Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
Scream was the first Dreamcatcher video I saw. BlackPink was my intro to K-Pop in the middle of 2020 and I was about 5 months or so into discovering new groups and I came across a thumbnail of a woman in a black dress holding a sword and the title was Scream. So, I clicked play and I've been stuck in the Dreamcatcher black hole ever since. Every comeback, every album, they continue to surprise me and I've yet to get tired of listening to any of their songs. They're my ult group in all of music.
Scream is the title song of Dreamcatcher's first full-length album Dystopia: Tree of Language. This album is a masterpiece and I hope you hear it someday.
