when i 1st watch this performance, im like speachless and im like awake from something after the song is done. i heard a few opera voices before and ofc it was good but this guy, not just his voice that capture me, its the emotion, the feelings and something that just.....i cant quite explain it. and since then im a martian 😊

Hello, I only recently discovered Hua Chenyu. I see that others have provided word for word translations. The original lyrics uses a lot of metaphors, and uses some terms that are more often seen in the rural parts of China. Much of the meanings has been lost after two layers of translations (rural phrases to standard Chinese, then Chinese to English). But I am so moved by his rendition of this song, so here are my thoughts.This song is through the eyes of an working adult, and about a short trip with his/her child from the city to visit the grandparents in the country side. There are three parts. 1. Going home. He/she travels with a restless child, so innocent, so carefree. In the train, fellow passengers stir now and then, and reveal traces of of their uneasiness just like him/her. Just outside of his/her parents home, he/she ties up the shoe laces and puts up a confident smile. Cracking the door open, time seems to stop. Oh, where has all the time gone. His parents hurries to the door, "Are you home?", "You are home!", "You must be tired.", "How was your trip?". (Hua's first high note). 2. At home. Time is still. He/she holds the restless child, and looks at the tree in the yard. He/she ponders about life. What does he/she desire? What are the costs? Should he/she continue to pursue? 3. Leaving home. It's time to go. He/she ties up the shoe laces and braves him/herself to face the world. Cracking the door open, time starts to rush again. (Hua's second high note). The parents coming to the door to see them off, "Are you leaving?", "You are leaving.", "Come home again." (Hua's final high note). This is not a word for word translation. Some of lyrics are left out to keep it short, and some are added to connect the narratives. In the original lyrics, I really love the details about tying the shoe laces and the opening the door. Such a beautiful piece of poetry.
I go into different music phases often. Was heavily listening to kpop/bts then got a bit bored. Found Huahua accidentally almost dismissed him cuz of his look. So glad I gave him a chance! Just bought his album! Go Martians!
tenchichrono My sister be like, she likes BTS the most and me as a fan of HuaHua showed her the power of HuaHua and his talent. And she said she actually the first person she’d like who isn’t really handsome. He is sometimes kind of handsome and most of the time cute but his hair sometimes goes through the weirdest shit. Haha but I totally love him and his personality and mostly his music of course. Although I could not convince her to replace BTS because she is a diehard fan she does appreciate HuaHua which is a new thing since she almost dismisses everyone else (especially if you don’t look good lol)
