This song was based on an actress with Japanese parentage in China during the war. Hence Dimash's costume here reminiscent of what men wore during those times. I've seen the original singer's version (he's Japanese) and I've seen Jacky Cheung's cover (famous Hong Kong's singer).....both are good and different and I must say Dimash simply took this song to a completely new level and make it his. Dimash didn't know Mandarin and he had to sing this song in Mandarin (he only had one week to prepare and learn) and to perform it to a predominantly Mandarin speaking audience in China. That took a lot of courage, hardwork and incredible talent because Mandarin is not an easy language. I've watched many foreign singers famous for singing in their own languages but singing (hardly any good at all) in Mandarin.
I just have a month looking at Dimash interpretation an different reaction and I just can not stop watching again and again and again. I can not explain. It like a routine now for me. If I feel sad I put some Dimash videos or songs. Or if I am driving to work. Doesn't matter. I just have to listen to him. Is like Angel's melodies. Thanks Jen to react to Dimash.
Thank you!❤ This is one of my favourites from Dimash, that had me in tears - yet again! This was the first time he'd sang in Chinese, as a "thank you" to his Chinese audience - but as he didn't speak the language, that meant learning the song phonetically... in just one week! He was really nervous he might not pronounce the lyrics correctly, but the song actually won him his first of several prestigious awards - and I love hearing him perform it live in his concerts, as he frequently changes it up by adding some *gorgeous* melismas to the start..!😍😍😍

Dimash is the best singer in the world at present.... but if your also looking for other amazing talent then you should listen to 1) Diana Ankudinova a female version of Dimash but younger , singing "Derniere Danse" and "Human" 2) Marcelito Pomoy singing the "Prayer" which is just wow. 3) Morissette Amon "stone cold" 4) Katrina Velarde doing impressions of other famous artists. 5) KZ Tandingan doing "Rolling in the Deep"

Dimash has a new song only a day old, he sings it at his Sochi concert and it's called "passione" Take plenty of fluids in before you watch because normally you don't get chance, lol Seriously it is absolutely epic, set to become my favorite!!

I highly recommend you check out Dimash's "Ikanaide" at the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021. It's actually the same song as "Autumn Strong," but with the original Japanese lyrics (the Chinese version has completely different lyrics). His vocals have dramatically improved for "Ikanaide."

Greetings of Peace to everyone…! And to all the personnel’s who worked with Dimash, and all others who did the translation, produced videos and uploaded it on line. My heartfelt gratitude to the reactors worldwide for your great help and services, so that artists can improve and or develop their talents and gifts at their best in order to serve better the listening public. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it and to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, courage, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his singing career to the best of his ability the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living our day to day life. Hope Dimash listeners around the world especially the young will learn something from his optimistic views in pursuing his career, his persistency, courage, creativity and perseverance. His labors and hard work are now indeed bearing fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to him and to his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the singer and the content of its music. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although all his music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below about these music is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. The power and beauty of his voice is so incredible. The fact that he is able to sing his music with ease and comfort even in a very high notes and or in lowest notes in different languages and in various voices are really amazing. But some others too, cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they wonder and said oooh… is Dimash human..? I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and probably surprise by it or cannot believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation. But I believed and are convinced that Dimash 20 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is really gifted but his hard work and years of practice and experiences proves it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. For all those who read these reflections and commentaries of mine about this piece of music mostly performed by Dimash. If you think it is helpful for you, for your family and friends you can share it to them as you please, and I do really appreciate it. If ever they violated some rules of that country, or make some offenses or rather misbehave sometimes, probably some legal investigation will be done by the legal authorities to clarify things and settle the matters properly and justly in a good manner. We should not be rush to go into judgment without any lawful proceedings. If the case is great and they are found guilty some disciplinary actions will be taken soon for correctional reasons. But if the case and issues is just a minor and little thing, why we should be harsh to them..? Could we not give them some other chances…? It does not mean that we should always tolerate all the time the misbehavior's but rather we should remember that all of us are not perfect as well, all the time; we commit mistakes every now and then. Remember the Golden Rule… I believed that it is not also easy for foreigners all the way through, living, working and serving in other countries where everything are new to them, they have to adjust themselves, I supposed they also try their best to do good and give their utmost quality service to the place where they are. Indeed we should be grateful to them for whatever good contribution they have to the society. I believed that people will not resists to change when we show them our love and concerns and leads them towards goodness and truth without being harsh to them, this is the real facts and irony of it, that the more we are cruel or harsh to people seems the more they are resistance to change. Many times because of human weakness, even if the person just commit a little bit of offense seems we forgot everything good they have done, and we just see and focus only and overpower by the little mistake that they did. If we let anger prevail in our hearts surely we become blinded to see the good deeds in people. And if this behaviors continues to settle in our hearts how painful it is, we cause in other people’s hearts especially to the foreigners. Once again, thank you for your music and service to us. It wouldn't hurt to go back and watch the intro to Gloria Wu's version for the context of the song.(use the "cc" button to see what he is saying.) Her versions are also recommended for the backstories of Ep. 7 "Daididau", and especially Ep. 8 "Daybreak", which not only describes the tragic story behind the lyrics, but also how he lost his voice the day before having to sing it.
Jenn, thank you but I was totally confused. I saw that you had the subtitles on so I think you used the video from the channel Gloria Wu but you didn't mention the back story & I didn't ever see you looking at the screen much to be able to read the words. You also didn't mention the women in the audience crying like I always do knowing the story & words to this song & to Daybreak I can't watch either one from Gloria Wu channel without crying every time. PLEASE rewatch including the story for this & PLEASE use from her channel including story for Daybreak & have tissues ready
