I think the inspiration came from KSI's old setup. The camera position, the mic, etc. The old setup is the definition of Wonky. Kon took what KSI knows and feels familiar in and elevated that to a more comfortable and functional setup. This setup allowed him to flow freely, all in one day. I think the setup mirrors where KSI came from, removing the hassle for him to create with the time he has with everything he has going on right now.

@@nicolascastillo7065 You can do that, and still make this nicer. Their are cable routing holes in the desk, that he ignored. The monitors are tiny for no reason, when you would want something bigger In the middle when using a console. He didn't play into the star theme at all... that's just a waste, with very limited RGB you could have made a the setup look sick, easily playing into the theme it had going.

I respect Edgar for having his standards and whatnot but he skipped most of the explanations. The actual setup was built in a day, it took months because someone else was working on the room and just issues in general occurred. KSI himself isn’t too tech savvy so making it simple for him makes a lot of sense and it’s okay if it doesn’t fit Ed’s standards. Overall enjoyed the reaction!

just to let you know. KON said in the video that they are waiting on KSI's new PC will be custom with a 4090 and water cooling in it. So im guessing a few other things will get changed once the new PC is in.

Yeah but if you saw when Kon did Behzinga’s setup he did the same thing, he had two monitors on an arm and didnt even connect them properly it looked unpleasant to the eye and its small attention to detail for some reason Kon struggles with but everything else like cable managment he smashes it

I think a majority in this day just want a nice decent setup that works for a daily use. I used to go above and beyond for my setups but with always moving and trying to keep up with installing everything redoing cable management while still trying to live your daily life just gets tedious to maintain. I just try to keep it simple now.

the setup layout was based on his old setup, that's why it was layed out pretty basic. They didn't want to make it hard for JJ to adjust.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the setup. The execution and efficiency is there and that's what makes a setup great. Some people do simplicity in their setup. Personally, I think the tiles are some kind of canvas/texture vinyl which is a really nice touch. As far as the holes go, no. I disagree. And that's cause as a woodworker, even if the top is faux wood, wood is sometimes too beautiful to drill through and some people don't want to mar their desk to do it. Myself included. The ceiling and the automatic blinds moving. Those are nice touches. I can never afford those at this time. But I dig it.

This is an amazingly executed basic setup. The whole room and the setup of the setup is amazing, the setup itself is super underwhelming though. 3 monitors that look the be different brand and sizes, so much space between them, not even a headset stand. Like they put as much effort as possible to hide cables and make monitors float but keep it that basic? I wouldve gotten someone to custom make and 3d print a headphone stand that has something like his logo imbedded or something.

Kon doesn't mention it in the KSI video but he did a set up for someone called Gib and in the description, it says the desk is from Felxispot and model is called E7 standing desk premium. I'm sure KSI's is the same and it says it has a load capacity of 125kg which is plenty strong enough for 3 monitors

I knew what Ed's reaction would be like before even watching the video lol, I love how high his standards are, but u gotta know the backstory of KSI's setup. His old setup was horrible, he used to have 2 10yr old 60hz monitors and he put his camera on a speaker lol, even his PC wasnt that highend. So he isnt that big of a tech guy, but I think he just wanted a cool looking set up and didnt even know about all the tech stuff. like the streamdeck for example. I do agree with Ed tho, I was expecting "AboFlah" level set up, but I guess KSI wanted a chill setup with a black and red theme. Even with his keyboard, he chose just plain black keycaps. I think the room took really long but the setup was done in a few days. I hope Ed sees this comment for some more context. Love ur vids btw :)

Very functional and simple. BUT I agree that it felt a bit underwhelming. For KSI its prob gold though, I'm assuming he didn't have a good setup judging by his reactions. For me (and maybe others) who watches a lot of desk setups and Ed's desk setup series, I'd say its not finished and needed more... idk, maybe a better wall background? Just something that gives a "wow" factor. Idk. Also I think the desk camera wasn't straight so that kinda bothered me, but that's just me haha. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of little things that's awesome and I still think its a great setup. And If KSI is thrilled about it then honestly it's winning for him! Happy for the dude!👌

It is great setup. It is easy to overdo project like this. Thing is he wanted 100% usable place. If you are familiar with gear, it's easy for you to find ports and typical things that you are used to us. He is new to this, it was very smart to keep this simple. For him, it is like a well designed car dashboard. You sit in, and you now exactly where are all switches.
