Regarding the fertiliser bomb joke, he’s saying the garden of remembrance is looking really well, as the ground was filled with fertiliser…ammonium nitrate, used in fertiliser, is also quite explosive. I am not even from America and I also don't know about some fertilizer bomb in Oklahoma, but the joke is not about whether you know about what really happened, it's about a fertilizer bomb going off and after that there is a garden of remembrance (because you need fertilizer in the garden which helps it grow).
In 1995, Timothy McVeigh, a right wing militia nut from Michigan, blew up the Alfred P. Murray building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with a moving truck holding a fertilizer bomb he made with his buddy. McVeigh was sentenced to death and later executed for it. The bomb killed like 238 people, and on the bottom floor, there was a daycare center so several of those victims were small children. The bomb caused absolutely massive damage to the building in addition to the lives that were lost.
