You should 100% play it for the story, the gameplay its pretty good and you dont even need to roll gacha or anything to complete all of the story mode (of course if you feel like having a challenge once you understand the combat and all, there is the option of playing HARD and EXTREME mode).

I described this game as "Waifu Collection Depression Simulator". If you try playing the game, you'll know exactly what I mean. The gameplay has elements of DMC and Bayonetta, and the devs make that inspiration known. The story has an Evangelion vibe, because the founders of MiHoYo are huge Evangelion fans. Also, Honkai is their baby. Their MAIN baby, despite it being rather niche and catering to otaku degens, while Genshin (the mainstream game raking in cash from the gacha) is treated almost as a side project.

I have been suggesting Honkai Impact to many RU-vid channels. I'm really happy someone took interest in it

I picked this game up three weeks ago and feel like I did myself a disservice watching most of the animations a couple of years ago. I have not been this invested in something in a very long time, and playing through all available chapters in these past few weeks has been an incredible experience. I just wish I could have experienced it with completely fresh eyes. Though many has suggested it already, I do recommend giving the game a chance before going any further. Nevertheless I will look forward to seeing you experience these videos for the first time either way.

Fuck yeah. Honkai is my favorite story in gaming right now and it's awesome seeing so many new people checking it out lately. I really loved the commentary in-between animations. It adds a lot to the video. Btw, these animated shorts are actual in game cutscenes that show up at the climax of big story arcs. Thought you'll be a little confused as you go on since you have them a bit out of order and there'll be a lot of missing context that you get from playing the game.

Going through this game is legitimately like watching an Anime but you’re playing it instead, a story that’s still going on for 5+ years and you can see them improve and improve all through out.

just a quick rundown of the character's powers shown in the video herrscher of the void(kiana): summons pocket dimension to either trap enemies,call an army of honkai beasts or to block enemy projectiles,teleportation,able to stop time in a small area. herrscher of reason(bronya): she can create weapons out of thin air as long as she knew what it looks and function but takes a bit strain for her if the weapon is too complex seele: has an alter ego that is hellbent on protecting seele,malevolent and vicious to all that causes harm to seele but this alter ego has a soft spot despite how hostile looking she is

Honkai is not evil, its more like a force of nature fighting back against technology, it grows in strength at the same speed of human technology advancement and tries to "bring humans back to the stone age" when technology has developed too far so to speak. In Genshin there is a Celestia faction, it destroys a nation whenever that nation became too technologically developed, everybody assumes its evil, I suspect its because they are actually trying to prevent Honkai from happening in their world.

The true name of the game is Honkai 3rd Impact (but no one use this order), because that is the first world-shaking event in the game. If you follow in which order the logo highlights you see that the right order. Mihoyo took so much inspiration from Neon Genesis Evangelion, the anime from the 90s. There, like in Honkai, in the year 2000 occurs the "Second Impact". That is why you won't find any game named Honkai Impact 2nd or 1st.

Getting possessed by the Honkai isn't like turning to the Dark Side. The Dark Side doesn't puppet your body around and do things that you'd never do. It isn't brainwashing, it replaces your consciousness with its own "agent" if that makes sense. Of course, a Herrscher Host does still get to watch. =)

I'll make shortlist in order and give some context for what's happening: "Final Lesson" supposed to be before Bronya story you just watched. Kiana vs Himeko, her teacher. Himeko have like Honkai cancer, which eradicates her body. At the start of the video she has Vial of antidote, which is the only one, and supposed to help her heal. "XI-EX CG" happens after Bronya story. Kiana is in Hiding for what her Herrscher done "Meteoric Salvation" Kiana's redemption ark and inner fight with her and Herrscher inside her. "Lamment of the Fallen" Kiana vs Mei, her best friend (Herrscher of Thunder) "Chapter XV CG" new character introduction - Durandal vs Kevin "Reawakening" Herrscher of the Sentience introduction "Shattered Samsara" Kiana vs Herrscher of Sentience (HoS). Now, this one need introduction, as ending might not make sense at all. HoS is possessed Fu Hua, Kiana's "classmate". But she is actually immortal and is like 800 years old. Whenever she is killed, she Resurrects herself. Therefore she saw many betrayals, and always felt alone, since she saw every friend of her, die. She considers immortality as a Curse, which Kiana helps out on this cinematic "Everlasting Flames" don't need much context. Just enjoy the spectacle. But it's fun to know, that that video, recollects many thing from "Last Lesson" cinematic. Also Bronya always calls Kiana "Idiotka" and cinematic showcasing deep relationship between them. Without this, line "She is an idiot, and idiots doesn't quit" would feel out of place, but that gave me chills. "Thus spoke Apocalypse" didn't watch myself yet, as i not that deep into the game yet. Honestly, it's a great character driven story, which made many people cry. Genshin story? nah, that's like birthday party with a unicorn, compared to this. And Animation is INSANE on later episodes. People say that CGI and Anime doesn't go well together, but here comes Honkai and says "Fuck that shit" you can even watch it in 60fps on youtube

And Honkai is one of my fave game since 2016 and I'm glad that they ported it on PC, the gameplay is repetitive but it is fun and what's the most unique of it above other on it's genre is the story telling, It might be slow pace but it's worth it for me but lucky for those new players who don't need to wait years to proceed the story.. If you enjoy hack and slash like Bayonetta or DMC but with more wifus, this is one is right up your alley but if you don't like the Gacha you could ignore it.. You don't need to whale up to progress the story anyway cuz most of the time the game will force you to play the characters involved in the story anyway. But I won't recommend this game if you don't had self control since it is gacha game. Story: 10/10 Gameplay: 8/10 Difficulty: Harder than Genshin Music: 10/10 Events: 9/10 Character Design: 10/10 Level Designs: 9/10 Interface: well it's still mobile form. Dubs: Well it's kinda like Visual Novel so you'll read a lot cuz there is no English dub and sometimes it is dub sometimes it is not. Game Audio: Audio optimization is inconsistent sometimes, I suggest to lower your volume before playing it. Well these are just my Bias ratings since 2016 until now so you could ignore it. 😆 Btw, just ignore the community who compare both Honkai and Genshin of which one is better cuz it doesn't make sense to begin with since they are way too different from each other from Genre to Gameplay and Honkai is way older than Genshin.

Trying to not spoil, but when Kiana has golden eyes she's not herself. The thing with some Hersherr cores is that they kind of have a mind of their own. Some are cooperative, some...some want to see the world burn. Just pay attention to Kiana's eyes on the future, it's a cool little way to know what's going on. Golden is bad, blue is good.

That Bronya and Seele moment almost made me cry. I played the game but skipped all of the CG and story because mecha isn't exactly my thing so I couldn't be bothered. I've heard good things for Honkai tho so not saying it's bad. just not my thing plus...lots of deaths I think ahaha excited for deaths in Genshin

So to answer your question about if its like being like a sith... sort of. Honkai energy is very corrupting. Normal people just turn into zombies pretty quick and only those that are very resistant to honkai energy can become valkyries because their powers are powered from honkai energy. In this universe honkai energy is comparable to nuclear energy in how it very destructive and how even just its radiation is corrupting but honkai energy is a lot more powerful than nuclear so they can power things like mechs from it (in real life we totally could have mechs and stuff but we dont have a dense enough energy source to do it really so thats why we dont have crude mechs IRL). For the Herrschers specifically they have an utter boat load of honkai energy in them, they're like walking nuclear bombs pretty much but there is an entity called the Will of Honkai that puts a Herrscher sentience inside of these Herrscher Gems that materialize in certain people, so take Kiana for instance when she turned evil what happened basically is that the Will of Honkai materialized a herrscher gem inside of Kiana and the the Herrscher of Void's sentience took over Kianas body and mind. Kiana was still sort of conscious and watching everything that she did but she couldn't control herself. For bronya her case was a little different, she grabbed a Herrscher gem that was initially the 1st Herrschers (the one that blew up berlin) and it tried to take over her body but the Herrscher sentience inside that gem had previously been okay with humanity and stopped being controlled by the Will of the Honkai so Bronya could overpower it and gain the Herrscher powers without becoming a slave to the Honkai.

The game's story is no joke my favourite story of all time right now up there with Planescape, Witcher 3, and Nier series. The character work in this game is probably the best of all time. Also like how you make a joke "what if Einstein was a hot MILF" that was very humorous. EDIT: "Whatever goes for Russia in this universe" Considering it got nuked TWICE (yes the whole country and almost all of the continent) by Void Queen it's kind of fitting.

I had no idea that the Introduction to Honkai-verse video exist. I played up to chapter 14, read up to the 2nd divine key manga, done the Anti-entropy Visual Novel, but part of me still find the story a bit confusing. The Honkai-verse video really just cleared a lot of it up for me. Do you guys know if there is any other video/source I should look into?
