The best Metal Punk Rap Pop song ever about tropical fruit! A Babymetal song a day keeps the blues away. F. Hero is a Thai rapper who, from interviews, was very surprised to be asked by Kobametal, the producer, to not only appear on the album recording but to also do a couple of performances live, as here. He was also, it hardly needs adding, very excited and pleased to perform with the girls. Great reaction and analysis as always.

"what kind of cardio routine?" remember those guys in high school who would be playing Zeppelin songs in their room every waking moment outside of school? idol girls are that but with their whole performance japanese musicians as a whole generally don't settle for being anything short of 'perfect', and will practice as much as it takes to get there; masters of their craft, to say the least

> "japanese musicians as a whole generally don't settle for being anything short of 'perfect', ..." Perfection really is kind of a religion in Japan. There is no profession where you cannot find this strife for perfection. The degree of attention to detail, even with minor things, often seems rather odd or even ridiculous to non-Japanese people.

I think all the songs from Metal Galaxy have beautiful graphics all around the stage. Shine & Arkadia are probably my favorites, especially Shine, when the beam of light goes through all the different stage LEDs and "hits the ground" behind them (sorry, don't know how to phrase what I'm trying to say, it sounds strange in my head regardless of how I do it :D). We'll see what happens after 9/9 and what song they will upload on their channel, I'm pretty sure it'll be Brand New Day because of the promotion. And maybe the RU-vid algorithm won't be so harsh on such a big channel like Chase's and he can react to it without problems. He also pauses a lot to talk about it, so maybe that'll help, too.

Anyone who says that Babymetal is a corporate made gimmick should watch the girls crying their eyes out when Su graduated from Sakura Gakuin (which I consider to be Japan's version of the old "Mickey Mouse Club"). These girls loved each other and were a family when Babymetal was formed 10 years ago. They performed in shows at little warehouse looking places when they started and didn't have a real budget. They work their asses off to perform perfectly and go hard on stage for hours to make their fans happy. These girls are living their dreams!

The Kami Band member on that show are,.: -Leda Cygnus (7 strings guitar) -Isao Fujita (8 strings guitar) -Boh (6 strings bass) -Hideki Aoyama (drum) glad you liked it. but, i think you'll liked it more if you watched the actual live version. because they played Thai Harp & Thai Flute as the intro and the atmosphere/energy when Su-Metal introduce F.Hero to the stage and thanked him after the song ended plus the crowd reaction when he's start rapping really makes the whole performance more epic. it really amazing.

Great reaction and analysis again, it's been a long time since your last BABYMETAL video. They added a traditional Thai instrument in (which you heard as something like a banjo being plucked) during F Hero's rap. Talking rap and you saying you like it ... you already know Su-metal is talented, do you really know quite how talented? A reaction to their second single and video 'Iine' (that is a double i at the front, so it is ee-neh) or the most recent song 'BxMxC' (a good link has been posted in the comments already, but waiting for the pro-shot being released next month would work too) would be much appreciated.

About their routine: from an old interview in 2014 we know Babymetal at the time train by doing full setlists pretty much all the time. And they do 2 weeks of extra cardio before they tour. The girls actually prefer a tour which is packed with shows. It's like being an athlete, you stay in form by regular training/game with only small gaps at the most. So Babymetal performs shows in a tour usually 1 day between shows and regularly no day and rarely 2 days days between shows. Babymetal shows however are at the most 90 minutes and most of the time 'only' 60 minutes long. But they take almost no break, they might have a Kami Band solo (like before Rondo of Nightmare) or in the past they had Su-metal solo / Black Babymetal duo songs (just Yuimetal and Moametal on stage). So the other(s) could take a break.

I especially value a lot how non-elitist and open minded you are! most reaction channels that make these kind of "analytic" reactions are very snobby ("if something is not complex shredding with a 8/14 rhythmic structure over a 24 minutes song it's not good"). Instead you value how much craftmanship and work and love flows into songs like these!

The girls must have bodies of Olympic atheletes. Last year, they played a long show in Yokohama on Friday night, another long show again on Saturday night, and flew on a plane all night to play a set at Glastonbury on Sunday afternoon, looking fresh as daisies. At the end of the last song, Riho, who did not perform Saturday, was puffing, but not Su or Moa. They have to be in incredible shape. I also wonder how Hideki Aoyama on drums can do what he does without falling over. He is a machine.

⚡ 💕 / 🌶 🌞 Matsuri da! (It's a festival!) I wasn't aware of him before this song, but F.HERO is a very popular rapper in Thailand. His rap was in Thai, and it mentions papaya salad. That's where the 'PA PA YA!!' comes from in the song title. Crushing the sweet and spicy together in the mortar to release their flavor is used as a metaphor for life. During the rap break, they incorporated some traditional Thai instruments. This was a suggestion from the folks who were working on F.HERO's recording in Thailand along with BABYMETAL's producer Koba.

To all the people who think BABYMETAL is just a corporate gimmick slapped together to make money, or that the girls don't really enjoy what they're doing, I just want to offer the other side of this common talking point: Yes, they were formed by a producer (Key Kobayashi) at a big talent agency in Japan. But I see BM as more of this producer's passion project than a mere corporate cash-maker. The company itself (Amuse Inc.) is very hands off with the artists and groups under them, so artistic control is still with Team BABYMETAL. And like organically formed bands, they still had to work their way up. They still had to prove to their mettle to people, including their parent company who was very skeptical about the project and gave them a minimal shoestring budget to begin with. Their first music video had taped-on costumes. They began singing at food hall stages in festivals for very small crowds. The whole concept of the band (fusing idol j-pop with heavy metal) sounds absurd, right? Many people didn't give BABYMETAL much of a chance, including the corporate behind them. And I'm pretty sure many are aware, as Chase pointed out at the end of this video, of the amount of vitriol thrown at them, especially online. But I think reaching this level of fame and success despite all that, being humble all while still nonchalantly ignoring the hatred, and still doing their unique own thing a decade later after their formation---I don't know about you, but that's pretty damn metal to me ;) In fact, a big chunk of the fanbase kind of complains about the band's lack of competent marketing and PR lol, so I think they're far from a purely capitalistic project, let alone a gimmick. Regardless of how they were formed, it's hard to deny the virtuoso of the musicians, the quality of their songs, and the girls' talent and passion for performing these said songs. Their formation may not be organic, but does it matter when the artistry is still genuine? These girls are humble, hard-working, talented, and passionate. Hating on them is literally like hating puppies. It was implied in interviews that they were given a chance to leave after a guitarist died and one girl left in 2018. But they chose to continue despite these tragedies, so yes they love what they do. If they didn't, they wouldn't have lasted 10 years (and still going strong!) Literally watch the music video at 10:12. You see that silly smile on Su's face? Yeah, no way that's fake. Yes, at the end of the day they are employees of Amuse, but they are employees in the same way superstar professional athletes are employees for the teams they play for ;) To conclude, BABYMETAL isn't manufactured, it's engineered--precisely and lovingly :)

I could point them to videos of Babymetal playing in a full house of 200 wearing costumes made of clothes borrowed from friends and teachers. They had a humble start. Being brought together by a producer does not mean bankrolled by a record company. Two other bands that did the same thing are the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Sex Pistols.

Yes, thank you! After watching Su graduate from Sakura Gakuin, and watching both Yui and Moa cry at her leaving, especially when they didn't know if Babymetal would continue....it truly showed that the girls were a family when Babymetal started. To me, that is all that matters. It does not matter how they met each other. Many bands use to put out fliers to find musicians to help form their group. These girls earned their place in the industry...it was not handed to them easily. Btw, I think of Sakura Gakuin as being like the old "Mickey Mouse Club" that started in 1955....a group of children put together to learn and perform, and some become very famous when they leave...Mickey Rooney, Annette Funicello both from the original group, and from the newer group came Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears.

I really enjoy your reaction videos, more than most. Your musical insights are what set you apart from the vast crowd of reactors out there, so thank you. The album this song is from, Metal Galaxy is much different than their previous two albums, in that the sound is more evolved from just a traditional heavy sound. It employs more synth and other sounds that add more depth, but that can also put some people off who preferred that traditional metal sound. The album also has a lot of guest appearances on it, like at least half of the songs have someone else adding something to it. It also incorporates more genres, like an Indian style in the song Shanti, Shanti, Shanti, that has some traditional Indian dancing by the girls and a new singing style by Su, which is definitely worth a look/listen/reaction if RU-vid would allow it.

Been following these girls since their very beginning when they first got known in the West. Got nothing but respect for both them and their band members - it's easy to focus on the girls (you are meant to) but every time I listen to them I always realize just how much I enjoy the backing instrumentals just as much.

Great reaction, as always! I've missed your analysis of Babymetal songs. They are very informative and you point out things that my old ears don't catch! BTW, I would love it if you would analyze/react to Babymetal's "Tales of the Destinies". It has a Dream Theater feel to it, so it has only been performed live once due to it being too technical to dance to consistently! It's a very unique and impressive song. There is a compilation video on youtube, or you could just react to the official audio-only video. I believe you have the "ears" to appreciate and analyze that song properly!

I'm so glad to see you return to Babymetal. I know they have too few videos to choose from that wouldn't get your channel in trouble, but this was a good one. Both a great song and an interesting one. I would love to see you do one more from Rammstein again at some point. I know they're not your fav, but I would absolutely love to hear your analysis of something like their music video for Deutschland from their newest album, because it's very different from their earlier work and changes things up from some of the elements you commented on from the other two of theirs you did. It might not sell you on them, but I love your analysis of composition and I would love to hear it applied to them, because it's a pretty stark contrast in some ways to what you heard of them. It's also a true spectacle of a video.

Let's not kid ourselves lots of metal bands have gimmicks to grab attention. He mentioned KISS in the video, they are clearly one of those bands that sparked doing elaborate shows. Slipknot appearance is perfectly normal for a band ? Or Ghost ? Or Gwar ? Maybe you think Abbath looks like your average bloke in the streets ? :-) Dismissing Babymetal as 'just a gimmick' is way to easy...

Great reaction as always! Since you can’t wait to react to them, I think we can agree that you should do more, because I‘m always looking forward to your reactions as well! The song sometimes reminds of what a closed minded idiot I can be. When I heard about a Thai rapper being in it, I was prepared to hate it. Just because I‘m not a Rap fan, and because Thai is not Japanese. I wasn‘t openly disrespectful towards him, that‘s just not my style, but I think I did utter some words of disappointment on Reddit without even hearing the song. It was really stupid. Later I read in an interview that he felt very honored to have been chosen by such a well-known band to represent his small country (and its culinary specialty) in a brand-new song. But then he got such a lot of hatred from BABYMETAL fans that he was about to cancel. He thought perhaps he wasn‘t worthy of being chosen for the task after all. Koba encouraged him to go through with it, and in the end he was accepted and congratulated by the fans as well. Again, I had only been very „mildly hostile“, but I really felt like an a**hole reading that. And rightfully so, of course. He‘s apparently a warm-hearted person, and he sounded really hurt. I hadn‘t even heard his contribution to the song before writing it off. And even if I had indeed turned out not to like it, that wouldn’t have been a reason to condemn it. Everyone had done their best, and I should respect that, even if it had not been after my taste. Needless to say, I learned to love the song quickly. It‘s one of my favourites live. As you have probably noticed, it‘s a fantastic live song that really puts one in a great mood. I‘m pretty sure I have learned my lesson. And of course I sent him a few words of thanks and encouragement via Twitter later, as did other fans as well. It sounded like he felt appreciated after that, which I was very relieved to hear. On a completely unrelated note, there‘s something that‘s starting to drive me nuts: During the „Pa Pa Ya“s of the second verse, I at some point started to notice a clicking sound from the right side as the guitars play, probably the sound of a plectrum clicking as it touches the strings. I cannot unhear it since then, it takes all of my attention for a few seconds (which should really be on the girls dancing instead). BTW, if I‘m not mistaken, that instrument that you said reminded you of a banjo is a traditional Thai instrument. I don‘t remember the name, though. Live they have replaced it with a guitar. I think there are quite few BABYMETAL videos left to react to. To go into a completely different direction once again, I‘d like to recommend a song called „Shanti Shanti Shanti“ from the same album: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gQnG_T7kbtY.html
