If Kpop is mentally draining for y’all then y’all should get outside. It’s music😔

Art has always been a collaborative medium. Saying idols aren't artists bc they don't write their music is like saying actors aren't artists because they don't write their scripts. If they are involved in making art, they are artists.

People saying that Kpop idols are not artist bcs they don’t produce their own songs is so wrong, like if dancing and singing isn’t art. Plus, how many big artist in the west do you think produce or write their own music? And when they do it, they have a lot of help from professionals, and they are still considered artist. Kpop idols are so overworked already, imagine if they have to also work on their songs too. (I know there’s some groups that do their music but don’t make it the standard, that is really hard, even more when you have to do a comeback every 6 months)

Honestly, when I found out that most groups have comebacks 3-4 times a year I was so shocked, I used to think a comeback would only take place annually but I was wrong

My opinion on txt : big 3 privilege exists for a reason. They did not just pick a random group of boys and decide to debute them. I myself started stanning txt after their blue hour era even tho I'm an army from 2016. I liked them because their music is one of the most unique but in a pleasant way in 4th gen kpop group. So not stanning a group just because they are from the big 3 company is stupid and also tho their debut song got more recognition because of bts, its their own talent and effort that they have a fan base now and are popular.

can you pls keep me anonymous but i think some kpop stans really need to realise that their idols are GROWN HUMAN BEINGS. stop embarassing urself by babying 25 yr olds. it just makes kpop stans look so cringey. Another thing I hate is praising idols for the bare minimum. Like duality. It isn't a thing. Everybody has the ability to smile, and then not smile. And don't say that they broke the beauty standard for something they were born with. Yes, you can admire them for being confident, but I bet nearly every idol would want to be born with one or more different feature. They aren't fking gods, so don't treat them like it.

Unpopular opinion : road to kingdom was ten times better than kingdom legendary war. The performances were so much better on road to kingdom and they were so creative.

for no.7, i literally saw an army get cancelled on twitter yesterday for saying ‘i don’t think i like my universe’ that tweet blew up and they got hundreds of quotes saying ‘stop ruining the mood’ and ‘get out if you can’t appreciate our boys’ or ‘shut up with negativity’ like the tweet wasnt even bad?? they sounded nice about it too? i was like how are these people real… i checked a bunch of accounts in the quotes and they were all 20+ like what are these adults doing on kpop twitter arguing…. they all need to take step back from the screen

This is just my opinion for me every idol no need to produce their own song cuz they literally join in music industry to sing and show their talents by dancing singing and rapping.

About bts’ english singles, as an army for years, and bts being my ults: on an interview some time ago, they said they don’t intend to make more english songs and don’t care for what the company thinks about it (try to search for it, you’ll find for sure), and being completely honest, I got pretty happy with that information because, for me, even if butter is still a whole ass bop, ptd and dynamite aged really badly. When bts works with their own language, or maybe even in japanese, they produce and write their songs, and they always do AMAZING at it, they can show why they are true artists and why they are so big and deserve all they have, something that almost didn’t happen with the english singles. So, in conclusion: I love butter and don’t like ptd and dynamite as much as before, and I’m happy they don’t want to sing in english anymore because their korean and japanese songs shows more of their potencial, talent and artistry

About the comment for HYBE, i wouldn't call myself a company fan, but you have got to give credit when it's due. While I 100% agree companies don't give the slightest fuck about fans, including HYBE, HYBE cares about their artists. They want their artists to feel free to enjoy being an artist and experiment while they can. I have yet to see "rookie" groups from the big companies to write their own stuff and try to meddle in their own artistry. Hybe has fucked up in places, but they've also done great in other places so it's only fair we point out both sides.

7:22 + 8:36 if you want to know more artists who have consistently great and meaningful lyrics, day6 would be a great pick. they're 70% self written and composed (with the help of some producers) since debut and all of their songs have been written by at least one member. they cover all sorts of life topics: being lovesick, heartbroken (sad), heartbroken (mad), lost, alone (and happy), alone (and desperate), grieving, longing, healing, breaking down and re-building yourself again. these are just some of the topics, but there are many more, i advice anyone who prioritizes lyrics in kpop to look into them!

ok, let me try to elaborate what i wanna say without having the dramatic ones calling me anti. and a warning: i wrote a college essay here. btw, english is not my first language so that explains mistakes and the size of the text yay about opinion 11, i can't talk about bp because that's something we'd only know if they didn't come from a big3 company. also, i don't care if you disagree with me, feel free to do it. and i'm using this opinion because it's the best one for an example here so the person who sent it is not necessarily the one i'm talking to/about. ANYWAYS i really don't get what people mean with "bts is not there because of their music all the time, sometimes it's just fame", 'cause they are literally the definition of overcoming. everyone already knows that they came from a poor company and took years to even get their first win. they got black oceans and people calling them horrible things, threatening them and saying their work was all about plagiarism. they were robbed by awards and you can't deny it, you could literally make a kpop album with the screenshots of the voting results, their digital and sales numbers and the final result - not surprisingly, a big3 group getting the award. basically what im trying to say here is that they're the LAST people you could say this "they're on top only because they have a big fanbase" thing about 'cause they have their fanbase exactly because of their music and hate me but they're one of the few ones to do so. they're not where they are cause they were already destined to succeed with a big company there ready to protect and promote them. people listened to their music, liked it and now they have fans with them (i know the person didn't say they're privileged). and what do you expect fans to do? not support them if one comeback is not their favorite/if they don't loooove the song? that's called a casual listener and you can fight me here, but it's the truth. at some point, fans are not there just for the music, but also for the people, you can't avoid it, that's how it works. and about the awards like soty, it's not their fault if they will get it even if you think they're not the best candidates, 'cause it has always been like this (votes + judges + digital points + album sales) but, you have to admit, people just started complaining when their priviledge faves started losing awards for bangtan. besides, no hate but among the "biggest" groups today (twice, rv, bp, exo, nct, itzy, txt, got7, skz, gidle for example) bts is, indeed, the only one who didn't have that whole big company privilege. and yes, even txt and i mean it, 'cause they have a great discography but still, we wouldn't know how they would do in the industry if bighit wasn't already big when they debuted. ANOTHER REMINDER: i'm not saying these groups/solos don't work hard or deserve whatever they get, but still, you can't possibly think that ALL and i mean ALL the big3 artists would've been as successful as they are if it wasn't for their company and that's what's called the big3 privilege, which bts never had. one recent example is aespa (again, absolutely no hate). they might have good songs for some but how can you explain their hype before the debut without saying "they're a sm group"? same with others, good examples are exo and blackpink too. and it's not only there, if you want an example outside kpop, look at olivia rodrigo 🤷‍♀️ so yeah, some might be there cause of privileges and not necessarily good music or talent, but that's just not bangtan. they'd be famous anyway and their fanbase being huge is just a consequence of their talent and the fact that they're true and incredible artists, so i guess it's fair and amen siblings cause that was a bible, i bet no one read it but i hope it was clear enough if someone did

My unpopular opinion: im not a 2nd gen stan.. but i gotta say some 2nd gen mvs are good i mean the mvs of blockb , bap etc.. i just like when they are telling it doesn't have to be any theory any story can be it is so interesting to watch. #14 bothers me cause your literally blaming groups like TXT and Aespa for something they can't control. And ironically one is hated for it and the other is praised. This makes it even weirder to me. Like TXT get so much flak for accepting their privilege and yet everyone still says to this day that their fame is because of BTS and BH. Yet these boys put out 3 cbs a year (both Korean and Japanese), are constantly filming content, participating more in their own music, constantly showing their growth and are slowly but steadily making their way. Then there is Aespa with the SM privilege but they are clearly skilled and talented and work hard. How is it their own fault that stans will support them? We all know what these companies are capable of based on the groups they produce. They are big because their groups are popular and any new group they have is created to build on what is already there. TXT and Aespa's fame is clearly showing this. For Bahi, I agree with you. This is a set up and she will never catch a break because she is a Huening. It's unfortunate but she is at least trying on her own. She entered GP999 and she at least showed me that she is talented with room to grow. I think debuting will be good for her personally as she wouldn't gain any more if she remains as she is without a company.

Unpopular opinion: when some people say they miss old bts's music they are not being any ex armies. I can see some armys on twt does that. When they say that they just want that style of bts on their newer release. I liked all the songs they released till mots7. The english releases are godd but iit was not having THE BTS feels.(i just hate it when raplines weren't having raps). The only english single i liked in kpop would be twices's the feels. That is exactly how you should release an english song. It thas the twice style. They were having that in their song

For me, I've been a fan of hip hop for the longest time and love and often write my own poetry. When I first took the dive into Kpop, what made it really enjoyable for me was not knowing what the lyrics were about and just enjoying the work that went into a songs production and composition and the artistry that is vocalisation and rap. Enjoy what you enjoy and don't get caught up on what other people think, life is so much more fun and enjoyable that way.

5:57 this person wrote that bg comebacks nowadays are looking and sounding the same... no first, they mentioned TBZ but they came back with Thrill Ride which is an upbeat, summer concept and not “edm with black leather pants”?? And we literally have After Midnight by Astro, Cherry by AB6IX, Wave by CIX, or LOSER=LOVER by TXT. There are a handful of bg’s that have a versatile discography (TXT, ONEUS, Seventeen, Golden Child) but I also get where they’re coming from because let’s just use SKZ as an example. I’ve been a STAY for quite a while but I can say that most of their tt’s sound the same, probably because of this formula they have (starts with rap, vocal prechorus, only music for the chorus, you get what I mean). Most of their b-sides also sound similar but I like a few handful of their songs like Gone Days and Mixtape:Oh, that aren’t music heavy.

The fact that some people put BTS in their opinions saying that they always will get first and blah blah blah, let me remind you that they came from literally an unknown company and they gained their fame alone. Just like how you put Blackpink or other groups from the big 3 with them just hurts, they would already get a lot of fame even before debuting just because they're from the big 3, BTS gained their fame alone, without proper promotions and all. The big 3 groups are already well known already. Stop putting a group which gained their popularity with another group who had a good amount of popularity from the start. No hate on Blackpink or any other group compared with BTS. And no I am not being sensitive or anything but just stop comparing BTS to every single group.

I don't get these kpop stans that say "comebacks are getting boring" .... I mean, these are the same people who are so willing to say the music is bad or even "the worst thing they've ever heard" when the groups try to do something different from the generic stuff. Cof cof I am still hurt by the whole sticker situation cof cof. Not saying that everyone needs to like the song, just that it wasn't as bad as they were making it appear.

I always find it funny when people say a group is only successful because of their fans because what else would make them successful, their label buying their own albums? Of course it's because of the fans. And what brings in the fans? The music, in most cases (since there are still some people who some reason only stan for visuals or bandwagon, the heck are you even doing). And once you've built a massive fandom (or if you debut with the reputation of being from the Big 3, or somehow related to BTS), no matter if your new song/debut song is a hit or miss, if you got millions of people waiting to listen to the song, all those millions are gonna listen at least once, and if they like it listen to it many, many times, so of course they'll instantly have more streams than a group that only a couple thousands even know exist.

Fun Fact: we all have different musical taste

it's weird how people want all groups to self-produce when this should be the responsibility of their companies. most groups who self produced are given no choice by their companies for example, g-idle wouldnt have a cb every now and then if soyeon didnt dabble on making music, same with seventeen.

this is why i stan svt :) most peaceful fandom ever who know their line. i would suggest stanning svt if you want to get away from the toxicity of kpop. even if you dont wanna stan, just watch their gose ep to relieve stress and to just laugh. svt has the least controversies or dramas and you just cannot feel stressed if you see them (their fan or not). the main vocalists of the grp are in top male vocalists in kpop.even other members who are not vocalists in the grp can singlike a main vocalist of some other grp. their friendship is sooo genuine you can literally feel it through the screen. biggest proof is that they show skinship even off camera and they literally renewed their contract even before their contract ends. the variety of concept we got in 2022 pretty much answers how they keep their comebacks exciting. most of the carats are chill but that doesnt mean we would tolerate shit abt our idols. i wouldnt hesitate for a sec to call them artists, they have the passion for music, dance, overall art and it really shows. it really angers me how so many times they are overlooked but i kinda got used to it now. honestly, being in the industry for 7 years and not being involved in controversies explains a lot abt their awareness. svt literally saved their company and stood up on their feet with their own hardwork. they were recognised bcoz of their music. they are a comfort place for me.

If you think bts butter and dynamite success came from kpop stans and just army then you are very much wrong no song fandom oriented topes the charts like that specially US charts army is big but not that big and proof is that dynamite on it's first day had 1500 US radio spins even if I'm not the biggest fan of their English songs but it was a smart move that got them that success most ppl outside of kpop actually only enjoy bts English music which means bts got music for everyone

The following what others say without doing any research I would have to agree with. For example the whole woojin thing he got accused for s*xual assault and a bunch of other things all because he decided to leave SKZ for personal reasons which I think is most likely because he didn't fit the style SKZ was going for. Which is why I do research on a idol and their scandal and what they did in there past before becoming a idol and don't jump to conclusions like others. For #14 I agree to a certain extent. These companies are huge and every group they put out will always gain attraction no matter what, but at the same time the competition between the trainees in that company is probably huge. Yes, they get a ticket to success immediately but at the same time, isn't that why most people try to get in those companies. It's way harder to get into those companies and let alone get in the debut lineup.

Unpopular opinion: I think Yujin is overrated. There were so many more interesting girl on gp999. The only reason she got in was because she used to be in CLC. You guys really have the audacity to get mad at Bahiyyih for debuting and saying it’s just because of her brother. While Yujin is only debuting because CLC just disbanded.

I agree with #8. A lot of idols truly aren’t artists, unless you want to give them the watered down version of what an artist is. Watered down definition of artists: someone who is skilled or practices an art form Non-watered down: someone who produces and creates an art form Idols not being artists but performers isn’t really a diss, it’s just an acknowledgment of where their skills lie. It’s just like how in America certain people have “singer/song writer” attached to their names, it announces that they create their craft. Or how certain rappers are called performers because they don’t write their own raps but perform them, same thing with singers. It’s okay for them to be just idols and not artists. I don't even have to read into it that much to see that the comment from the Mrstealyogorl just hates BTS. That was not criticism that was just hate. The fact that they only have 3 English songs and it's making that persons that mad is so strange. They literally have released tons of Korean songs since Dynamite. Like a whole Korean Album too. I honestly feel like pointing out other idols mistakes when your idol is getting attacked can be a good response depending on the context for example if a namjoon stan talk shit about a bang chan stan then the bangchan stan can call them out on regard of stanning another "problematic" idol but if they are just calling out of the shake to change the subject then its not it

Very Unpopular opinion: These companies aren't as evil as yall make them out to be. I see people complaining that " so and so group never releases any music the ceo must hate them and be trying to sabotage them". The only reason this happens is because the group isn't making any money. And I don't think it's evil to do that. As a business, why would you spend money on a group they you know won't be returned? Why would you jeopardize the jobs of everyone working at the company over 1 group of people? That's a very selfish thing to expect. And for the bit about people thinking companies purposefully sabotage their groups that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Sure groups can be mismanaged due to negligence but again from a business standpoint why would you do that? When a group is "pushed into the basement" it's most likely because no one was buying albums, nor merchandise, etc.

7:58, in my experience of listening through BTS, it was evident that they care deeply about their lyrics, because from the very first album lyrics stay in a range of theme of the song, having meaning, and depth, and every solo project from them has different lyrics, different themes, different use and meaning, and also StrayKids have that. 9:01 and this, MonstaX produces their music, like for gods sake, Wonho was a producer in the group, Jooheon and IM are credited in 90% of lyrics(its about 50/50 between them) Again BTS and StrayKids rap lines have most of credits for writing and producing etc. so the rap lines are members of a Korean Copyright association, and Moonbyul is 34th of 100 place in a list of copyrighted idols.

Unpopular opinion: i dont like Next Level. The changes of the beat and the lyrics are not for me. It's not a good song imo, i guess that's a respectful way to say it.

I really appreciate your channel. I feel like I matured a lot as a kpop fan, seeing some of these opinions I felt like I was finally over some of my initial misconceptions.

I feel irritated by the standards stans have for idols. all the damn time. The fact that they can dance and sing together itself was so surprising to me when I got into kpop, and the idols being likeable made it more enjoyable for me. But when I see stans nitpicking and complaining about all these things that we usually never got, expecting idols to be all these perfect things AND the idols and companies themselves also acting like it should be normal ,is upsetting. It not only is dehumanising the idols but it is making kpop much huger than it should be. Its just music and performances. Sure, there's a lot of effort that goes in, but that doesn't mean you gotta dedicate your life to this culture. it's almost become a ego competition to swear by your faves. Listen to what you like, or don't, just stop complaining so much and wasting your precious time.

Imo, people can't blame the kpop fandom for being immature, given that the companies literally MARKET towards young teens. The only reason I'm here as a 20 yo is because I fell in love with kpop as a 12 yo. Ofc there's more mature groups, with mature concepts, but you can't tell me that bts or blackpinks music nowadays isn't literally made for 14 year olds. By that I don't mean that you can't listen to these songs when you're older, hell, I do, it's just that the immature vibe is in the music ITSELF! I love BTS's music since 2014 when I listened for the first time their songs but when Boy with love came out I didn't liked it but I loved On and BLACK SWAN. I didn't liked Life Goes On and same for Dynamite Butter and Permission To Dance and recently My Universe. It's not because it's in english cause I like a lot of english music but it does not have the same taste than their Korean songs idk 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm kinda sad and hope that they're gonna release Korean songs now.. the 8th one. i agree and disagree. some kpop stans didn't know how musics work and it shows. some songs were intentionally to not be meaningfull. and those songs were made for ppl to enjoy it. like some western songs mostly song like WAP or taki taki. those kind of songs wasn't that much to called meaningfull. it's a thing. so ig kpop stans have to stop felt threatened againts meaningless songs. not all songs have to be meaningfull anyways. but i get where s/he came from tho. ik some kpop stans care alot cuz of how they attached alot with kpop songs and abt the lyrics and i do agree abt the recycle lyrics. but i cant say much abt it since i really dont care. sometimes i care sometimes im not. but i advice just stick w a song you like that u feel atttached to. at the end of the day,im still here for music.

8th opinion is very common but so annoying. like yes the songs are written by companies specifically for monetary success, good lyricism doesn’t bring you that. there are idols and groups who write/produce their music like seventeen, bts, stray kids, got7 for bgs and as stated mamamoo, g-(i)dle + numerous female soloists. their songs’ meanings go above and beyond and you don’t need to dig deep to find well-written and truly touching lyrics. of course title tracks aren’t going to be most meaningful because title track is what defines how well the comeback will sell, and what sells is not thoughtful lyrics. like this is simple logic what is not licking 🙃

About 7, I've had that done to me by army's about 5 years ago. I think it was one of the newer comebacks that just didn't do it for me (fake love maybe, but I don't remember exactly), where people tried to tell me I wasn't an army for literally disliking one comeback (I was a hardcore army back then), so my opinion on this is pretty strong: Being able to admit your group messed up and expressing it through constructive, well meant criticism is actually proof of how loyal you are. Cause you don't like a song, yet still forgive them and trust that they can do better next time, AND take your time to explain why you dislike the song? It's funny because without that feedback, so many groups would go to shit, even the big ones. Artists grow on criticism. It's good for the production team + idols to know what to do better next. 8: many people just care more about melody or the 'vibe' of a song. It's not sad or anything. If I cared more about lyrics, I wouldn't be into kpop. Yes, I can appreciate good lyrics if they're there (onlyoneof has GREAT lyrics), but if there are not, I can still enjoy the song. Also I highly disagree with the 'idols are not artists'. Rather than saying that, i usually just appreciate the WHOLE team for what it is. I appreciate producer's for production, directors for direction, art designers for visuals, makeup artists for makeup etc, and I appreciate the idols for acting out that project to perfection. It's like you'd say 'actors aren't artists, the producers and directors are' well its just that they're ALL artists. You can like or dislike them but they're still artists, even if they sometimes suck at their job.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: i havent watched many survival shows but i have watched i-land, r u next, my teenage girl etc. this is my opinion you DONT HAVE TO AGREE and i would love to hear your opinions but please be respectful - i once texted my friend asking her if she was watching r u next just bcs i wanted to find someone to ramble about the show with she told me she wasnt into that kind of stuff because she said it was scripted and staged and she liked a2k which she believes is the opposite of that if there was no evil editing and no scripted scenes etc in survival shows i am 100% sure that lots of kpop fans wouldnt watch these shows or support it and they would get bored and dont get me wrong i do feel sorry for contestants who experience evil editing and i do think that the bias of contestants is unfair but im not gonna rush to twitter and bash the survival show for that bcs at the end of the day that does nothing and i watch survival shows for pure entertainment, that is the point no? im not sure how to explain this but i hope you understand so as wrong as this sounds im kinda grateful for all the drama in survival shows because i am not gonna be entertained by a bunch of people who are all nice people, are fairly judged etc thats just so boring
