My Grandfather was in the Second World War. I learned a lot from the stories he told me when I was young. He got a few medals and was even in the newspaper once. Sadly, he passed away back in 2010. He was an amazing man, and I miss him.
Also Had A Grandfather In WW2 Lied About His Age Before It He Was 16 Then 5 Years Later Had My Mom He Had A Purple Heart He Said His Rank Was Technical Sargent
Me too, a lot of his stories remind me of the stories my the youth group mentors (USAF) I hung out with in high school. In fact, Narrator’s stories and my former mentors’s stories are more or less the same. I’m glad I listened to their stories because it helps me keep up with Narrator’s videos
2:04 those were actually mexican soldiers. there's a lot of videos like that. they use pickup trucks with little to no protections because they do operations while going really fast, 70+mph, and because they need small vehicles because they need to go through traffic jams

I was on a field craft corse with mcr wing and I brought a pack of crayola crayons and placed it in a marine cadets tent I never found those crayons again but there was a colourful shit in the toilet PS Air Cadets Are The Best

When I was new at a naval squadron, I was told to buddy up and do an echo-test into the Intake of an aircraft engine to test for structural integrity. Basically I was instructed to yell as loud as I could into the engine and my buddy had to listen for leaks. When I was new at aviation school, I was told by my rackmates (roommates) to check my bed for watertight integrity. Take a bucket of water and see if the mattress holds all the water. (incase ships take on water and the bed can act as a sponge? made sense at the time)
These always put a smile on my face. I grew up around and work with a bunch of former military guys so all of these are just the best and really reaffirm the stories I have heard. Keep 'em coming Narrator! Also, you're my favorite too and nobody can take that away from you!

I'm from Portugal and people do this things A LOT, it's very normal to go out and watch someone "turning into a caterpillar".
Narrators reaction @8:30 is PURE GOLD and 100% factual it brought me to tears.😂😂 i don’t exactly know about the army’s way of doing things but everything he’s describing the Air Force totally does as well.🤣 If you know someone in the Air Force, ask them about “casual duty” or “AFI” in relation to tech schools. Then ask them what the most BS thing they had to do was. You will NOT be disappointed.!

As a veteran myself, I have been in trouble and I has to sweep the sand in Davis Monthan AFB as well as mop the rain at Port Hueneme in Cali. Not fun...would do again. Thank you @Narrator for your service.
What is really cool is that the US Navy is working on starting up the Australian Nuclear Navy. The Aussies have been to the nuke school a couple of times to see how we are being taught
1:50 that sound is called tinnitus. Ringing in ears from loudness and even stress (Anxiety included), goes away on it's own, or go to a medic if lasts too much (Normal to have it for a few days after a loud concert).

My dad said the navy also has weird punishments. His story is of a punishment he gave to someone who wouldn't shut up. Many years ago my dad was put in charge of a group for exercises in the morning. He said that one guy wouldn't shut up and my dad warned him a few times. Soon enough my dad got fed up with the guy and pointed to a long stone wall next to the barracks and told the guy to knock on every stone and say "Hello Mr. Gofer are you there?" And to not stop till he either got a response or was told to stop. A day and a half later the Sargent came to check up on the group and saw the guy knocking on the wall. He asked my dad who explained everything and the Sargent thought it was funny. The story makes me crack up and fits the weird punishments in the arm forces
Exhaust sample, chemlight batteries, Boom test, Armor test, Wind sensor test, alpha November alpha lima grease. The list goes on and on and on. But I am loving the videos.
That's why it is important to learn to seem busy. Find what everybody in your unit is good at, and have them do the stuff, so it gets done quickly and well. Then, use that time to look busy, while relaxing (for example: sleeping under the bed, with your fingers in the springs, so it looks like you are finishing up making the bed, when someone walks in, but just be sure, somebody is close to kick you awake). I believe E4s are really good at these things.
You need to do a military training video with the boys. Like get everyone together, go see a professional (Not a therapist...that comes after), and do the training that you had to go through! I think that'd be phenomenal!
I watched your other videos and you said you were a Cav Scout and was stationed in Germany. I’m in the infantry and stationed at Ft Polk, next duty station is Germany and I gotta say, anywhere is better than Polk. If anyone says otherwise then they’ve never been there or never got stationed there. But glad to see another Mafia member out there thriving man!
Talking about the Sargent major giving random tasks when there’s nothing to do, one thing that was told to me and I quote “Go sweep the sunshine off the sidewalk”
I had a Captain in as my Platoon Leader in Basic, he was waiting for his assignment, and his favorite saying was "If it makes sense, then it is not the Army"

I'm a current marine and the crayon part is my favorite. My favorite color to eat is red cuz it would taste like my enemies blood. And green is great too
the sound in the ears is called tinnitus, i am 18 years old and have it at a stupid volume. i cannot go to party, drive for long (engine sound) and everything that makes suddens sound/echo. it is incurrable, for there is to many cause of this. but hey... i get (very little) medic support... not at all actually.

Tinnitus. My grandfather was in WWII, (Normandy Beach, Tank Battalion, 2 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star) and would core grenades to joke with/prepare his men. He’d also toss the cored ones to get adversaries away from them in battle. I got to hold one he’d kept when I was a kid, and boy. Did we scare grandma, lololol
The best way to avoid the "extra duty" work after you finish your task for the day was always to go and have squad meetings in the room of someone at the barracks and "learn new tactics" ah good times
