On their Instagram it said they were five sisters. I think they’re trying to get away from an abusive relationship with their father and ended up killing him. Well Wendy did and they were cleaning up the mess
The thing with Red Velvet's choice of title tracks is they choose the song that best represents their identity and uniqueness and that is why Chill Kill was chosen instead of Knock Knock.
Personally, I liked Chill Kill more than Knock Knock, but I understand having a different perspective. Chill Kill is kinda insane... I just love it so much
21:17 just a fun fact, irene is actually the same age as seohyun, which they are both 32 years old! she's also about 3 months older than seohyun, despite seohyun debuting 7 years earlier!
But Irene is 32 years old so yes they are mature enough and they can sing anything they want. I love your reaction to Redvelvet. Of course i love the b-sides more than title track as always
13:30 “ let me clarify before I get cancelled” LMAOOO 😭😭! But I do agree I loved the B-sides better than the title track from like first listen! Anyways love your reactions
I always like the title tracks the most. I feel like they truely showcase their unique styles as artists and are always very different to what we are used to. The B-Sides are amazing as well, but choosing them would be a 'save choice' imo. Instead they try to stand out with more experimental tracks. ❤
About the lore that has been shared btw: "Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri are 5 sisters." The day of the murder is on their sister, Yeri's, birthday, but she wasn't able to have a cake, so they make one with candles. Every sister has their own (pretty interesting/sad) character card on Instagram which seems to be being told from Joy's POV as she records her sisters. Joy's entry: "I've been smiling on the outside, but I was afraid every day that my precious moments with my sisters would disappear. Joy, who looked at the world with one eye because she was afraid to face reality, began to record the time the sisters spent together" The things said about each sister make people believe they were being held captive (maybe by a controlling father). It's possible that when the house shook, the door to the basement broke open. Wendy is able to get out and through a struggle, kills the man. (The chair Seulgi pulled at the beginning of the MV is in the room at the head of the table where Wendy's standing.) Part of Wendy's entry: "Wendy's presence was an escape for the sisters to forget the distress, but Wendy, caught up in excessive responsibility after an incident, loses her laughter" Irene: “Irene was silent. She did not show on the outside her mind/heart's unrest because she believed that her not falling apart was a way to protect her sisters. After becoming an adult, she could only fall asleep if I fell asleep with the imagination of a fairy saving them. No one knew about this imagination.” Edit: Seulgi: "Seulgi loved her sisters. She believed it was natural to promise the five of them would be together no matter what the situation, and that it was the only happiness. Whenever she would suddenly want to leave the house, she soothed herself with loud music and took the night watch while her sisters fell asleep." Yeri: Yeri was ordinary and bright. Thanks to growing up with the love of my sisters, I was able to live like my age even in the dark reality. I firmly believed and imagined that one day I would meet someone I love like others and start a normal family.” Yeri is then shown wearing a veil, Irene has fairy wings, and Joy has an eye patch. Wendy and Seulgi's characters also relate to what they are doing or holding when they burn the house down. Even though the cops find them, they finally feel free and accept their fate together.
2 Fun facts: 1. They said they considered Knock Knock as the Title track but love Chill Kill more so ended up with it, they said it's just very "Red Velvet". It's also Written by Kenzie, she worked with SNSD a lot.. 2. Irene is actually older than Seohyun. Both are 32, Wendy and Seulgi are 29, Joy 27 and Yeri is 24.
Hi Austin! Great to see you. Red Velvet just did a Killing Voice Dingo performance this morning in case you didn't know. Keep working hard on and off RU-vid!
I'm waiting for the Red Velvet Killing Voice reaction. It's so good I almost started to cry. Wendy also did an episode for the Lee Mujin Service and....LORD you have to watch it, she's so good it's almost scary, inhuman. BTW I so knew you were going to love One Kiss.
In the full vid you said that Scenery sounded familiar to you, and I think it's because a lot of the intervals they use in that song are used in what I like to call K-Drama music. When you hear those chord progressions you're like "yeah this is the emotional Korean music genre" which we get a lot from Chen and Sejeong and whatnot. I love it personally, it really gets me on an emotional level. I feel like a lot of the Korean indie music I listen to also uses similar chord progressions!
Always love how honest you are. Chill Kill, was an instant like for me but I loved it even more after listening again. Knock, Knock, however, is just that song. It's great and it makes me wish both songs could have MV's. The Chill Kill Trailer where the girls are acting and seem to be stuck does seem to be a part of the storyline of what happened in the MV. (I won't say anything in case you decide to react to it, but it's fantastically creepy. Reminds me of a mini horror film with everything that's going on.
actually i relate more with u coz we're same and nightmare is also my #1 song for this album because of the overall concept and yeah i agree it is such an experience like it brings you in a fairytale like story centering about nightmares. i just love abt the overall structure of the song, the vocals, esp the pre-chorus build-up and the chorus where the girls comfort someone that it's just a nightmare and it will go away. i love the whole album!
oh..the teasers do have a story line though..🥺but it's okay haha u can still get the most part of it just watching the mv~apart from that the music are phenomenal as rv always did kk🥰
Knock knock is actually the tittle track, but the girls love Chill Kill more, so they decided to change the tittle track. Make sense for me, cause i feel like Chill Kill is telling a story about something, and i always get goosebumps on Joy's part in Chill Kill.
Tbh Chill kill sound very weird and complex to me in first listen, only barely good enough for me to give it a try second time. But second time will do the magic I can assure u.
