Well I wonder just how many times I've heard this performance, no doubt over a hundred by now, and as I type, I realise it has to be more than ANY other performance I've EVER watched. Now isn't that a thing?!

Look at her in front of that band. Little barefoot babygirl. She is a total badass in this,... at 9 yrs old.

"It's one thing to copy someone, but to have that soul....". You just can't copy soul. The things she does here can't be learned or taught. It's just in her. I have seen this more times that I would want to count, and it still blows me away every single time. And what impresses me the most is not the big obvious things she does, it's the little details... like that punchy way she says "spell", or the way she swirls that note around with her finger near the end. It's all master level artistry ...from a 9 year old.

You really get why she is so good. Many just say Wow but you articulate it with your knowledge. Her timing, breath control and emotion along with respect to the original artist is what makes her stand out. Yes she is bound to redefine this music.

SHE KNOWS and SHE GETS IT.... Angelina's grandmother is an Iranian artist. I'm pretty sure she explained to Angelina the feelings on each song she performed when she was very little. Angelina is always paying homage to the lyrics and to the artists she covers.

Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956. She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. Things I found particularly worthy of note in this video are (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. But STILL ten...LOL That's when she demoed the song "I'm Still Holding Out For You". The performance itself is shrouded in a bit of mystery, because it was never released. Some people think it's due to the lyrics being somewhat age inappropriate for a 10 year old girl, but the real reason is unclear. Anyhow, one person from the recording studio kept a copy and dropped it 2 years later, hence the word "leaked" in the description. Luckily, not a single attempt to remove it was made, so it seems all parties are happy with it being out there. If you want to be swept totally off the chair, then to this reaction next. Normally I would tell people who don't know of her to listen to this track without watching and tell us about her, and no one would be able to guess she was a 9-year-old Norwegian girl. But just to listen is to miss so much of the visual information she puts in the video, like the candle of Screaming Jay or the note she writes or her granny Mery in the other room in the beginning or her bare feet. Some reactors - vocal coaches - who have never heard Screaming Jay do not understand her growls and gesticulations, which is unfortunate as this is her tribute to Screaming Jay.

Not only did she wright this song at 14 yrs old, but it was in memory of her Grandfather who had just passed away. Her song writing will just melt your heart. Also her latest release is called 7th Heaven, which she also wrote, it's a mid-Tempo jazzy song which talks about life's fears and let downs keeping us from moving forward but our strength will get us through as long as we have HOPE. This shows us she's sticking to writing about her life experiences and feelings, plus sticking to her roots, developing her own distinct style. One important thing to remember about AJ is that she owns the rights to everything she sings. She refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot, sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old! We all hope to enjoy her performances for many years to come. BTW I'm 80 and have been involved privately in music since age 7.
