL and Sonisphere 2014 " one of many Legendary Day in Babymetal history. the first Japanese teen girls sing and dance on main stage of Metal Festival and they wins the crowds of 60K+ metalhead just in 30 minutes.
Su was 16 at this time. this was their third time performing outside Japan, 2 smaller venues and then here. how would you do going outside your comfort zone to perform in front of real metal heads that were known to throw stuff at bands they didn't like. you go out and knock them dead which they did. if you watch the whole thing, by the second song Su had the English crowd singing Japanese and there is a shot that you can see in her face she knew she had them in her hand. 5 songs that day that changed the metal world forever. three little Japanese girls came and kicked ass. and three days later their merchandise was still outselling everybody elses.
"this was their third time performing outside Japan" Just to be technical here... third time in Europe (Legend Y in Paris and Legend M in Cologne, too bad there aren't any pro shoot of those shows...). They had been to Singapore as early as 2012, and Taiwan just before the Black/Red Night Show at the Budokan in 2014. Kitsune up, Po!
I love this song so much. I'm completely drained of energy by all the emotions it invokes. The song just keeps going and even gears up towards the end, what an amazing performance.
Well... There is one thing that goes with BABYMETAL since they have started: Expect the unexpected! They have mastered the art, to make almost every song different the one or the other way and staying recognizable regardless. So how about a Suzuka solo song next time? I suggest you do a reaction to *"No Rain, No Rainbow"* live at Hiroshima Green Arena in 2017. Hiroshima is Suzuka's home town by the way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pDgqo6fcliY.html
I wouldn't say they were frightened, more like they were anxious and a bit concerned. As has been stated, this was their first appearance at a European music festival and the girls had no idea how the crowd was going to react. As has been also stated, they had heard rumors that the crowd has been known to boo and even bottle groups off the stage is they didn't like the performance. Naturally the girls would be a bit nervous. Keep in mind that their first album had dropped just a few months prior to this performances and, outside of 2 performances at very small venues, this was their first live appearance outside of Asia. They were relatively unknown in the west at the time and, suddenly, here they were performing in front of 50,000+ die hard British and European metal fans. Again, they had no idea how the crowd was going to act. But being the professionals that they were, even at that young age, they motored on, put on a great show and won the crowd over. This set consisted of 4 or 5 songs. If you watch them in order you can see the progression from the girls being a bit nervous at the start to the girls taking over the crowd and enjoying themselves. You'll also see most of the crowd go from "WTF is this?" and just standing around to shouting "We want more!!" at the end. As has been pointed out in other comments, this show was a pivotal point in Babymetal's career. It was their premiere performance in the west, their first real introduction to metal fans outside of Asia, and they killed it.
There are fan cams and BTS cams that show the Kami members, they were amazed too, you can tell that they were more concerned than the girls, especially Mikio 🤘🦊⚡
There is a photo allegedly taken as they first go on to the stage and they look very apprehensive. This was a Saturday morning performance at a rock festival so the crowd size is surprising. This was their final song and a crowd who predominantly would of not known who BabyMetal were, or written them off as a gimmick, were chanting:"We want more".
Sonisphere came about not long after there was a facebook campain to get them to play there, it only needed 2k people signing up, which they managed to get quite quickly. So they were inveted, they also booked a solo show In London for a day or two after. Due to the interest and the solo show selling out in under a day, some one thought it maybe a good idea to mnove them from the tent 3-4k cap to the main stage, also they upgraded the solo venue to a larger one. Moving them from the tent was a good idea, normaly as the 1st band on you can get from 5-10k manybe a few more if you are known, there are guess's at crowd sizes from 40k to 60k. The tent would have been to small. To see how nevous the girls were you have to watch the fan cams of the 1st song Babymetal Death. Because of the angle of the stage and the girls height, they could not see the size of the crowd untill they came on stage. There is a point where you see that they realise that they have won the crowd over, then they turn that nervous energy in to one of the best performances of the 3 day festival. This was also the 1st time I aw Babymetal live.
Because I'm a cool-headed person, I'm gonna say, good for you, you were at that show, it doesn't bother me at all. I'm not jealous in the least, not at all. I couldn't care less... I'm not lying at all, speaking only the truth here...
Ok, it's time for Megitsune now. Real masterpiece of a song. This is the one where you can go with official video as well, as it is awesome. And yes, literally every song of theirs sounds different.
You should also check out one of Su's Solos such as Rondo of Nightmare, or No Rain No Rainbows. Also you have Black Babymetal consisting of just Moa and Yui. (Or just Moa at the current formation, though it's up in the air still if BBM will return) Also seeing them live is a life altering experience. You have to see them live, experiencing Su and Moa live changes your life for the good. It did for me.
@@mariomariolemieux982 I already now BBM is most likely a no go for the foreseeable future. There are no BBM songs on the upcoming album so sorry to say I think for now it's not happening
I think they're being frightened is like the nerves of a thoroughbred horse before a big race. Su-metal spoke of this show once, saying they were nervous, but got out and saw the crowd of 60,000 and she said to herself, "now this will be fun". You can see their confidence here in this song This was the second song they ever performed live as a band back in 2011, so they were still pretty conventional musically. As they got more confidence that they were accepted they got more experimental. And they have several more styles.
always fun to see circlepits at their gigs, thanks to their powermetal backingband. the most circlepits Ive ever seen was during limp bizkit with 9-10 from front to back of a festival. looked like cornfieldsigns when they had the drone up in the sky :P and yea some drummers use digital software implemented into their rig. the shakira drummer has 2 laptops, one as backup :P.
WE WANT MORE, was the chant from the new BABYMETAL fans. The girls and kami band made all us proud that day and as they say the rest is METAL HISTORY.....
The true outrageousness of this performance is that they performed under adverse conditions (late stage switch, limited soundcheck and practice time, Yui's costume malfunction) in front of a normally hostile crowd of 60,000 major league metalheads as complete unknowns...and they owned it.
He surely ment joung 2old (they started with 12, 12, 13 and now Su-Metal (the singer) is now 21).........great reaction anyway :) On this concert they were so scared......but rocked it like hell! This festival is known 2 boooohhhh or even bottle bands from the stage.
One of the many great aspects of BABYMETAL is that every song is unique. In that vein, I‘d like to see you try one of the more poppy / cute songs. But it‘s actually not easy to recommend one that won‘t bear the risk of getting blocked. I‘m tempted to say „Iine“, but you are probably not ready for that one, yet. :-) Or dare I say „Gimme Chocolate“?
It's still kind of funny to me, 3 little girls got the biggest wall of death and circle pits of the festival even though they were less known than all the biggest bands in metal that weekend. :-)
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 The drummer Hideki Aoyama has drumming in his blood. His father, Jun Aoyama was a popular drummer in Japan. This concert also featured BOH (Bohte Daisuke) on bass, and Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars. That's how you win over metalheads on your first UK appearance. There is an alternate "Nemesis" version of this song, found on limited editions of the single. It features guitars recorded by former Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott.
...and now an Arch Enemy vocalist will appear on the next album. Perfect. Rick Wagner-sensei you are a treasure as always. Can I ask you a question about Boh. Did Boh play in the (fictional) band, The Black Stones with Nakashima Mika. In the Nana Films?
@@rickwagner- ok thanks anyway, I binged on BM facts about a year ago, then realised I had all these things I thought I knew but couldn't remember where from. Much of the info coming from yourself of course.😎 I am gonna keep digging on that Boh thing though. I think I still have the Nana Films on an old hard drive somewhere.
@@rickwagner- Babymetal inside jokes... Yui: I am here to reap souls for Tomato-kun. Moa: Where are we going to eat after the gig? Su: Compact DeLorean
Behind the scenes they had a sudden change of venue, one of their mics stopped working, in this song you can see yui's skirt fall apart. But in front they fucking killed it. No one knew what to expect apart from those of us who knew and were dying from excitement. They just blew up. Metal fans had no idea what to think. They were so shocked that they loved it. I love the image of yui's broken skirt blowing in the wind. It just sums up the whole experience. No matter what happened, no matter the difficulty, the prejudice, they absolutely nailed it!
They were scared before the show, and there is a famous photograph of them waiting backstage before the show, looking very worried. This was the 6th and final song of the performance though, so they had already won over the crowd and weren't scared at all by then.
Thank you for reacting to Babymetal once again. They are awesome. If you want some more japanese bands to react, here's my fav bands besides babymetal: Ladybaby, Bridear, BRATS, Passcode and Dazzle Vision. For non-japanese bands, my fav are: Ankor, Hurt and Слот (slot).
Check out one of the more recent MVs, Pa Pa Ya has been massive success, and is absolutely incredible live! #babymetalfamily and come join @FamilyBabymetal over on twitter!
There is no genre of metal BabyMetal can't play From Viking folk metal to what you might call dub step metal idk To nowadays with their Indian fused metal Shanti and their Nu Metal? song about a PAPAYA
This song is not supposed to be catchy. It is a dramatic statement wrapped in power metal. And a miraculous performance by three teenage girls in front of 50.000 metal fans. But you have to let go of your preconceived ideas and comparisons to see that. You didn't do that, your loss.
Great reaction but you should not think in terms of musical style, genre or if it is metal core or old school or metal xxx..... Su-metal said it long time ago: just listen and feel...
Check out Chthonic - Supreme pain for the tyrant ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4jYsu5-TJQ8.html Taiwanese metal that is a bit heavier, also some of Babymetal's earliest supporters
So, Su Metal, how are you going to top being crucified live on stage on your 16th birthday (see Babymetal Death Su Crucifixion on RU-vid for details)? I intend to go to the UK's biggest Metal festival next Summer and get 65,000 Metal heads to chant our name and scream for more...and then walk off stage with a look that says 'Yes, bitches, you're my subjects now". Going to see Queen Su Sama and Princess Moa Chan next Feb in Wales and, at 58, am more excited about it than I was when I went to see Sabbath live back in 76, when I was 15. A proud BABYMETAL fanboy!
go back to the origins.....as they were far more experimental yet still very innocent yet darker/heavier in their first few "Official" music videos. Try Doki Doki Morning or いいね!- Iine! and Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!
I recommend you to put a consistent title, to make your youtube channel easier to find by the algorithm, put someting like "Metalhead React to : ..." Or put some personal touch on the title so you'll get more attention, just saying, Anywy, I like yout reaction Man!!! Awesome!
I’ll make a suggestion to help you grow your channel. Try reacting to the NFL. Start with 2018 KC Chiefs Patrick Mahomes MVP season highlights. Then the 2019 Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson MVP season highlights. Try not limit yourself to just music reactions. Then try watching NFL biggest hits “Here comes the Boom.” Just a suggestion. We as Americans, love to share the activities we love. We also love watching other people reacting to them.
I actually do not like the NFL / XFL. The only sport i am mildly interested is Formula 1, and i do not have the technical knowledge in sports to talk confidentiality about it (music is much more my thing, been a singer for 10 years, producing videos as my main job right now)
