Reacting to DBZ Abridged Episode 10 Part 1 Without Watching Dragon Ball Z 

In regards to the whole Vegeta not calling himself the king it's out of respect to his father. Plus he wants to earn that title and not have it be given to him just because his father is dead

This episode has one of my favorite exchanges Goku: “Well that’s not very nice” Vegeta: “ OF COURSE NOT! I’M FUCKING EVIL!”

Vegeta probably needs an official ceremony to declare himself the rightful king. And since most of the saiyans are dead there's no one who could perfom that ceremony.

I was really hoping all three parts of episode 10 would come together

The ironic thing is that in the original Dragon Ball there was a scene where Goku did the "I have to think like a monkey" thing and it worked for a bit... kind of like drunken-style boxing, but with animal moves instead of drunken moves.

strictly speaking, Vegeta is still a prince because he never had his proper Coronation.

Funny thing is, Vegeta technically won the first fight between himself and Goku. If Gohan, Krillin, and Yajirobe (To cut off the tail) hadn't shown and helped, Goku would've died.... again.

I clicked off to see why nappa is bald inspite of his races inability to grow hair after they're born, and it turns out he shaved his hair off. For a saiyan this is a once in a lifetime thing, he is the saiyan equivelant of getting a vesectamy.

You don't just lose the title of prince but you need a coronation to become a King. A coronation you can't have if your entire race is dead.

During the sayan arc vegeta is the only sane and normal being in the show but if i remember remember right he finally cracks due to being surrounded by insane people in the second half of the namek and starts acting like a dumbass like the rest

I’m surprised you didn’t do all the parts. A copy of episode 10 was put on RU-vid back when there was the 11 minute upload limit for most people, so they broke it into parts.

Vegeta probably doesn’t call himself king because there was never an official transfer of power. Most monarchies require a king to have an official coronation before they can take up ruling. Until then they’re basically like a king-elect. Being a warrior society I wonder if a Saiyan prince can’t take over without beating the king in combat. Which of course never happened so Vegeta still considers himself the prince.

See i always thought he was prince instead of king because dnt kings and queens need a coronation? Like yeah previous king died but you still gotta follow the formalities and with no planet or race to follow up that his title stays as prince

While Vegeta may have married the equivalent of a princess. Vegeta doesn't have a kingdom, therefore he is still considered a prince.

I don't know if anyone can confirm this but from what I know this is the first time in anime a beam battle ever took place. In other Asian media and American media before this you have wizards duels where they use chi or magic as two opposite forces till one person over powers the other but I do believe this is the first in anime. If there is an older anime with a form of "beam struggle" I haven't seen it

Oh no, you’re doing episode 10 in parts… it’s all 1 episode. They only released it in parts because they had to because RU-vid had a 10 minute video limit at the time. You guys really should be doing this one all at once

A slap on Titan is probably the only modern abridged series I really enjoy... But DBZA and Yu-Gi-Oh abridged were such amazing treats that started funny and slowly become endearing through all the banter and humor.

I mean, even if Vegeta wanted to call himself king, without a formal coronation ceremony he isn't one. Take it from a Brit who wishes he didn't have to know this crap.

To become the king u have to be granted the title by the king or the minister of court. Calling urself king just bcuz ur dads dead is pretty pathetic, u have to prove it that u are worthy of it. Also to be a king is who governs the specific region or planet and vegeta does have any.

OK, so Launch. Launch was introduced pretty early in the run of Dragon Ball, and she was PART OF THE MAIN CAST for the entire run of the pre-Z era from that point forward. And then Toriyama, who is notoriously forgetful about his own work, just forgot that she existed and stopped including her. And here's the thing - she's my favorite character. Her deal is that she involuntarily transforms from a meek and naive housewife-type to a gruff, gun-toting gangster whenever she sneezes, which is cathartic in a series where most of the humor is just blatant sexual harassment - oops, now a woman has agency, and a gun, betcha weren't counting on that, fellas! Anyway, it's worth noting that the main characteristics of her transformation are that she gets physically stronger, she becomes filled with rage, and her hair turns yellow, which... y'know... seems similar to something else that happens in this series. My headcanon is that she's a Saiyan that fell to Earth and lost her tail somehow, and she's actually turning Super Saiyan without realizing it.

Vegeta doesn't want to become king because there is no longer a planet vegeta to officially coronate him and he still calls himself prince 1 because being prince simply means being the child of royalty 2 he was actually an official prince while planet vegeta was still around so you could call it a artefact title
