Yu-Gi-Oh commercials: With no monsters on field, I summon Dark Magician and attack directly. Real Yu-Gi-Oh: Good luck have fun. Draw, standby, main. Special, special, effect, special, synchro for 9, effect in grave targeting my banish to special, synchro again for 9, effect to play directly from deck, effect to target then special then send one from deck to grave, effect in grave to special itself then special another from grave. Synchro for 9 again, XYZ into VFD. XYZ into another VFD. End phase, standby phase, effect of VFD detach 1. Game two?
with the complexiti of the game, the entry barrier is way to big, also tier list just matters so much that you either have a tier 2-1 deck, or you don't play. rush duel is their attemp to resurect yugioh making it simpler, but if they choose power creep again, rush duel will be just as crazy as TCG\OCG. PS; i really wish they had choosen set rotation instead of power creep, because we would have so many playable archtypes that do different things and it would be just so cool.
@@alucard5841 Please don't spread misinformation like this, because this could deter people from wanting to play the game. The entry barrier is more of on learning the game then it is the price. Yes there is a lot to learn but if you take it step by step you will get the mechanics and such in no time. The whole "Don't play unless you are playing meta" is dumb. Just like back when we were all young and playing, you can play with whatever deck you want in a casual setting with friends and have fun. It's funny how ignorant people are of the past because of nostalgia, that they don't realize there was a huge meta back then just like there is today but unlike now, there were no varieties in decks compared to todays meta. Even rogue decks can top regionals unlike back in the past, if we are talking about either Summoned Skull Beatdown era, Yata-lock era, or Dark Armed Dragon era. You can always play with your old favorite cards just like you did in the past with your friends and don't even have to play with the new mechanics or rules. The aim of any game is to have fun. I see it this way, why care about the meta now if you aren't going to play in it, just like how you didn't care about the meta when you played it back then? Also as a side note a lot of locals are pretty casual and some are super competitive, you just have to find the right OTS that fits you. I've been to locals where I've seen casual decks top and then I have seen locals where everyone was playing only tier 1 and tier 2 decks.
@@kyuubinaruto17 honestly I dont remember but it was the first times Gage won after a long series of defeat ... cant help you honestly sorry, I think it was the set where Dark World was legal no ? where he main decked him ? good luck anyway, if I remember I will tell you
I remember seeing a commercial for Shadow of Infinity back in the day that consisted of 2 kids dueling in a castle and summoning Raviel and Uria. Because if you’re going to duel, you might as well do it in castle.
I remember when I went to the Yugioh movie in the theater, I initially didn't know about the promo card thing. And I didn't get one when I bought the ticket. But then after I already sat down, someone from the theater gave me a huge stack of those movie promo packs (something like 15). I really had no idea what that was about and I completely forgot about that until just now. Also I have to point out that in one of the commercials you showed, a kid actually summoned the head of Exodia. Which is not remotely how any it works. I presume this was before Exodia Necross was released and even then there would be better ways to get it in the graveyard.
ill never forget the time back in 2005 when went to my locals with a harpy lady deck and some kid asked me to duel him with a duel disc xD he had 2 :) bent the f out of all my cards hahaha
When I bother to sit down and watch some English Dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS on television (I know archaic, but it is usually when I am cooking when I take control of the living room/kitchen), they still occassionaly show newer yugioh commercials, the only thing is, they're nowhere near as high quality as the older commercials.... in the western culture that is, Japan is still pumping out commercials similar to the pharaoh's servant and phantom darkness that you can check out on the yugioh OCG channel here on RU-vid. They're a fun watch.
@@HugoHenriqueMacedo That was my bad, I edited my mistake as I meant to say on TV while I am cooking. HOWEVER there are a few choices - Pluto TV? I think is the name, but they're supposed to recieve the inferior dubbed series of VRAINS
With the Japanese, even in ads they give their best to make them look appealing and cool while also giving out the vibes of the franchise they belong to
I went to see Yu-gi-oh! The Movie with my mom, and we both got Pyramid of Light for the promo. I went to the counter to see if I could swap my card and the guy said “I mean, I can just give you more” and handed me a stack of 30+ of the promo packs. I was freaking out and I could barely carry them all! Greatest day of my young life!
Kids Wb was my childhood and it along with Fox kids/4 Kids tv are what got me into subbed anime. I actually remember seeing the first two commercials hell I used to have that one vhs tape I got in the mail once that promoted the dm anime when it first aired.
I remember when I saw that Duel Disk commercial I lost my SHIT. I was SO excited, I literally begged my parents for it and I worked so hard to earn it. When they said they put the order in I was on cloud nine, and after what felt like weeks and weeks of waiting, when I finally got it I felt like I was king of the world. And to this day, I’ve still got it-some of the paint is chipped, the cloth thing where it goes around your wrist is gone and two of the stickers fell off, but other than that it still works and I always make sure to take care of it. And hell yeah I dueled my friends with it (they all had their own, too) on the play ground, outside in the backyard, on the streets, even at restaurants sometimes with it and I loved that shit. You only get one childhood: make it count.
10:27 The western commercials couldn't tie themselves to the anime too much due to existing advertisement laws. If they did that, the show would be legally treated as a 30 minute toy commercial. This is also why the anime's cards get edited to look nothing like they actually are, IRL. If they looked like the cards being sold, then the show would be legally recognized as an advertisement for kids. For all intents and purposes, it was, but legally they were in the clear.
4:07 God that takes me back, I remember seeing that movie in theaters, and getting the cards from the move by doing so... God, the nostalgia! 7:27 I had 2 sacred beasts at one point, Raviel and Hamon, I never had Uria though...
bro i got checked outta school early to go see it in theaters the friday it came out. AND I pulled the Blue-eyes shining dragon lmao WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE
I remember being in like 3rd or 4th grade and bringing my duel disk to school to "duel" with all my friends that had their duel disks. Shit was so damn fun back then, but now people are actually surprised to hear that Yu-gi-oh is still alive and well with new cards being printed every few months. Some guy that's friends with my younger brother was shocked to hear I still collect cards lol.
About the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon lottery: funny childhood story: When the movie came out I watched it with my best friend in theaters and we got our pack. But for some reason, we couldn't find the right movie room (sorry non-English native speaker here) so we went back to the desk where we got our movie tickets. The woman behind the desk (an unknowing student) was so annoyed because she thought we wanted more packs (we just wanted to know the right room but she didn't let us finish our sentence). So in her rage, she gave us 20 packs each! I went home with 4 copies of each card. Best movie EVER!!! Although the cards are not valuable you can imagine the jealousy on the playground at school the next day... Sweet memories
I was born in 2000, so I don't remember any of these commercials. It blows my mind that they even had commercials because I never saw anything like that growing up. I didnt even know Yugioh existed until around the 5ds era of the trading card game and I got a lot of random cards from a cousin who didnt play anymore or something. But even then, I didnt get into playing Yugioh until Arc-V came out. It's weird how 2000's commercials and shows can throw me back in time.
cards for the movie were arranged in card number order: 1st Blue eyes shinning, 2nd Sorcerer of dark magic, 3rd watapon, 4th pyramid of light, got multiple shinning dragons this way
When I saw Yu-Gi-Oh The Movie I went with my mom and brother, so we got 3 promo cards. We managed to get every card EXCEPT for Shining Dragon, and I swear every single friend I had somehow got Shining Dragon when I didn't.
Viewer in Japan here. About the Japanese commercials, they are aired on TV during the time block the anime is showing. The reason why cards like Yubel are very prominent in the commercial is because it was a very recognizable character from the anime. More children would likely recognize Yubel more than DAD. That was their way of trying to sell more (or more accurately having the children nag their parents to buy it). And it's like this for any children's programming such as Pokemon or Kamen Rider. If there were any adults who are fans of these, most likely they already know what is good or desirable so those things don't need to be in the commercial.
Fun little factoid, with older cgi it was an industry trick of using lots of shadows and dark colors to hide the limitations. Ignoring this practice gave us abominations like the scorpion king.
I actually came across one of those OG Duel Disks at an anime convention a few years ago. Knowing that they usually go for hundreds online, I asked the vendor how much. He literally said, and I quote, "$35 because it doesn't have any batteries". Wound up snatching a copy of Forbidden Memories for PS1 for $15 alongside it.
"The more you got, the stronger you get." Should've told me before I sold my entire collection for $75 ...but that would also explain why I lost all my knowledge after I started playing Magic.
I had the regular and GX Duel Disk. My homie had the Chaos duel disk. I even drew the Seal of Orichalcos on my driveway in green chalk. Lmao My other friend and I even dueled with the duel disks while riding our bikes when the 5Ds came out. (Not using our actual good cards ofc. 🤣) Damn man, Those were the good ol' days. Actually having FUN outside. I can remember that shit like it was yesterday. 😆
I remember buying my 1st duel disc @ walmart,@ the time it was $30.then around 2009,i saw sum guy @ a flea market selling a bulk of duel discs (i think 6 or 8) for $20.i always traded them @ anime convention swap meets for sumthin big
did anyone else see ads for Hoopla Sports Cards on Kids WB when they were little? I remember the ad featured some old guy saying the names of cards "Black Luster Soldier. Red Eyes Skull Dragon. Buster Blader. Where can I find such good card? So I can beat these... little people." and then it cuts to young children throwing down cards and him shaking his head in defeat. I've never been able to find the ad since, so maybe it was just a local store.
the first gold series came out in 2008, but if you noticed he also had a gold series 4 pot of avarice in the graveyard as well......that kid had some money.
I remember the power of the duelist commercial. I think I also saw the commercial with raviel as the promo card and one commercial where they showed dian keto the cure master for a split second.
I've watched the Duel Disk commercial, the Chaos Duel Disk one, and even the Legendary Dragon attached to Duel Disk one. Yeah, the last one is pretty odd when written out like that.
As soon as the Duel Disk commercial ended I got an ad for hand sanitizer Some of these commercials are pretty neat but god I cannot imagine this stuff on Tv nowadays
