YES! Totally spot on, Miss BrandyBerry! You would not believe how many people when they first listen to this one think it's from a James Bond film 🎥😁 I mean they're too far off with the feel & sound but "Surrender" was never featured in a James Bond movie. "Surrender" was also an English adaptation written by Pomus & Shuman in 1961 of an even older Neaopolitan (Naples, Italy) song composed by two brothers in 1894. Ernesto De Curtis was the music composer & his brother, who was a poet and a painter, wrote the lyrics to "Torna a Surrento". The song would not be published until 1905 (I think). Another Italian song that Elvis recorded, and sang in Italian, not English, is "Santa Lucia". Tried to provide the link but YT Gods have decided to be fickle 😂 Anyway, "Santa Lucia" is also sung in a somewhat operatic style, but on that one Elvis chose (in my opinion) a softer operatic style to sing it in.
