I feel the same way about meaningful music. don't get me wrong, i love a fun song and artist as well but i love songs that have something to say. Its one of the reasons I like BTS in the first place. They have songs about self love, self worth and development/growth, songs criticizing the Younger generation and the older generation.songs criticizing the Korean government and school system and society.Songs about mental health struggles(social anxiety and depression ect). Songs and albums inspired by philosophers, art, psychology books/authors and other literature. And do many many different genres and do solo music/songs/albums both within and outside of the group. Where they can explore any genre and style. We of course get love songs but even most of those are done in way where they leave it up to the listeners interpretation. I love getting to research and learn about the references from their songs. Whether they're cultural references or literature or anything else.

@@flovonnejohnson707 I 100% agree. I admit that when I first heard BTS I thought they were just a generic kpop group that made regular music. I think the first song I heard with a deep meaning was Black Swan, that's when I decided to get more into their music. I don't find myself actually looking up the meaning behind songs as much as I used to but they have a vibe in their music where you can tell there's something deeper, even if you don't know what it is specifically.

Yo Flovonne it’s the Dad from the video. I’m so happy you recommended that video, it has made more self aware. I legit thought K-pop didn’t have a lot of substance. I want to hear more of their music, I intend to do a little research as well, but if you have any recommendations from here on out you are a trusted source of knowledge.

Hi. Thanks for the shoutout. One thing I want to tell you is that with bts always expect deep meanings. I loved your commentary on this so if you have future reactions please find ways to check out the lyrics so you can talk about it💜. You talked about checking out their debut song No More Dream and just a heads up but that song talks about young people in Korea not having dreams and being forced to conform to societal expectations. It's really deep so if you read the lyrics I would love to hear your thoughts on that.💜

love your genuine interest!! yall are lovely!! some of my opinions to further explain some things said in the video: BTS, especially the rappers (because they wrote their own bars) actually care about their lyrics and tho it might be hard for us non-korean speakers to fully grasp the wordplay and refrences they make, doing research like this helps a lot. about BTS's success being motivated by anger: BTS started off from a very small label with a limited budget and no power in the industry (even till this day, they have no power over the media, only a lot of money that BTS made for their label, turning it into the richest entertainment company in Korea, so they actually are still treated bad by their own media). because they were "poor" when they started, not only the public, but also other idols used to bully them. this is something that Suga said: "we didn't know why they hated us so much. (...) we were beated up by so many haters, people referred to us as . so i think a part of me really wanted to succeed and take revenge on them (by doing so)". scandal culture in korea is insane. even dating is a scandal for idols. and sadly many good people were victims of it and many lost their lives because of it. this is not the first or the last time they adressed this issue in their lyrics. i respect the boys so much for taking risks by adressing these things. i'm so happy you changed your opinion on the song, this is one of the first BTS songs i ever heard and it's the one that won me over and made me go down the BTS rabbithole ahaha when BTS comes back in 2025 i hope we'll get some songs about everything that happened to them since they began their hiatus, cuz only this year the media and certain individuals from the industry organized smear campains on them (there are texts revealed that prove it). BTS has songs for everyone and about so many topics but not everyone in kpop is like this. BTS are too involved in their own music, they actually speak about what they want in their music and thats what separated them from kpop since the beggining. they actually debuted with the mission of speaking for those that need it, thats why they called themselves "Bangtan Sonyeondan" (Bulletproof boyscouts), because they wanted to protect people with their music. and thats exactly what they have been doing since then. because you seem interested in their lyrics, i recommend you check the songs out from the channel "DIAL6137" instead of the color coded ones, because they are more accurate. here are some songs i wanna recommend: Tomorrow (prod. Suga), Hip-Hop Lover (you can find the live version with subs), Two! Three! (their first official song for fans), Dis-ease, Run BTS (not to be confused with their song Run from 2015, Run BTS is about their journey, i also recommend you watch the live performance from Busan after you check out the lyrics). i could go on forever, but these are just a few i thought about rn. none of these have music videos, but BTS' B-sides are always so good. let us know what kind of songs you wanna hear and I'm sure army can make recommendations!

Being ignorant is a problem until you solve it with being smart enough to get to understand and learn. That is what you do and it's great ! Never forget that in almost every BTS song you'll hear, there is a deep meaning. RM, Suga, J-Hope are still young but they are as wild in their rap as wise in the meaning of their lyrics... always. BTS is a group you can just enjoy for fun or being entertained... but once you dig in it, there are many layers. That is why we talk about a rabbit hole. 💜💜💜

Forgive my English, I'm writing from Brazil and I hope you understand me. This song makes much more sense nowadays because one of the rappers, Suga, had an incident two months ago where he was riding an electric scooter for about 500 meters after a few drinks at a bar near his house, and when he arrived to his house, he made a sharp turn and fell alone, to his misfortune. At the same time, three police officers were passing by, went to help him and smelled alcohol. They tested him and found out that he was a bit drunk. The media made a HUGE fuss about it, writing more than 1,400 articles about the incident. The police forced Suga to go to the police station and testify for THREE hours, making him feel ashamed in front of the police station, bowing down to the journalists and apologizing as if he had committed murder. So this song makes more sense than ever, where people took a small thing that happened and turned it into a horror show.

Boomer is generational - My mother and father were born in 1945 and 1946. I was born in 1966 which is considered Gen X in the USA. In South Korea, they don't have a Gen X. boomer noun [C] (PERSON) *a person born during the period between approximately 1945 and 1965 following World War II, when there was a baby boom (= a large increase in the number of babies born), also used to refer to an older person in general: Many boomers are in a position to afford a second or third home.* *The term "baby boomer" in South Korea refers to people born between 1955 and 1963, and those born between 1964 and 1974 are considered the second generation.* Baby boomers are a significant demographic group in South Korea, and their retirement is expected to have a significant impact on the country's economy.

Thanks for your genuine interest this song goes even harder given suga stupid kickboard scooter thing Kmedia tried to take him out for a mistake but they messed with the wrong fandom! Ugh! There is a lot of meaning in bts music we have a running joke that army needs to have degree in multiple fields to understand BTS and bts isnt really kpop they are deeper then that i recommend you watch the Taylor guide to bangtan seven if that i recommend you do the Agustd trilogy

A 4 to a 9. That sounds much better. If you like songs with meaning, BTS' whole catalog is full of deep, meaningful songs. I'd recommend: Ddaeng, Born Singer, and Cyphers 1-4 next. Ddaeng has a DKDKTV explained video with it. Born Signer has a few different live performances to go with. RM changes the lyrics each time they perform it. The Cyphers get progressively better each time and the live stage mixes are incredible. But my favorite performance might be Cypher 3 at the YTC concert in Busan. There are a ton more amazing songs, all very deep and thought provoking. But take your time going through it. The BTS rabbit hole can be very daunting but know that they take a lot of consideration into their writing, production, and performance. And take into account that there are cultural nuances that take some time to learn about - we all started not knowing these things but ARMY is really helpful about helping each one of us along. The website Dool Set is helpful for that if you want a breakdown of lyrics and meaning behind it.
