Aren't they fabulous? They did EVERY type of music!! The small guitar is a mandolin JPJ could play any string instrument and any key instrument as well!
John Paul Jones is so underrated and unappreciated but he does so much he just doesn’t get the credit he deserves. All four are just masters of their craft
Goodness. Not underrated in the least. I mean, he's the Alex Lifeson of Zeppelin though. Brilliant, but overshadowed by the gods surrounding him. But everyone knows that brilliance.
I agree. JPJ is such an anchor to Led Zeppelin, so steady and present in giving a backseat structure and skeleton to the music, you can forget he is arguably the most compete musician in Zep. I can't count the times where I have heard somebody give the mandolin credit in this song to Page. My favorite band EVER!
this was apparently written some 50 years ago with you in mind To find a queen without a king They say she plays guitar and cries and sings, la-la-la Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born
You def need to listen to at least one ' Van Halen ' song. You reacted to Eddies guitar solo which was great but now...how about an actual song??? Maybe Ain't talkin bout love or Jamies crying off their 1st album...Enjoying ur Zep reactions
Are you aware we can't hear what you are saying when you talk while the song is playing? Either gather your thoughts and express tham after a paise or get a better mic. Still enjoyed your thoughts after the song, and if I am not mistaken, I think the instrument is a mandolin.
I think in her discovery of Led Zeppelin she should stick with the 70s. Do the 79 version. After she has a good grounding in the group she can then have a reference and knowledge to fall back on when she watches them in their 60s and see that these guys had not lost a step
.... not forgetting Pink Floyd who were recording their debut album, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, at Abbey Road at the same time as the Beatles were recording Sergeant Peppers in the next-door studio.
"Like a dream." Very good description: it IS dreamlike, the gorgeously dripping notes, Robert's "soft voice" gently telling of unrequited love. Jimmy and Robert were in love with the epic folk singer from California, Joni Mitchell, because of her talent and her beauty. This song was for her. She greatly admired Zeppelin, but never dated any of them, lol. It's not surprising to us fans that LZ "surprised" you here, because they DO do so many different kinds of music, and always with excellence. Glad you liked their softer side as well!
Imagine when she hears D'Yer Mak'er (reggae), The Crunge (funk), Hot Dog (rockabilly), Carouselambra (ummm...?), Black Mountain Side (Celtic folk), Tea For One (jazzy blues), Gallows Pole (Gaelic traditional), and Achilles' Last Stand (prog metal). That much diversity will make her head explode.
@@vlj1133 LOL, for real! Just throw a damn dart at a list of their songs on the wall and you're very likely to hit a bullseye no matter where it lands!
This is why Zeppelin is the icon of bands. The Goats. You have a group that delves into many genres. They do hard rock, middle eastern sound, acoustic and folk, instrumental, English Middle Ages, even fun ditties like Boogie with Stu. They are extremely diverse. And the subjects range all over the place. Then you have the instrument virtuoso in John Paul Jones who plays mandolin and other guitars, bass and keyboards. You have the guitar Goat in Jimmy Page. And the vocal range and beautiful voice of Robert Plant. And while not featured in this song, you have a drummer who has been more influential since Gene Kruppa and Buddy Rich of the Big Band Era in John Bonham. This band is so deep and intricate. Many bands have tried to copy them but, are so superficial and unable to achieve a 10th of what Zeppelin does. They piddle around in mindless songs about girls and being on the road. They have nothing to say or really contribute. Led Zeppelin is the monster of all rock bands and for a reason. They have substance, they are musically gifted and are heads above any other band that came after them.
From 1971 , which is when this was released , the "California Sound" which was epitomized by bands like Crosby Stills & Nash ( & Young when he'd drop by ) , The Eagles from their early days , Jackson Browne & Linda Ronstadt as well as Fleetwood Mac's first album with the Buckingham & Nicks combo being that bands new additions . "Going to California" fits very much in with the sounds of those artists from that era . Love watching you fall in love with Zeppelin . It does someone who grew up with this music see it pass along to appreciative ears 🙂
If your going to do Zepplin YOU have to get a good pair of head phones,, the little plcks and drum hits,, plus the shifts from right to left speakers,,, teir music is like a JOURNEY they take you along for the concert,, each person experiences their own "Trip" quotes from Robert Plant.. singer Jimmy Page guitar John Bonham drums
This song should point you in the direction of Joni Mitchell (about whom this song was written). Please dive into her incredible colletion of original music. She is an amazing singer/songwriter/poet.
Meh. Listening to random songs out of context is really not the way. If you want to really get to know them, start in chronological order and do song by song in release order (track order). You'll end up with a wonderful play list and learn something great. Or just carry on randomly listening. Up to you
I love your Zeppelin reactions and look forward to seeing more. You really just scratching the surface, they are so diversified and they do so many styles and they are all good! It would be nice to see some more from Madison Square Gardens, The Song Remains The Same and The Rain Song together perhaps?
To say that they were at the top of their game in 1977 was an understatement. And to think this was the same year the commies introduced PUNK ROCK which ended the dream!............................................................................
Hey! I was live at Earls Court in May 1975. Wonder if it was this show ... The original three shows sold out very quickly and they had to arrange two more, making a total of five sold out nights at Earls Court.
Another great Zeppelin song which is quite different from their hard rocking material is "Thank You". I think it's one of their best songs, and I'm sure you would enjoy it very much. Stick to the original studio album version though, to get all the subtleties of the song that are hard to reproduce live.
Forger everything else Steph. I just love your Zep reactions. You love them we all love them ( and you). Forget the rest stick to the best. Make this the first pure Zep channel. There’s loads to get through
Excellent reaction, thank you, you can react to more Guns n Roses songs: sweet child o mine, Patience, paradise city, don't cry, you could be mine, knocking on heavens door tribute to Freddy Mercury nightrain live Tokio 🔥🔥🔥🔥Good vibes 💚💛❤️

Ive been hopelessly addicted to reactions of all kinds for about three years now, & reactions, to me, are 99% about the facial expressions, which show the emotion that the art, a song, or a film, or even a comedian, conjures up in people, becuase the face says it better than words ever could....anyway, this was a beuatiful reaction, just gorgeous...i was only born in 1976 too, so i still had a year to go before i was even on earth when this performance bappened, but i first heard zeppelin, & got into zeppelin as a 12 year old in 1988, & it was the album that this song was on....& just to see a young person react so soulfully, in these increasingly souless times 35 years later?...its a beautiful thing...thank you. Liked & subbed (if there was a "love reaction" to do on youtube, i would have done it, but, i could only "like" the upload, ha).
Nice reaction Steph as always. You've mentioned many times that you love a good guitar solo. Check out Dazed and Confused from MSG LIVE 1973. Jimmy Page's performance during this song is something else and has to be seen to be believed. 29 minutes of relentless brilliance, proving he is the greatest rock guitarist of all time. I swear all 4 band members leave their bodies during this masterpiece. Great job, keep up the good work
I saw Zeppelin live in 1977. Any live concert you watch of them you'll be amazed. In my opinion this was the greatest classic rock band. Of course Pink Floyd was right next to them.
I think you are so lucky to have been able to see them live. I was not so lucky. I agree that Zeppelin was the greatest. Pink Floyd was one of the top bands as well. Nothing can compare to Dark Side of the Moon or the record 900+ weeks in Billboards top albums. !7years.
