Really enjoyed this video. Learnt quite a bit about Spencer in this and it's made me appreciate Spencer more as a guy and the work he has put in to get where he is. Good on you Spencer, the sky's the limit.

The NUFC badge is based on our city coat of arms, the lion is holding St. George's pennant because at the time the arms were created (around 1400) the city was regarded as a bastion against the nearby Scots. The sealions represent the city's seafaring history. The reason we're called the magpies comes from the traditional black and white colour of the kit. A few of our historical club emblems featured magpies too. Canny.

Newcastle United used to different crests in the 1970s to the late 1980s. The first had a magpie in front of a castle keep with the River Tyne flowing in the foreground from 1976 to 1983. From 1983 to 1988, the club crest once again featured a magpie stood under NUFC lettering. The 83-88 crest wasn't popular with fans and for the 1988-89 season, the current one was adopted. It is a redesign of the city crest of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The seahorses represent Newcastle's strong links to the sea as it was a major ship builder before the late 1980's. The lion is perched on a tower which I think represents the Norman castle in Newcastle which gives the city it's namesake.
