Something which was said in ep 6 or something but could have been overlooked: There are plenty of ninja villages but 5 of them are in the 5 great nations. Not gonna give them all but for example the Leaf village is in the Land of fire, which is why there's no fire village. The village Naruto lives in is the ninja village set in one of the big nations, so the ninjas of this village are part of said nation's military might. Also the five villages are the only ones that have "Kage", which means they are led by a ninja leader and his authority is even higher to the ninjas than the leader of the nation itself, whereas villages set in smaller nations obey to the nation's leader directly, despite not having to be ninjas themselves. This was explained by Kakashi in the beginning of the Zabuza mission. Terms like elements (fire, water...) are generally reserved for the nations and more strange ones are used for the villages and depend on the environment (the leaf is in the middle of a forest and you can pretty much guess the surroundings of the others based on their names)

Characters like Rock Lee who can't use the power that everyone else can but makes up for it by being amazing at something else are always great imo
