It’s interesting how BTS changes so many people. I am much more positive now. I also think my self-esteem has increased, as I prioritize loving myself more.
BTS tends to portray ideas and thoughts very well in their songs or videos. The complexity of most of his compositions beautifully expresses his creative and artistic choices. To do this, they use various devices and symbols, linking literary, psychological and social references. Repeating words is a deliberate literary device that puts emphasis on something and is called Epizeuxis. In this case, "bump, bump, bump" is the sound of the heartbeat and conveys the heightened sensation of anxiety; and, "jump, jump, jump" deepens the feeling of depression and dark thoughts, adding layers of complexity to the lyrics. In the case of "nah, nah, nah" and "yeah, yeah, yeah" the repetition makes the song accessible to BTS's multinational and multilingual audience where fans from diverse backgrounds can easily sing along, creating a sense of unity and connection. . “Black Swan” is inspired by the psychological theories of Carl Jung and explores the concept of “Shadow” which addresses the darkest things that exist in all of us and that we hide or repress, for example, our fears and doubts or our prejudices. It is based on the following quote from dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, “a dancer dies twice - once when she stops dancing, and this first death is the most painful”. That's why it's relatable to Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, "Swan Lake", where there's a character called Black Swan. This song has an essentially deep and personal meaning for BTS, as it refers to the fear of losing their passion for music. The video portrays the fight between light and darkness, with beautiful visuals, powerful choreography and emotional vocals, adding depth to the narrative and representing the artists' internal conflicts and emotions. But the lyrics end with the hope that they will fight this feeling by looking deeper into themselves, understanding their feelings, knowing themselves better, and using those feelings as inspiration to make more music. 💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜🇧🇷💜
Wow you absolutely nailed this comment! I absolutely love the love comments ☺️💜 thank you so much for helping me better understand and being patient with me ! Your knowledge of bts and this song is amazing and I greatly appreciate all the information☺️
A masterpiece that always brings me to a self reflection about who I was, who I am and who I want to be, a deep concept that deserved tones of classical music and Jimin's contemporary dance, which he is majored in. A genius work of art!! Thanks for this reaction, loved!💜
Black Swan was influenced by Martha Graham’s quote (mentioned in the comment section), the ballet, and the movie with Natalie Portman whose character, a ballerina, strives to be the best in her art. Her chasing after perfection and success causes her to descend into madness. BTS, especially RM and Suga, often question what comes at the end of all this striving for success when they can no longer perform or even want to perform. That will be their first death.
The Black Swan movie creeped me out 🤷🏻♀️ I absolutely love psychological movies but something about that movie, I didn’t like. I’m going to watch it again now after knowing the connection to this. Hopefully I’ll appreciate it more this time 💜💜💜
still can't believe bangtan has black swan in their discography, such a masterpiece 😙🤌🏻 pandemic really robbed mots 7 the massive promotion and tour it deserved 🥺 can you react to life goes on next? since you watched the mma 2020 perf of black swan, i think it will be better if you watch their whole performance that time. they performed black swan, on, life goes on, and dynamite. their dynamite perf there is iconic as well!!! i won't spoil why, you need to see it yourself 💜 (additional note: speaking of dynamite, today is actually dynamite's 4th anniv! their first song to top the billboard hot 100)
After a loonngggg wait.. finally.. They are the best. My favorite live performance for Black Swan. Maybe next time you can use filter for the live performance especially from the award show. Hope RU-vid won't blocked it
I think the white/black dichotomy is on and off-stage. White persona, black their integrated selves, including their inner darkness. But i love your interpretation too, especially the part about Jin. Remember that RM said that their videos mean what you bring to them. Since everyone has their own history, we all are contributing to the richness of the interpretation. Edited to add: I swear I started my comment before you got to Bookish Theories' explainer-- this will teach me to wait for the end of the video before spouting off. Very much enjoyed your reaction and hope to see more deep dives in future.
The theater was a perfect choice for this due to the subject matter. Black swan the movie, black swan the story and Martha Graham's analogy, when a performer realizes they can't perform any longer, it's their first death. They're thinking about how they will feel when they get to the point they can no longer sing, dance and perform. BTW Jimin was a student of contemporary dance and ballet. those two types of dance are first cousins, if you will. Dude, way wrong analogy video! ROFLMAO..
