jarrett allen isnt the second option. thats not what people mean when they say he was the second best player last year. he had no plays called for him. he took less shots than garland and mobley. but those guys didnt do their job night in and night out the way allen did. that was the case last year, and it helped the cavs win. but its not going to be the norm going forward, thats why they got max deals. allen has maturity and experience they dont yet, but dg + mobley have elite profiles that match all nba players in the past. when, not if, they reach that potential, allen getting this contract will make a lot of sense

Everyone who pretends Allen didn't break his ribs is ignoring reality. He was borderline superstar to start the Orlando series.

I hope they make a move for cam Johnson or a player at a similar archetype as him. Caris LeVert is essentially the backup point guard, I am concerned we need a backup center, but tbh if we get a bench/starting 3 and D wing, we can have some changes that allow for various lineups where mobley and Allen can each get minutes at center with the bench guys, and Tristan Thompson gets the scraps, but this requires money to get a bit bigger.

I don’t agree with Jackson saying we need a backup point or C. Mitchell has shown us he can play PG for some mins, you need someone that can handle the ball like CPJ or Ty for backup PG even Tyson can handle the ball is u wanted to go there. For backup C, you need to throw mobley into the fire anyway so the necessity for a backup C isn’t really there. I would prefer a Center that was good athleticism and rebounding tho. We need versatility with the 3-4 spots so that’s why I’m in on getting DFS, Cam, Hunter, and maybe Andrew Wiggins.

For me, Atkinson is going to either prove the issue was coaching or the lineups don’t work. Hopefully it was coaching

It was neither. Winning doesn't happen all at once. It takes time. Incremental improvement is how this works. We will be a bit better next year, and better again the year after.

The core 4 hasn't reached their celling offensively. Defensively, they can be better. This team is more a drop coverage team, than an overswitching, overhelping, man defensive team. It's not that the FO doesn't believe in them. It's Koby wanting to be flexible enough to add to their backend of the roster and avoiding the tax penalties of the aprons. After the Okoro RFA saga is over, Koby will add a young stretch 5 on a vet. min. like a Chimeze Metu, Davis Bertans, Kenneth Lofton, JT Thor, or Zae Mobley, who can compete for PT in Kenny's 10-man rotation. Then Koby will leave a roster spot open to add a potential buyout player after the trade deadline.

Cavs can't move forward until they get rid of Evan Mobley. There's a reason he isn't given the ball. Very turnover prone. His defense is only really good "at times". Definitely not during the playoffs. Stop waiting for him to improve and accept what he is. And stop blaming the rest of the team for his "stunted growth". Wake up!
