Agreed. Kid A is also best experienced as a whole. The transitions between the songs are superb and the album, as a whole, is masterful. Out of all their albums it's the one that benefits most by being listened straight through. I'm hoping he decides to do that but, at the same time, I understand that full album reactions are a big ask.
Thanks, Erol. Yeah, the Kid A version is great, but this one has a real creepy vibe to it, more intimate and low fi. I love them both for what they deliver in different ways. Man, you're spot on getting the chords and melody, so fast too. I bet when you play live, there's no song requested, that you can't play. That'd be a cool patreon video, a live stream where you play requests with your band.
Radiohead are simply brilliant. The sheer talent of all the members is incredible. They're also one of the most (possibly _thee_ most) musically diverse bands I've ever come across. Constantly changing their style and experimenting with new ideas. They use elements of alternative rock, prog rock, jazz, electronic, ambient, orchestral and several others so you never know what kind of experience you'll get when they drop new music.
Good catch too on seeing the art as a book cover! Stanley Donwood is Thom’s college friend and has worked on the album art for most of their albums. From Wikipedia: The cover depicts a book cover with a weeping minotaur. The minotaur, a motif of the Amnesiac artwork, represents the "maze" Yorke felt he had become lost in during his depression after OK Computer; Donwood described it as a "tragic figure".
Hi I love your Radiohead reactions! This version of Morning Bell is a kind of 'reprise' of the first version on Kid A. The Kid A version is in 5/4 time and is the one people would probably go to if you asked them to play you this song. I'm sure a thousand people are about to tell you exactly the same thing!
I like both versions and depends on my mood which one I prefer. Here’s a quote from Thom on why they included it on Amnesiac: “Because it came from such a different place from the other version. Because we only found it again by accident after having forgotten about it. Because it sounds like a recurring dream. It felt right."

This is the variant version. Interesting choice. Edit: by which i mean, when they do the song live, they do the "regular" version of the song that was on the previous album, leaving this one as more of a curiosity. But you nailed what makes it interesting. The sense that all the clocks are about to go off is exactly it. Thanks for pointing that out!
Ahhhh...not a bad thing to you or the requester but this is like a B-Side from the amazing original version from the prior album Kid-A. No worries, just do the other one and make a comparison! They're both great, the other one is iconic though in Radiohead's song catalogue. But I'm happy to hear and see this too!!! (I am sure plenty of fans out there think I am exactly opposite wrong - its all good).
Surprised with the Amnesiac version. I’ve never enjoyed nor had much time for this variant of the track, so it was nice to revisit it, with someone who has a musicians ear. It would be interesting to see how your opinion compares to the Kid A version. The cover is based on a book with the limited edition version of this album coming as a library book.
Oh awesome! Love this song. I'm going to suggest a couple bands that are criminally underrated in the reaction space. First of all Mew, and maybe go with either Introducing Palace Players or Twist Quest. They describe their music as Dream Pop, but like many of their fans, I'd rather put them somewhere closer to Prog Rock. And second Knower. Man, if you don't Knower, you're in for a treat. The best music produced in California in the last 50 years or so. Gonna suggest It's All Nothing Until It's Everything and I'm The President. The live versions recorded in the hallways of someone's house.
Radiohead is my favorite band because they are simultaneously highly progressive and highly accessible. It is well thought out art that can be appreciated quickly and then re-appreciated to a greater degree later. Edit: The suggestion below may allow you to impress your daughter with music she may not have heard. For a completely different favorite of mine, I suggest you check out Bonnie Prince Billie/William Oldham/Palace ______. He is Americana/Folk expressed with highly progressive narratives. I See A Darkness is a fantastic song. I suggest checking out the slower version, the original first. The second version is upbeat and has a completely different vibe. Other songs to check out by PBP/WO: Beast for Thee, Death to Everyone, Minor Place, and Wolf Among Wolves.
This band embodies everything that sucks in modern music. Just bland robotic repetitive crap. My brother's favorite band, spent a weekend listening to all his albums to try to "get it". Talk about a lost weekend.
