If you like metal & backpipes, Germany has you covered. In Extremo, Feuerschwanz, Saltatio Mortis, Subway To Sally, Corvus Corax, Schandmaul just to name a few. The entire "medieval metal" genre is pretty much only a german thing, the english speaking countries are more into folk metal.

Time to clear up a few things here: Feuerschwanz (pronounced "Foyer-shwanz" in English) consists of Peter Henrici aka Hauptmann Feuerschwanz (Blue Armor), Benjamin Metzner aka Richard Hodenherz (both the lead singers of the group), Rolf Hering aka Rollo H. Schönhaar on drums, Jan Jamaszyk aka Jame Hoddinson on bass guitar, Johanna von der Vögelweide aka Stefanie Pracht (violin and hurdy-gurdy) and the two kitties MuschMusch and Myu aka Jenny Diehl. Alea, the Humble, lead singer of Saltatio Mortis, could not be on set for the main filming due to a hospital stay. He filmed his part a little later and at a different location, which was edited into the overall video. But that is only noticeable when the camera goes into the long shot and he is not visible The musicians of the various bands are very close to each other and also run a few side bands together. Everything else has already been mentioned by others. Only one small thing is missing still: never mess with those two kitties. They'll stomp you into the ground with a cold grin on their faces. Many greetings from Germany The Lady P.S. For me, this is the best cover version I've ever heard... And forgive me, Man o War fans, but it has more impact and power than the original.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Feuerscwhanz means Firesnake right? Or maybe Firetail. My Highschool (or the Swedish equivalent) German is about as rusty as a 1993 Ford Fiesta. Edit: I'm aware of the other use of the word Schwanz, but I'm not sure that was the intended interpretation. Or maybe they left it ambiguous who knows hehe

The guy in the greem armor with the short hair is Thomas Winkler, the woman with the nice necklace is Melissa Bonny, the guy in black with the epic beard is Alea der Bescheidene (Alea the Humble) the lead singer of Saltatio Mortis, the rest of the musicians are from Feuerschwanz. The 2 girls fighting with Axe and Shield are part of the Feuerschwanz entourage called the MetMietzen (Mead Kittens). And if the video is you thing you'll love Darkenguard by Saltatio Mortis fat. Blind Guardian. Cheers and keep on reacting, Another aging meatlhead ;)

Feuerschwanz are great fun. All the guests have worked with the band prior to this. Melissa Bonny (from Ad Infinitum) did guest vocals on another cover song, titled "Ding" (Thing). The original, by the Germany based multi national dancehall/ reggae/ hip hop group Seeed, was a huge hit in the German speaking areas in 2006. Video is great fun and selfexplanatory. Thomas Winkler was the lead singer for the power metal band Gloryhammer from 2012 to 2021 under the stage name Angus McFife and now has his own band Angus McSix which is also his new stage name. He featured on the live version of "I See Fire" (Ed Sheeran/ The Hobbit cover). Members of Saltatio Mortis (SaMo) and Feuerschwanz have collaborated on various occasions. One example: both of SaMo's bagpipe players featured on the live version of Schildmaid (Shield Maiden). By the way, Saltatio Mortis made a cover of EC's Hypa Hypa (the first of seven official alternative versions) and it's an absolute treat.

Originally found you via your Ren reactions but as a 51 year old Metalhead stayed when I saw the other content. Elizabeth from The Charismatic Voice has done a reaction to this (wearing a suitable costume). Great reaction. Would be interested in seeing you react to Wind Rose - Diggy diggy hole, Alestorm - Drink and Dream Evil - The Book of Heavy Metal if you are unfamiliar with them.

Hi, if you're looking for Manowar covers, check out the band "Van Canto" and their version of "Kings Of Metal". They are an a capella metal band from Munich, Germany and the only real instruments are the drums, everything else they do with their voices and mics. Sounds weird, but they rock!
@asvagar8163

not Munich, but Bingen am Rhein. Steff, Ike and Basti are from there ( or at least very close to there )

Yes, those are bagpipes- however my understanding is that they aren't a scottish variety of bagpipe but a German variety... turns out that bagpipes exist in a whole lot of countries from Ireland to India

Manowar are still touring worldwide, but they were last in the USA in 2014. And not in Canada at all. They are mainly active in Europe and there mainly in central located Germany. I don't have a problem with badly pronounced names. I myself am just bad at learning languages. It's enough for me to see that someone is trying. Castles have been built in Europe in various forms over the centuries. With the invention of cannons, they largely lost their protective function and were no longer built. Canada was too late for such castles. At the beginning of the 2000s there was a folk metal wave. In 2004 Feuerschwanz was founded in Germany as a parody to make fun of it. Today they are more than just a parody, but one of the most important representatives. But they don't take themselves or the scene seriously. The hurdy-gurdy player (the thing with the crank) mostly plays the violin. They are known worldwide mainly for their covers. But they also have their own songs. Mostly in German, but also in other languages. As is typical in the scene, the language of older role models is left as in the original. FEUERSCHWANZ - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (ABBA Cover) (Official Video) | Napalm Records FEUERSCHWANZ - Knochenkarussell (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records One of the two singers has a successful side project: dArtagnan - Meine Liebste, Jolie (LIVE / Offizielles Video) ft. Patty Gurdy Melissa Bonny was born in French-speaking Switzerland, but her own band consists of Germans. She co-founded the Swiss trance metal band Rage of Light and later left for her own symphonic metal band Ad Infinitum: RAGE OF LIGHT - Mechanicals (OFFICIAL VIDEO) AD INFINITUM - Upside Down (Live in Oberhausen 2022) Thomas Winkler is a German-speaking Swiss citizen and notary. At the time the video was recorded, he was still a member of the power metal band Gloryhammer. He was the stage character Angus McFive there, hence the green armor. When the video was released, he was fired by email without explanation. Shortly afterwards, individual members got into legal trouble with third parties. A German songwriter suggested adopting Gloryhammer's concept and the two formed their own band. For me, the copy is better than the original: ANGUS McSIX - Laser-Shooting Dinosaur (Official Video) | Napalm Records Saltatio Mortis is one of the bands that Feuerschwanz wanted to make fun of. They started out as an acoustic street band in 2000 and still play acoustic concerts today. They later added electric guitars. They became internationally known through their English-language songs, but like Feuerschwanz they are primarily German-speaking. Here is a song that is available in German and English. The German version has English subtitles and the sound of the German language fits better: Saltatio Mortis - Finsterwacht feat. Blind Guardian (Official Video) Saltatio Mortis - Darkenguard feat. Blind Guardian (Official Video)

Thank you so much for all the insightful information! I really appreciate the details about Manowar, Feuerschwanz, and the other bands. It's fascinating to learn about the history and evolution of these bands, especially how Feuerschwanz started as a parody and became a significant representative of the folk metal scene. I had no idea about the hurdy-gurdy player mostly playing the violin - that's really interesting! Your comment about the castles in Europe and Canada also adds a great historical perspective. Thanks for the video suggestions as well; I'll definitely check those out. And thank you for your understanding about name pronunciations - I'm always trying my best! Your knowledge and support mean a lot. Rock on! 🤘
