My big sister picked out her locks with a thumbtack. She's claims she used a thumbtack only, but we think a comb was involved. Anyway I think it took her a few days to do. She didn't show us the final result until it was done & she washed it up and stuff. The locs did her justice though, because her hair was long ASF. But over time she got over it and chopped it off, she's the type to never keep a style for more than a month. She is now a licensed Cosmetologist with her own business. 🤷🏾‍♀️ So it can be done. Just gotta have time and patience

Also for the girl with the blonde locs… she should’ve canceled her yellow tone out with RED before going straight to black… this will help get rid of the green hues!
@stagnantfox3027
@stagnantfox3027 Год назад
As a professional hairdresser I have to mention, you can go back to black after bleaching hair, you need to dye your hair red first before you apply the black dye. The reason for this is because all hair has 2 melanins called eumelanin (Blue, purple, cold pigments) and pheomelanin (red, orange, yellow, warm pigments) and so when you do have bleached hair and then go straight for dying it black you're missing a lot of warm pigment in black hair so it ends up coming off as blue or green. I can get more into detail about it but that's essentially the gist of it, sometimes this method is called "prepping" the hair. This doesn't just apply to black dyes, whenever you want to go darker, always add varying degrees of red, if you want to go from blonde to medium brown, add some less intense red pigment like a pastel red (heavily diluted), if you wanna go black, add straight up red dye before the black.

I don't know where you live but in my state, employers aren't allowed to ask/tell people to change their look. If the job has a uniform then obviously you have to wear it, but you can still do whatever you want with your hair and face (for example, if you have facial piercings you can leave them in and your job can't say anything about it as long as you're in your uniform). If it's a job where you have to wear a helmet, hard hat or other protective equipment, all you have to worry about is that your hairstyle comfortably fits under the hat/helmet/whatever... I think your dad was trolling you. lol

There's a technique for taking blonde hair back to light brown, med brown, and dark brown, etc. The trick is filling the hair shaft with another color first. It sounds crazy, but it prevents your hair from turning greenish or blueish brown. When you bleach hair, you're leaving the shaft hollow from pulling the pigment out. You need to refill the shaft with a base color before going brown. At least that's how it was explained to me when I made that exact mistake and ended up with greenish brown hair. It was heartbreaking to see my hair like that. Lesson learned. Years later when I decided to go from blonde back to light brown I did it correctly. The color was a beautiful light brown. The process of going dark brown from blonde requires that you dye the blonde hair RED first. Yes, red. If you're going light brown use a golden or light auburn color. It fills the shaft with a base color for the brown to lay on. First you dye with the filler color, rinse, and dry. Second you apply the brown color of your choice over the red/golden/auburn color. I promise, it works. Anyone who needed this information.. You're welcome and happy hair coloring! Ps: Brad Mondo has some great videos explaining the mechanics in detail on his RU-vid. There's also great articles online by searching Google.

@@karmakameleon113 Unfortunately I'm one of those hair disaster stories. Lesson learned a little late, but better late than never. I don't wish my hair disaster on anyone. It looked brown in low light, but in the sun in looked this sickly, nasty, greenish color. What a nightmare! I paid big $$ to a colorist to get it fixed. Thankfully this wonderful professional explained everything I did wrong & how to avoid this happening in the future. It worked beautifully too when I finally felt comfortable doing my own hair years & years later. Best of luck to those brave enough to experiment on their hair. Sometimes it's a wonderful experience, sometimes you end up with muddy, green, ugly, splotchy hair. If you are left with any hair at all! Oh boy, I've seen that too. Watched a close friend ignore my advice & TRIPLE PROCESSED her already damaged hair. Total ramen noodles for hair. Falling out everywhere. It's a science & an art. Sometimes ppl forget that.

If you bleach your hair, you have to dye it red before going back to brown/back. It won’t turn green or blue that way.

@@jamieguapoStart with your thickest ones first or start back to front. Energy is gonna drastically go down having your arms up for ever. So starting with the though ones and or ones you can see is easiest. Do your absolute best to not tug on any. I ended up loosing 3 locs from that. Dry worked best for me but experiment with conditioner and or water. Oh this which is obvious, but take brakes often because your arm is gonna feel like it's about to fall off! 🤣 Don't over do it. 💜

I combed all my locs out a around Christmas 2021. I had 200 locs, they had been in for over 2 years, and it took me 1-2 hours per loc. I'm really happy I did it. I ended up with hip length hair, but I cut it back to armpit length. I nourashed it back to health, and now it's waist length again. I was shocked at the state of my hair after combing them out. My hair just didn't want to hold a curl. I had crazy shrinkage and frizzy hair. It took a few months before it behaved like normal again. I made the right decision for me 100%

I combed out my dreadlocks 14 years ago. They were beautiful. I had bad dreams about not having my locks. It took me 3 years before I put them back in. I did it dry and only used a thin comb. I've had my new locks for 11 years now .

I combed out my locs. Put sisterlocs in and no regrets. Mind you they were comb coils and budding at 6 months. The loctitian at the time used a rat comb and kept breaking my hair, then wanted to cut ✂️ it to even it out. I was upset understandably. Took my mom my aunt plus friend at the salon 3 hours lots of conditioner too. Mind you in Africa 🌍 tooo.. I am happy the sisterlocs I got. I am on 1 year 4 months and will never ever comb em out.

I combed out my locs last year. I used a rat tail comb(metal tipped) and conditioner; during the process, I would spritz my hair with water just so it could absorb the conditioner a little better. Overall, it took me a good couple of weeks to comb them out of my hair entirely.

I remember being at a burger restaurant directly after my wash and set. And the young lady who served me admired my hair. I told her about my journey and she said ‘I was thinking about getting locs to comb them out for the hair growth.’ And I was like 😵‍💫🙅🏾‍♀️ nah chill. I told her that I was blessed to not have damaged my hair too much and retained my length. But I was like don’t go into with that mindset. You’ll hate them. And then there’s no guarantee that once combed out it will be the ‘hair you dreamed it would.’ Combing them out is a difficult decision…at least it was with me. It took me 3 weeks to comb out my 77 locs. I liked my locs A LOT. But I didn’t love them. I didn’t really get the style I wanted, so I figured I should comb them out and try again. But my pre-loc shoulder length hair is now half way down my back. The locs might lose this fight. I’ll try again when I hit 40. 😂

Combed out my locks twice. The first time was a breeze. The second one was 😭😭. I ended up cutting them off. The first set of locks didn't have any build up. I only used oils. The second one I used gel , oils and different products. I think that had something to do with the takedown.

Hairdresser here, I take care of lots of mats Because I am curl focused! Hair gets tighter when you wet it, having straight conditioner is best but the real product to use is definitely a comb, a bag, and a brush. Braid each free section as well. I wouldn't actually recommend straight conditioner either btw, just Incase anyone reads my comment. I would recommend detangler, it isn't going to over soften your hair or make it brittle from to much keratin. If you are healthy haired individual and not color/ chemically altered you can get away with a bit to much moisture or keratin products but for those who have lightened their hair specifically, be very very careful with those pieces of hair as they are much more brittle and cannot have to much or to little of each, so having high end products (not expensive, just ingredient wise very clean and straight to the point like she's moisture and Cantu, or the new clean beauty line from Paul Mitchell) if you have blond-i-fied yourself then I would very much recommend gentler shampoos and shampooing twice as well as using a conditioner that is also a leave in so you don't have to fully rinse your hair at the end, great for the curly folks

Tip there are not dread locs but locs or roots. Combing them out soak hair in water and apply a hair conditioner wait for it to dry a little beginning at the tip of the loc with the back end of a large needle preferably those used for weaving hair or mats etc. Take your time and finger detangle before combing out. Best of luck.
