As an American I remember being one of the last generations that practiced A bomb drills which was hide under your desk because we know that would have saved us... But our school had a fallout shelter for the town
I remember those in first grade also.. I'm fairly certain none of us understood the point of them but I do remember hiding under little wooden desks being completely terrorized. Then we'd all crawl back out from under them like nothing happened and pledge allegiance to the flag and sing America the Beautiful. Good times.
Now they have us (California) do the same for earthquakes. Like the building falling down... The desk will save us. At least in case of fire we run out. 😒

I was about 10 years old when I saw the TV movie “Testament” about a fictional nuclear war and what it would be like from the perspective of suburban Americans, and it scared the shit out of me. It was a big national story because the show was so controversial. I had a weeks worth of nightmares but then you just sort of get over it, there’s nothing you could do. Like an earthquake or tornado if it happens, it happens.
Interesting how people from different places have similar phrases. 6:40 "Touch wood..." The way I've heard it in the US is "Knock on wood". Love your reactions! Keep 'em coming!

This channel works for all ages. I find it interesting in my 40s. I got my adult daughter and son watching and well as my 3 teenage boys. Now my 68 yr old father is watching lol.
What Bonilla in 1883 and I suspect many equally savage viewers fail to realize, is that the photo captures His Holiness, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, multitasking his many noodly appendages to divert the rocks away from Earth. I doubt he minds the lack of recognition because He is really chill, but I do wish more people would give credit where credit is due.

An old movie from 1964 about a technical malfunction potentially leading to nuclear world war between the US and USSR. I remember all the bomb drills at school in the 1960s and also being glued to the tv during the Cuban Missile Crisis and wondering if we would survive. If you ever want to watch a great movie about nuclear war, watch The Day After. Done in 1983 it's one of the best made for TV movies about what could happen when nuclear war occurs.
A couple of months ago, a meteor crashed into the sea right outside of Sweden. We don't know how big it was, but thank god that it didn't crash on land.

I think it would be cool to hear what you already know and you can explain to us in more detail and to see your reaction on things you didn't know about.
I still think about the nuclear attack drills we’d do in gradeschool. Just think about the ramifications of having children practice hiding under their desk or in the hallway w their arms over their heads to try and protect themselves from a nuclear explosion. It’s the same kind of fear we now know from active shooter drills.

Let me put it this way, concerning my personal fear of nuclear war and the Soviets during the 70's and 80's (when I was a child/ teen): Not only did I have a plan to take my family to ground zero to avoid nuclear winter, but I literally didn't recall that the Soviets/ Russians were our allies in WW2 until I was watching Captain America in 2011 - 2012. To me, they had always been our enemy and people to be feared. When Billy Joel did his Russian tour back in 1985? we were stunned to see the footage and how they were just like us. They had been monsters in the closet, so to speak. All the films growing up denoted them as bad guys. Some people may not have thought about it, but when your school (mine in this case) did regular bombing drills, not just fire drills, it's a big sign more people than me were afraid. This may have just been the location I grew up in, Pennsylvania and New York, because when I moved to Vermont in 1985, it seemed to be different. The year before, when I'd started in a new school in NY, they showed us to the bomb shelter the first day, but in Vermont, it wasn't until the class change bell malfunctioned that any indication of "war" was apparent. It sounded like the bomb raid sirens from NY, so I ducked under my desk and covered my head The teacher did the same (force of habit from the 1950's for her). The other students were confused by our behavior. So, for some of us, it was terrifying to live through the cold war. I went into the US Navy and in 1991 was stationed in Japan. I came home on Christmas and turned on the news, which I rarely did. I stood in shock as I witnessed the USA and the Soviet union sign the end of the cold war. I started shaking and crying in relief and actually wrote to the President to thank him! (I even have the response I was sent for that letter.) Again, i suppose it depends on where you were raised or such, but for me, Nuclear War had been a horrible threat every day of my youth.
Congrats on the milestone. Considering many of your subs are new, I would laugh my ass off watching you react to one of your early videos. I think 'Here comes the boom' was early in your channel. Find your most 'liked' video in your first couple months and react to your own video. That would he epic for the old timers of your channel haha

I think it's important to point out. He didn't say that it's a 12% chance for a CME to happen again. He said that there's a 12% chance that a CME would hit Earth! But there's context. That study was published in 2012, so the prediction was made for 2012-2022. Basically, we just need to survive 2 more years.
