Love this reaction! Penomeco, especially Shy (eh o) and BOLO was definitely inspired by Burna Boy and the Nigerian Pop/Afro-Pop! Love how he embrased the culture while putting his a Korean spin on it Keep the reactions up!

Definitely felt the Burna Boy inspiration. Feels like appreciation to me. Thanks for including the quotes from his interview too, that’s some extra work 99% of react channels won’t do.

Hot take: I seriously don't know why the songs are so problematic, Lisa, maybe, like there was some stuff behind that but the duo who did BOLO I'm not even sure why people coming at them, like I'm Nigerian, I dont really have a problem, it's just artist creating art. 😕

This is the definition of cultural appropriation:the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of the customs, practices, ideas, etc. of one people or society by members of another and typically more dominant people or society. Don't even try rn cuz Peno ain't do nun wrong

@@thebrainwave9468 + What’s a rich kid who’s not exposed. Isn’t he or she stupid. It’s only a matter of semantics and depends on your own neck of woods.In Amuwo Odofin where I come from we use that term sparingly to describe someone who’s not streetwise/street savvy.
@thebrainwave9468
@thebrainwave9468 2 года назад
@@james56660 now you talking... "not streetwise" is quite different from "dumb or foolish" The origin meaning of "Bolo"(mostly used by Yoruba) is a rich kid....now those days we all know ajekpako seems always smarter and streetwise than rich kids for e.g.. A public sch student from a private sch student, So that's where the meaning is coined Bolo is originally another word for Ajebutter

@sag6303
@sag6303 2 года назад
I think it sad that BOLO used the Nigerian language in the song, instead of singing it in their language using afrobeats. Song copied of Wizkid vibe, need to be original. Sorry I didn’t like it, because Korean is known to copied artist and make it their own. Hate it!
@shestargirl8479

When afro-beats really catch on in Korea, they'll be calling it K-afro and market that to their peoples. Since many people want to say that AA can't comment on Africans saying this song is appreciation not appropriation, then fine I won't, but they better keep that same energy when afro-beats become synonymous with Korea. Just saying...
@abby4115
@abby4115 2 года назад
95% of the songs are in korean, 4% are in English 1% in Nigerian pidgin. If you don't like it that's fine. Being disingenuous about the reasons is a little weird and unnecessary tho.

@@shestargirl8479 this has to be the most disrespectful thing I have ever read about afrobeats. Do you have any idea how long and hard the development of afrobeats in West Africa is? We're winning grammys and making songs with so many western artists. Fela, sonny ade, burna biyn davido and so many more are regarded as one of the greatest artists in history. It doesn't matter how good or great Koreans are at making afrobeats for years to come but black Africans will always be the pioneers, owners and most famous artists making afrobeats. Because it's ours and ours alone. Other people can be inspired but no one will ever be able to do it better than us okay? So please don't repeat Korea trying to take over our own music because it simply can't happen. The same way khiphop and rap is good but can never beat the greatest in black rap music. It's just not comparable period.

It's not? The artists gave CREDIT and made it VERY CLEAR that they were inspired by NIGERIAN music. Culture should be shared. They appreciated, 100%. They gave credit where it was due and remained respectful. Seems like you don't know anything about the artists and just hopped on the hate bandwagon.
