I think it’s at least 20 games into the season before Detroit moves on from any young player. Ivey and Stew included. We need to see how they are doing.

Monty saw Ivey isnt the answer. He had no choice but to play the other crappy player who could actually pass the ball, not turn it over, and play soem defense.

I was reflecting a little. I know Monty liked Killian, but what was Ivey doing or not doing in practice that made him start Killian? Maybe it was favoritism, but maybe it wasn't to an extent?

From the beat reporters I talked to thoughout the season it was mainly defense and bad decision making.

Maybe he was NUTS. (and, he WAS.) Killian wasn't a bust; just Was NOT the PG they needed; He Did play good on the ball defense, but he couldn't Shoot -

The fact Hayes was even on the roster points to Weaver. Maybe the decision was influenced if not previously agreed upon?

Hard to guess at motivation. I can't help but wonder if Cade was part of the reason. Ivey is best playing on ball and Cade might prefer to be on ball if not the heliocentric offense Monty was running. Hayes is the better passer and defender. If he had a good start shooting wise that would make him a much better option than Ivey trying to be a 3&D player. Before the reason started I wanted to start Morris, but he was injured. I think starting Morris was the plan. After the injury the Pistons didn't have a good option.

@@PistonsTalk Yes, Ivey is a bad player who makes you lose, and Killian being even worse doesn't change that.

Jaden Ivey would have the same Issue in Indiana as he does in Detroit. Indiana has a starting PG so Ivey would be forced to play off ball where Ivey is very weak

Indiana got better pg get him the ball in better spots and spacing to open drive lane when he attack close outs

I'm guessing he would be a backup for a contender. Some of the Pistons rotation wouldn't even play for the Pacers

I’ve passionately hated the Pistons since I was like 6!! I mfn hated the Bad Boys, and how they jumped all over Mike. Used to make me cry 😭 One of my college coaches ended up on the Pistons staff in 2012ish. We started attending a lot more games, mostly just to see him but still. Then they draft one of my former players, my sons teammates, and a kid I think the world of so I do a 180 for the Pistons because I love JI. This ish been hard to watch tho. All I’m 100% of is that he was at the crib about 3 weeks ago and he got swole up this summer

I can understand moving Ivey because he is a poor man's Westbrook with no jump-shot at all. But moving Stewart would be a huge mistake!

My biggest fear for ivey is that hes just a jordan Clarkson. Like it wouldn't be terrible but, i guees thag my fear. Score only players are some of my leadt favorite especially the ones that cant spot up very well.

Ivey's three point shooting is improving. He had fewer turnovers as a rookie than Cade. He'll be a three level scorer passer playmaker. Defense is a problem. The hope is for Ivey to be tolerable on defense. I have similar issues with Duren on defense. I have greater doubts about Duren being good enough to justify not starting Ausar.

I have a feeling these reporters and news outlet want our players in other cities to make those team better. They need to evaluate this season if CADE can be a leader and guide his team to better records and get on players imo. If he isn't we need to consider if he really is the Star franchise player for this team before we move young players that may be better than him in upcoming years.

@@dbuck2862 Those other guys suck, if you want stats look at how much worse Duren is than Stew in terms of FG% against as the primary defender, and then just watch Ivey play defense. This team still has a core of one (1) player, but I have high hope for Ausar and Ron too!

@@scottwickett1273 i look at yearly stats, and see if they progress. Stew didn't play much last year so his stats are based on the few games he played. Same way i look at CADE missing so many games want to see how he plays a full 82 game season with playing at least 85% of his games.

Ivey is a great player who hasn't had much of a chance to grow. The pistons foolishly tried to play all rookies and one year player like a fab 5, but this is the pros. They need experienced leadership on the floor. If the pistons start trading all their growing players, they are going to lose and other team will get better. This mistake the Warriors use to make.

Cade has the greatest trade value and is the closest to being able to force a trade. I get why the Pistons want to build around him. But I suspect Cade will start pushing for a trade after two more years of being on a terrible team.
