This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. Even the song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, tearing free and trying to take control, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech"). You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet. The pig character (imo) represents the doctors and therapist who have essentially butchered him for years through their misdiagnosis. It's the system that focuses on peddling more pills than on genuinely trying to help to fix broken/ill people, caring more about profit than individual health. The bastardization of the hippocratic oath. He literally thought he was going insane because he was told repeatedly that the pain and symptoms he was experiencing were all in his head (psychosomatic). He had reached a point where he literally resigned himself to dying before he reached 30. Turns out he had Lyme's disease the whole time and it ran rampant through his system for 10 years, even to the point of causing brain damage. Ironically, if Ren hadn't gone through what he has, would he have ever made the art he has? There's no question that his suffering has shaped his music and now he's finally getting the recognition he undoubtedly deserves. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Ren is special.

Thank you for such a careful and thoughtful reaction. Not one reactor noticed that shiver - I did not see it either until you pointed it out and I have watched this countless times. Ren's music always finds a way straight to the heart. Highly recommend trying "Chalk Outlines" next, and the Money Game trilogy, pt 1, 2(lyric video), and 3, and then diving into his whole catalog. Really, for many of us, his music is just next level artistry. I have to go back to Pink Floyd and Queen to find the kind of depth and range of human emotions that Ren is able to express. Imposter syndrome is very real and probably most of us have gone through it at some point in our lives This video was made for around £50 quid for the camera his mate Samuel Perry Falvey bought and filmed in the basement of a mates flat, and is all LIVE. He loves doing live videos particularly one take....it's what hes become known for over this last year of his sudden fame Ren is self taught after being confined to his bedroom for years due to autoimmunity disease as a result of misdiagnosed Lyme Disease. He is an all round rarity in that he's a complete performer from acting, rapping, beatboxing to teaching himself as many instruments as he could get his hands on from youtube videos to writing all his own beats and is totally independent. He is Welsh, lives now in Brighton but is currently in Canada undergoing experiemental stem cell treatment for the after effects of the undiagnosed Lyme Disease. He's a big believer in lifting up others and has brought his friends with him such as Chinchilla, Viktus and videographer Samuel Perry Falvey. He's a phenomenon and totally independent too

Great reaction, Ren is incredible. He's quickly become my favourite artist of all time over the last year. He actually originally wrote this with him killing himself once the dark side overwhelmed him and he showed it to a friend who said "why is your stuff always so depressing?" And he was like, "fuck, you're kind of right" and wrote the last verse which is more true to where he is now.
Ren was misdiagnosed with M E and given wrong medication and this went on for 7 years til he went into psychosis. This is the background of the song. Check out money game 3 to see his genius.

Here’s some info and songs for you 🖤 🔥🔥🔥 Welcome to the Renaissance! Ren is my favourite artist of all time. I say artist because he is a multifaceted diamond! From singing (all styles) to rapping (bars/flows/schemes for days), Bardcore (story telling) beatbox, makes his own beats, scatting and a multi instrumentalist (guitars, bass, drums, melodica and more). On top of that he is the most beautiful human being inside and out who has been through and continues to go through absolute hell. Ren is 33 from Anglesey, Wales originally but spent most his life in Brighton, England. He has been very ill for years, at one point being completely bed ridden. He was misdiagnosed for years, being told he was bipolar, had M.E and more and was prescribed medications that made him worse and ended up in psychosis. It turns out Ren had Lyme disease which has caused havoc on his body. He’s been living in Calgary, Canada all year receiving intense medical treatment for his brain damage and mast cell activation disorder amongst other things that were caused by the Lyme disease. He started off making beats at 12 and selling CDs then moved on to busking. He was part of a band called Trick The Fox and was signed to Sony but they didn’t renew the contract after his health deteriorated. He then started The Big Push. They went on hiatus the end of last year after 5 years partly due to his move to Canada and also because the other members are also soloists and were moving around too. I have a list of songs to check out of all styles. You are one of only a handful of reactors that caught that it was not the devil that was tormenting Ren, but a malevolent voice that was attempting to personify the devil. It’s not religious but is using religious imagery and ideas to convey the incredible torment his inner voice was causing. For REN, this was truly his reality. Ren had misdiagnosed Lyme disease for 7 years by conventional doctors who deemed him mentally ill, but when patients are experiencing neurological symptoms, they very often become misdiagnosed. Lyme disease can present itself as many neurological conditions including Acute Transverse Myelitis[3], Ptosis[4], Seizures, and Chronic Fatigue[1] and these symptoms can be often misdiagnosed or deemed psychosomatic. Second is dealing with the symptoms of Lyme neuroborreliosis, these neurological symptoms often leave patients feeling drained and debilitated as they begin losing their quality of life. Over time, patients find themselves unable to do the things they love as they struggle to get ahead of their progressing symptoms.

Congratulations for not jumping to "split personality" right away like too many people. It is "inner critic" not another personality. Many of us have an inner critic that makes us hear (in our own voice) that we are not good enough for our position. It wasn't until he tried to crush his inner critic that it became a "inner demon" instead. Now the inner demon might have been a new voice in his head (schizophrenic) causing bad and chaotic thoughts. Not split personality, or a 2nd personality in the person, just a new voice in their head affecting thoughts. But then as he matures (and gets treatment) he quiets the inner demon and accepts his inner critic. Finds the confidence to rise above them both.
Strongly suggest lives from ren, like this, checking out the big push and and the jenny and screech trilogy-do not split the 3 up though lol its all so different from the autotuned crap we hear all the time with lyrics from entirely different people who dont care if it connects with people or not. This is a different caliber of artist. Every song he and his band produces is surprising and the way they do it is intentional

As I can see I'm late for the welcoming party :D As some others pointed out, due to his misdiagnosis he went into psychosis, that's when the song Seven Sins was born (first song if his Sick Boi album). He dropped a Fred Again Mash Up a couple of days ago, this would be a nice follow up to really feel how versatile he is! You never know what you get from a Ren song, you're in for a wild ride my friend!
First off, I truly appreciate how you didn't use the CC and went straight to the real lyrics (CC for Ren's songs are c.r.a.p). I see many other people already commented with many of my thoughts, so I will just say that you are a very intuitive and sensitive/empathetic person. Be proud of that.

Welcome to the multitalented genius Ren. This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. I trust that other RENegades will fill you in on his backstory and probably recommend Sick Boi for insight into his frustrations from being misdiagnosed for years. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning. I was believing you might be ok as a reactor. The hope prediction blew it. Just be honest about Ren thats all you gotta do. He doesn't need another diagnosis (trust me) just for this song to help make your life better.

My symptoms are not as strong as Ren's but I have dissociative disorder with social anxiety. Sometimes it is not that easy to shut off, I wish it was. While other times you don't even realize you are in the mania part of it all. Rens issues gives the rest of us a voice as well as some really awesome music. Great reaction.
