What better way to get back into Spotlight than with SNSD! Hope you guys enjoy this one, a bit of an explanation as to why I chose these songs is available in the intro :) PS - Yeah, the intros to some of the MVs have been cut out (without me knowing), the translation of the lyrics may suck, I know. I fell for the same trap as I did with EXO's MAMA (that sounds like a mom insult) when I didn't realize that intro was cut out. I know, my bad.
Please respond to Fifty Fifty's song Cupid, which is making a sensation with New Jeans. It is a song that entered the Billboard Hot 100 faster than New Jeans, and is a next-generation girl group that will lead kpop with them.
Thank you for checking out SNSD 😊😊 i think SNSD's song title U Think will definitely hit your heart. The lyrics the choreography and the visuals are insane. The mv production on the top too.
First of all, thanks for reacting to Girls' Generation and secondly, you should definitely react more to the Soshis, especially their Japanese songs that are a BOP. For the Japanese songs, you'll have to watch the live versions because most of the ones with MVs are ballads and a few cute ones, so with that being said, I hope you'll give the girls a chance and see why they are the queens of kpop.
YES!!! This made me love you even more As a fairly new kpop fan whose favorite bg is SHINee and favorite gg is SNSD, I think 2nd gen kpop music and idols deserve so much more recognition Thank you for this reaction so much! PS: reaction video or not, you should definitely listen to Chocolate Love by SNSD. My personal favorite from them and so underrated!
Nice choices!!!🥺👏🔥💕 Thank youu sooo much for SNSD Reaction!!!!! I've been a fan since their debut! Please react 'Flower Power' / 'Hoot' / 'I GOT A BOY' / 'MR.TAXI' / 'Oh!' too ? 'The Boys' is their iconic song, the MV is so cool and beautiful! 'Paparazzi' is so cathy and the lyrics are thrilling! I'm waiting for your next Reactions for SNSD!!! Thank you so much, I'm really happy to find SNSD Reaction!🥺😭🤦♀️🙌🔥💕
DG, buddy, I am usually not a fan when people go constantly back, but in case of Catch me if you can, you could've done another 15 times and I'd still love it. I think you chosen well. Second Gen is just something else with the likes of Sonyeo Sidae (SNSD, GG, Girl's Generation), 2ne1, Browned Eyed Girls (hope you'll check them out), Kara, Wonder Girls, 4Minute, f(x), T-Ara, Sistar and some others like After School, Miss A, Brave GIrls (first gen of them), Apink, Nine Muses, Dal Shabet, Stellar and so on. Although 3rd and 4th Gen are really good, I often feel something is missing that the 2nd Gen had. But that's just my opinion.
I've been waiting for an snsd reaction since you reacted to FOREVER1 .. thank you i love it .. i need more .. you can check their other hit songs .. no skip : You think Party Lion heart All night Holiday I got a boy Mr mr Hoot Genie Run devil run Oh!
I will not stop saying that I'm both a Sone and Once too ❤.. SNSD and TWICE are my ULT in kpop ❤.. I've been a Sone more than a decade and a Once half a decade 😅.. SNSD was the first kpop I discovered way back..😊😊 as much as I love their title tracks I'm a sucker of their b-sides -
try to check Genie by Girls Generation lyrics... ICONIC Coz a lot of 3rd, 4th Generation kpop idol cover it.... they are the original KPOP GIRL GROUP REPRESENTATIVE that is why they are called "NATION'S GIRL GROUP. debuted AUGUST 5, 2007 WITH INTO THE NEW WORLD.
they were THE it girls back then. fun fact when the boys was announced basically all the groups that had announced comebacks for that week immediately delayed them after the boys teasers dropped they were THAT impactful these are mothers fr
I'm a veteran SONE, and I couldn't be happier that you did this spotlight. Guess the girls were so ahead of the time and I wish more people discovered them more
"The boys" and "catch me if you can" will always be part of my favourite K-pop songs ever. They never get old and I'm always hyped after hearing them 👍
All their songs still slap! And they are still THE blueprint for girlgroups imo. I miss their maturity in current day kpop. Even with APink's comeback, who certainly have the age/experience, but SNSD still has this maturity/woman-ness about them that I don't see much of these days. Brave Girls sadly disbanded as one of the last groups that had it. At least KARA and T-ARA surprised us with new music. Don't get me wrong, I love 4th and 3rd gen, but groups like SNSD, Brown Eyed Girls, Sistar had something different. Anyway, I'm really Iiking the spotlights.
i miss them to but A-pink is one of my ultimate bias groups they reach they're 12 years of career and they made more comeback than SNSD as a full group during the past 6 years. 3 of them reach they're 30 years old and the 2 other are not far .i agree with you i also love the 3rd /4 th gen but SISTAR ,T-ARA and KARA got something different back in a day the female groups are more mature more glamour they paved the way i'am just sad for them because they ust debut to early if SNSD ,KARA ,A-PINK or SISTAR could be a the peak of they're popularity like back in a day i'am sure they can also sold other 1 million albums and made a very big fandom .like the rookie groups we got now (IVE ,NEW JEANS ,LESSERAFIM).
@@fabricemaire4433 kinda not fair to compare amount of comebacks between 16th years old group vs 12 years. Its a very different to go in hiatus in 10th year to still beeing in 6th when even first renewal not beeing reached, not to mention 3 members fully leaving company. As for age all SNSD members already in their 30+ that brings in a very different values as professional and as personal goals. Even having one big comeback with amount of content they provided is huge as it is.
@@love_b575 XD i don't said that to dismiss SNSD i love them . i just said than A-PINK make comeback more often as a group . but it's because of many factor . Taeyeon as a huge solo career and made a lot of solo album , Yoona as a busy career as actress ,Hyo as also many solo project ,DJ ,dance , solo music etc.. Tiffany live most of the time in US to. I can understand than they can't take the time to comeback often as a group. i say that because i regret to not see them more often , like with KARA ,T-ARA ,GIRLSDAY ,EXID and many groups than i love from the 2nd or early 3th gen .
Even without the intros to The Boys and Paparazzi it's incredible how you figured out the metaphors and meanings of the MV and the lyrics, I really enjoyed it! Catch Me If You Can isn't my favourite but I can appreciate it for what it is, which is an insane EDM banger! As you said, the 4 songs you chose couldn't be more different, and that's exactly why Girls' Generation have been so successfull for so long. They excel at any kind of concept, they are the queens of concepts in K-Pop when it comes to versatility! I hope you continue checking them out from time to time, it's really worth it!
Nice to see your comment Sasko. ________ + They're one of the funniest girl group. I only started checking SNSD because of their comedy, but now also liking their music.
Girls generation is THE NATIONS GIRL GROUP. they are the most diverse girl group ever. they have the best japanese discography. they to be my ultimate bias group and hyoyeon my ultimate bias. They were always way ahead of their time both vocal and performance wise. Snsd r legends of k-pop I'm glad you're checking them out😄
for CATCH ME IF YOU CAN the girls said on several occasions that this choreography was difficult and tiring for them. every time they performed this song in concert they had to do a long pose afterwards, usually after this song there was an intermission and the girls came back with the ballads from their albums. for me at this time the girls were at their peak. they had all proportions and incredible physiques and all were incredibly beautiful
the craziest line in paparazzi is the second chorus "life is a party, the more damage it causes the more it sells" that is the literal way paparazzis prey on celebrities. To them, the life of celebrities is their party. No matter if it's on a garage or their suite rooms, they will take pictures of you even if they are awake or asleep. The "boom boom boom" on the song means the flash of cameras
Just a little heads up, it's worth watching these videos from SM's channel, as annoying as it may be without subs, because the videos you watched for Paparazzi and The Boys just cut out the intros to the song which are both really fun to watch.
I'll make sure to go back to the original channel and give it another watch with the intros!! I forgot that I got screwed the same way with the EXO MAMA MV, where the intro was also cut out 🙃
I love the way you analyze every single detail from the visuals to the lyrics. The next 5 MVs should definitely be: Into the New World (debuted) Genie Run Devil Run I Got A Boy Mr. Mr. Theirs ballads are also quite meaningful: Forever (live or video lyrics) Complete (live or video lyrics) Born to Be A Lady (live or video lyrics) Stay Girls (live or video lyrics) Not Alone (live or video lyrics) Time Machine (live or mv) All My Love Is For You (live or mv) Indestructible (live or video lyrics)
I think you can feel the variety of music from this reaction video alone, but if you listen to more than 300 Girls' Generation songs, you'll find that they've done almost everything. It's like The Beatles of rock music. Of course, new K-Pop fans will pay attention to the current K-Pop artists, but Girls' Generation is the role model that the current K-Pop girl groups look up to. This is also like The Beatles (LoL). Its leader, Taeyeon, is still active in music and is admired by younger generations. Girls' Generation's works are uncompromising and wonderful to listen to, and their live performances are even more impressive.
The girl with the short blonde hair in The Boys and Paparazzi is Sunny. She was my bias ever since she moved to help when Taeyeon was nearly kidnapped from the stage during a performance. This was during Run Devil Run, so between Gee and The Boys. The MC of the show managed to grab the kidnapper, but Sunny grabbed Taeyeon's arm and wouldn't let go. The kidnapper was basically sent home to "ponder his wrong actions," and that was it. Because "he was such a passionate fan." So Taeyeon was basically forced to suck it up with a smile on her face. I really liked your interpretations of The Boys and Paparazzi, because the attempted kidnapping was not the only instance of bad/scary/awful things happening to the members, often publically, and they pretty much had to just grin and bear it. Most k-pop groups in 2nd gen did. It's so refreshing now to hear companies take action to protect their idols (such as KQ Entertainment bring suit against the people who put trackers on Ateez's vans), because that was definitely not always the case! Your discussion of the lyrics reminded me of that incident and really made me think that yeah, the members are in their own way standing up for themselves and taking back their lives, in a sense. I always like to hear your interpretation! I'm not sure if that was the intended meaning behind the song, but to me it feels spot on.
*I was about to sleep but who cares, it’s GG content and Im not waiting for the morning to see this!!! 👑 More Girls Gen reaction please! Legends of Kpop!*
Very happy to see you react to SNSD! I haven't even watched the reaction yet but I already wanna compliment for the way you picked the songs and explained it in the intro. Most people probably will skip that from experience but I still wanted to say I really appreciate how much thought you put into the song selection (which I personally also really like)!
I appreciate it and yeah, from some comments it is indeed the case with the intro being ignored/skipped, that's alright though, we're kind of used to it by this point as reactors lol!
Gee, a hit in Korean culture, is the most famous and successful song of the 2000s in Korea and Asia, probably one of the most historic songs of the entire kpop genre.
GG got me into kpop they were my first group I ever stanned and Jessica had always been my bias and even though she left the group and got blacklisted for It and the amount of hate she got from it was not ok. Girls Generation are iconic and always will been iconic
THE BOYS is a good choice, it's one of their most popular songs. It's also one of the songs that makes them shine individually and highlight their voices and visuals. because during the first year they were difficult to identify some of them that look like and they all had the same cut and hair color like in a GEE mv. it's also a kind of music that SM used a lot at the time a little electro / pop
Thank you for Paparazzi!! This song is so underrated. When I was 13, it was fun, catchy song for me. And only after a while I realized the whole point. SNSD are the goddesses of concepts, during their career they have covered the entire palette of characters and genres. I especially recommend and love their ballads. The best vocal line in k-pop is just tearing: Complete; Star Star Star; Forever; Mistake; Baby Steps (TTS); Divine; Time machine; All my loves is for you; Girls
Catch Me If You Can is so amazing & I also randomly stumbled upon it recently too! 😅😹 What was I doing with my life before???? Also. I hadn’t heard Paparazzi, so thank you for helping me find that song! If you need recs for another video, I think you’d really enjoy Mr Mr & I Got A Boy (which is truly wild & eclectic as a single song & must be heard & seen to be believed). But Catch Me If You Can is forever in my head. 😻😻😻
Imma tell you missed out "into the new World" by Girls Generation! it's their debut song and still remains as a one of the best debut songs until this day!
Paparazzis is a Japanese title track. my favorite this song is super catchy like many of their songs. SNSD like KARA at the time was the 2 most popular female kpop groups in Japan.
You could basically do a deep dive into all of their Japanese releases, they've got a lot of deeper meanings in their lyrics (Flower Power comes to mind immediately). But Catch Me If You Can was rumored to have been written/recorded for their Tokyo Dome (in terms of Western concerts it's like doing a show in Wembley/Madison Square Garden/Football Stadiums) concert which made them the second-ever K-pop girl group to do so. I've always felt that was part of the message of the song, "We're at the top of our game, now follow us into the next horizon" because it felt almost like a farewell (see you later, not goodbye forever) song.
aaah i haven't even started the video yet and i'm already so excited that you're checking out 'Paparazzi'! one of my favorite japanese tracks from them and a hidden gem in SNSD's discography! little fun fact about 'The Boys': when SM released teasers for the song, all other companies postponed their groups’ comebacks that were supposed to release around the same time for fear of competing against them lmao in a time where boy groups were dominating the industry and girl groups were unheard of and/or disregarded, 'The Boys' was the best-selling album in kpop, defeating male groups and taking the best awards of the year as Artist of the Year at MAMA, Song of the year, Album of the Year and Best Girl Group at SBS MTV best of the best, and the song is still one of their most famous and most covered songs, with its popularity spreading worldwide. SNSD is insane like that. if you do a further deep dive i'd highly recommend 'Into the New World' (their debut, which 'Forever 1' pays homage to), 'Genie' and 'I Got a Boy', some of their other more iconic songs (though all their discography is iconic at this point lol) (also, you mentioned in your analysis of 'The Boys' something about a "chanty chorus" and that is an SNSD staple! the chorus is sung by all the members all together in most if not all of their songs. along with the visual of long legs and leg-choreography, that is the mark of SNSD and you'll see it in a lot of their music and music videos!)
now that you have listened to Gee at least once I think you can understand how popular this song is in Korea even now a lot of trainees are training on this song. the chorus is incredibly addictive and almost every korean even the oldest has heard this song at least once in their lives. into the new world was one of SNSD's first popular songs but Gee elevated them to national star status. Gee is for SNSD what TT is for Twice or D4 for Blackpink the song of their consecration.
I strongly recommend these songs of them“I got a boy”“ Mr Mr ”“Lion heart”“ you think” and TTS team(Taeyeon Tiffany Seohyun)songs “Twinkle”“ Dear Santa” “Holler” I promise you won't regret hearing these songs😉
Definitely should check out more of Hyoyeons solo work if you liked catch me if you can cause her solo work often is very similar 😂 Sober Punk right now Dessert Think about me Etc etc lol
when you said there must be some fans/paparazzi breaking in some idols room reminds me of a fan kidnapping Taeyeon on a stage during a SNSD performance so yeah everything is possible
The truth is one of the most legendary groups in the history of kpop, an iconic group that has influenced almost all girl groups, considered the nation's group for years.
Without SNSD girl groups would be NOTHING. And i don't mean that in a mean way, like literally. Cause before them. People did NOT care about girl groups. Most girl groups would be lucky to make it past 3 years before ultimately disbanding. The queens and the goddesses they are
Ty for this selection of Girls Generation. Love for you to react to I’ve Got A Boy, won first ever RU-vid award for best MV! Yep! This group is iconic; from 2007 on.. they broke all kinds of barriers and records. Also, You Think, mature GG.
There is an incredible magic in the old groups, from the aesthetics of excess and concepts that now would be very bizarre. Please, if you have time react to TVXQ! Their songs in Korean and Japanese are amazing and complement each other, plus the narrative of the MVs has a very special mystique.
You cant have a bad choice in SNSD discography, so react to what you like to, since everything they have are different and iconic. Gee was choosen as song of decade not for nothing, forever viral👌 About The Boys while I undersand disire to see lyrics but it seems you missed intro of original MV which is TVXQ beat "Keep Your Head Down" with girls having queens concept its not much but it is an experience too for sure. About song itself by The Boys era SNSD was going on top of industry, top group of 2nd gen, which in generation where girl groups were looked down on and strugle to survive and be as succesfull it was amazing. So when girls say "bring the boys out" they literally mean to challenge boy groups, also when SM annouced that comeback other companies had to delay their groups activities that big a SNSD comeback was. So for their experince as you mention that bright concept doesnt go to dark unless something happens, but that transition actually started to happen earlier in Oh!/Run Devil Run era because they wanted to show different styles and versitality they had, not beeing just a cute girl group, also probably since some members hated cute concept😂. But you also right to some point SNSD actually wasnt very welcomed by public early in their careers to the point they experienced Black Ocean because other kpop groups stans didnt want them. About pixie girl in red its Sunny and that look was iconic! Same thing happend with Paparazzi you missed their musical style intro/outro which plays to song story in them putting on performance for a public. You seem to grasp story well. Also I rembered instance when Sunny posted on social media to some paparazzi to stop following her car cause she wasnt feel safe to drive like that, so stalking was such a thing back then to them for sell idols lives. Dont know if you ever seen Shinee in MMTG episode but Minho and Key fighting over Paparazzi is such comedy😂 CMIYC was an jp release, so they did only korean version to it. Taeyeon actualy said she tasted blood performing it, so dont think they will performed that ever again. If you like it you should check "You Think" MV next tho they will probably kill you😂 Also listen to Forever 1 album its just best album of 2022
Catch Me If You Can is an amazing song/mv. Still sad that is post-Jessica. The back line of Yoona/Yuri/Sooyoung/Hyoyeon is featured in this song like no other.
Yes, there's a OT9 version with Jessica and sounds incredible, They Boys have a 3D version for LG promo with an intro with roses and the black diamond. SONE Forever!!
As a native English speaker who also speaks Japanese, that Paparazzi translation is a bit of a mess both with the English syntax and Japanese comprehension, and even the lyric base they're translating from has a bunch of plain errors... Examples: -「値段も付けられやしない愛」 is not "love that grew up with a price tag" but "love that you can't fix a price to" -「闇を裂いたflashがsight of money」 --> 「闇を裂いたflashが裂いてmoney」 which means "the flash which cut through the darkness cuts through (to result in) money" - 「また沢山のsatellite」--> 「瞬くstarのsatellite」 which means "a satellite around a twinkling star" Despite these issues, people can at least get close to imagining what the song is going for which is good, but it can be really misleading sometimes... That's one of the issues with these fan translations, though: they're often unpaid volunteers, some of them still learning one or both of the languages they're working with (especially with Japanese translations, which I feel are *mostly* students). Still thankful for the effort they put in, but we need to respectfully take them with a grain of salt.
This is the only GG that got to beat kpop boy groups buck then. Many members in a girl group is not a thing before girls generation debuted and prove them wrong. They were expected to flop due to having a lot of members but guess what, JYP created twice to replicate snsd for future generation. 😆
Damn, these lyrics are horribly translated! I wish you reacted to the official videos on SM's channel with intros and outros and just checked the lyrics on your phone or something like in previous reactions.
