Reacting to DBZ Abridged World's Strongest MOVIE Without Watching Dragon Ball Z

So the reason why Death Zone and World Strongest ended up being made so much later is that they were actually already abridged by some of the members that would make Team Four Star. Because of this they decided to hold on them, until they were made as specials for the channel

Aside from Episode 60 and Kai 2.9, this is my favorite special that TeamFourStar has ever produced; Yamcha blowing up, Goku dropping the Spirit Bomb, and Dr.Kochin's character as a whole were fantastic and so memorable!

I love how in the subtitles, Electrocutioner and Bouncy Butcher have the trademark symbol, but because Kochin is still fighting for it, Freezer doesn't have the symbol lmao. Amazing attention to detail and kudos to whoever wrote the subs for this special

"This is a laboratory - for sciense!" "Yes... evil science!!" "No! Neutral sciense, at worst!" All DBZA movies are great but this one is pure gold! Dr Kochin is so unnecessary evil that it's just beyond hilarious

the plot more or less followed the original movie. Kochin wishes for the dragon to melt the ice and reveal the lab, minus the 50 year grocery trip. given Kochin is way out of the loop, he still believes Roshi is the world's strongest fighter, and attempts to kidnap him for Wheelo to take his body. Goku shows up, big fight against Wheelo ensues, gets defeated, and all is back to normal

some of the TFS voice actors did an earlier version of this movie before TFS was established, as part of a group called "Neighborhood Cluck". TFS decided to do their own remake, and this version actually has references to that version sprinkled in. It's the same with Dead Zone, also a remake of a Neighborhood Cluck production. This movie is supposed to take place after the Saiyan saga, since Gohan is a fighter, but there are obvious issues, most glaring being that Goku is *alive* and not in Other World training, plus he still uses the power pole. And yeah, Wheelo was full on evil in the original movie. Plus Kochin was a cyborg, which is where the machine gun arm came from, but TFS thought that was a stupid, pointless twist so they cut it out.

Dr Slump is a manga series that Toriyama made before Dragon Ball. It's in the same world as Dragon Ball and in some filler stuff you'll see Dr Slump characters show up, namely Arale. In Dragon Ball Super, Arale beats the tar out of Vegeta, and it's great.

The Dragon Balls being used to free the lair from ice is why the plot (in TFS's version) went the way it did. After being used the Earth Dragon Balls shoots off in several directions and turn to stone for 1 full Earth year before becoming active again. So Wheelo couldn't just use the Dragon Balls because they'd already been used. This movie also takes place before Namek.

Always good to see H-Man on the DBZA reacts! This movie I think takes place even before raditz (edit: seems like with the notsaibamen its right after) but like all the dbza and dbz movies its not concurrent with the main canon

World's Strongest is the SECOND of the DBZ movies, and the reason Team Four Star tackled it so long into their career is because... they'd done it already. Just... not as Team Four Star. You see, the start of DBZ Abridged was actually before there WAS a Team Four Star. They had Lanipator (Krillin, Vegeta, Piccolo, etc.) and MasakoX (Goku, Gohan, etc.) but I don't think Takahata was involved yet and the editor Kaiser wasn't involved either. It was called "Neighborhood Cluck Productions," and they did both "Dead Zone" and "World's Strongest," because they were certain it would be an INSANE undertaking to actually abridge the series proper... but of course, times change, and ambitions expand as vividly as vision. You'd have barely recognized it, apart from the voices. It was actually pretty mean-spirited, leaning heavily into what TFS currently calls the "assholes are funny" misconception. Krillin was treated with even LESS respect, with even Goku being annoyed he was there... Gohan was inverted to be mentally slow... Some of it was still funny... So after they did World's Strongest and met with Megumi, Takahata and Kaiser to do a proper DBZ Abridged series, they upped their standards immensely. This is why the first movie they tackled as Team Four Star was Tree of Might, the THIRD DBZ movie. They were keeping things in order. in Seasons 3, after evolving immensely, they decided to go back and do this for real. I cannot stress enough how cutting-edge and clean the first two episodes of DBZA felt compared to the Neighborhood Cluck movies. Yeah, now they feel extremely dated, especially compared to Seasons 2 and 3, but Kaiser's editing was next level. Actually editing custom lip-flaps was black magic back in those days, and even those really bad photoshop edits were something you just didn't see. And of course, the whole attitude of the production changed for the better. It wasn't just about the characters saying ridiculous things, it was about celebrating the characters as much as it was making a parody. It wasn't until mid Season 2 that they had truly wrung the toxicity out of the writing, but it immediately felt like a more sincere effort, that has since managed to give the series opportunities to be legitimately genuine and even heartfelt at times. In those moments, you could feel a real love for the series shining through. It's been a long road, with a lot of lessons learned. With a pretty happy ending, honestly.

The drive-by on Yamcha kills me every time.

This movie took place pre-Namek Saga. In it, an avalanche covered Dr. Wheelo's lair, and his body was destroyed by frostbite, so he was put in that stasis. Since he was the smartest man in the world, he decided he also wanted to become the strongest, hence the plot follows. In the original, he was evil and was killed with the Spirit Bomb.

Hey, did these guys watch the Abridged Kais, yet? Haven't seen them react to even the first one after the Saiyan Saga. They're good! The second one with Goku mashing the muffin button while giggling gave me a good 5 minute laughing fit, the first time I saw it.

I think they put the movie here since they mentioned Dr Wheelo in the episode with Bulma knowing where Gero’s lair was, plus Gero mentioned him in the Android 13 abridged movie Quite liked how Wheelo wasn’t a villain though like in the movie, added a bit more character depth to him plus made for some good jokes poking holes into the whole body snatching plot

As they said at the end, this was made for their 2 million subscribers special. Originally, the VA's of TFS were part of another group, who did an abridged version of Dead Zone and World's Strongest. Which is why they put off redoing them.

This is both my favorite DBZ movie and DBZA movie. I've watched this so many times and it still makes me laugh just as much as the first.🤣

For movies 3-8(Tree of Might-Broly), they placed them to the closest point they could have taken place. Movies 1 & 2(Dead Zone & World's Strongest), had been adapted by a precursor to TeamFourStar(Studio Cluck Productions, comprised of Lanipator, MasakoX, & Vegeta3986), so they re-did them as their 1 million and 2 million subscriber specials.

"Slump's" is a reference to "Dr. Slump", Toriyama's big hit before DragonBall, whose characters canonically exist in the DB world, too

The funny thing is this version showed the doctor as more sympathetic but there was one before this where he was a villain. It's hard to find it now though, don't know if it's still online.

Dr Wheelo, his assistant Kochin and the bio-warriors are some of the more obscure movie villains; next to the monster Hildegarn, Turles, or Bio-Broly (a lame Broly clone that can't even beat Goten and Trunks, two kids.) I'd never heard of Dr Wheelo, until I played DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, where he was one of the fighters. (They wrote his name as "Willow", in the game.)

If we're talking timeframe for the movies, Deadzone would be the earliest, and could theoretically even take place just before DBZ as a series even begins with Goku and Piccolo still being adversaries and Kami still having a much larger role in things. From there, World's Strongest and Tree of Might would be at about the same time within the middle of the Saiyan saga, post Goku returning from King Kai's world.

Why didn't they ask Shenron for Dr. Wheelos brain to be put in a body? Because they're scientists! They want to do it themselves, also, then they can do it again :D

4:28 Melting the ice off the lair actually WAS the real wish. Quite literally the stupidest one ever made in the series. Some might argue for the first one ever made in Dragon Ball, when Oolong wished for a girl's panties (which is referenced here as well), but he did that by jumping in front of a villain who was about to wish to take over the world, so he was just shouting out the first thing that came to his mind in order to quite literally save the world, so I'd say this one was dumber. 10:12 This is an actual traditional Japanese method of bathing. You mostly see it out in the rural countryside, rather than in towns or cities, of course, which would explain Goku using it, as he lives out in the middle of nowhere. TFS didn't change things as much as you might think. Basically all they changed was making Wheelo a good guy. And Kochin seemingly being obsessed with penis. :P And of course, the animation at the end was done by them, since they changed the whole ending of beating him with the Spirit Bomb. This was definitely one of their best works, in my opinion, even if I may be a little biased, as I had this movie on VHS tape as a kid and watched the hell out of it.

So, the Garlic Jr Movie and the World's Strongest movie are actually the first two DBZ movies. The Tree of Might movie was the 3rd one. TFS went back and did abridged versions of Garlic Jr and World' Strongest as celebrations of sub milestones. Obviously, the movies aren't canon, but IIRC, the world's strongest is supposed to take place before everyone leaves for namek, and the garlic jr movie happens... I think before raditz, technically. Definitely before Vegeta and Nappa. Can't remember if Goku does or doesn't use the kaioken in garlic jr, so it's either before or after raditz.

Not sure why anyone is trying to fit the movie to the canon of the actual show when none of the movies were ever canon to begin with. World Strongest can't fit anywhere in the actual show, there are so many plot holes it screams filler. The fact TFS had fun and made some movies fit their narrative was amazing in its own right. And although this is one of those movies that fills weird in where they placed it, the last movie forces it to fit as "canon" to their story.

Clearly Kochin has never met Goku, Chi-Chi, Krillin and Tien. They all surpassed Roshi in a lot of things. Even Gohan is stronger than Roshi and he is 6 years old

yall should react to the original series even though you know whats going to happen the abridged series cut away a lot of context and the stuff you see in this series is just that a parody it hold no weight to the original series and they do be butchering iconic moments ex. goku and gohan kamehameha this moment show that goku is a supportive father that give good inspiring speeches, dbz is really a good written anime DBS is something entirely different tho.
