Bizkit went really hard, there is just something about Robins last song that couldn't be topped with a heavy drop. The execution was flawless right until the last note, live vocals were very tidy, the composition was just great all round. Such a nice song. It is also the song that is left stuck in my head after the whole thing.
@@blitzluvsu2 tbh i just started watching this tournament because i saw a clip of robin on an imageboard, and the creativity is why i kept watching subsequent rounds. Dunno if you want to count me out. Sure keep it narrow.
I think the reason there was less battling this round is because Bizkit has described he and Robin being closest of friends, and it seems like they each have great admiration for the other's work
not only are they really good friends but BizKit looks up to Robin massively and has credited him for being one his main inspirations for Looping. When Robin wins it all, one of the people right there with Robin is BizKit. This was the grand final and everyone there knew it, the final round was merely a formality at that point.
I would have voted for Bizkit, but it was VERY close. I think he has unmatched technical application on the loopstation. No other loopers do quite as much as he does at the same time. He also pulls it off very well. But Robin is flawless in his simplicity, as well as his seemless transitions and he barely makes any mistakes. This is an epic rivalry, one of the best in loopstation history. Like you said though, it really could've gone either way. Almost like an Unstoppable force meeting an Immovable object. (Im so glad they had another battle together and I hope we get to see another one in the future!)
Why is no one talking about Robins’ song design. I have watched now several reaction videos on this battle and no one talks about the perfect design with all the silent recording that gives Robin the opportunity to sing through all his battle songs in contrast to Bizkits looped singing tracks. He kinda finishs the complete looping design in the first 30 sec. That’s so amazing!
Because it is less complex in nature. Robin gets more singing time because the drop is more "simple" (yet ofc beautiful). Bizkit on the other hand keeps adding crazy drops and fucking around a lot with all the knobs. The drops are crazier as well but he did mess up the sounds this year a lot.
Yeah, you can tell there's a lot of respect and love for each other. I think that's why he didn't use Incinerator on him in 2023, he wanted a fair fight instead of energy.
Dlow you have the best and most genuine breakdowns of any videos! I learn a lot from how much information you share of the production and techniques. Thank you
Despite wanting Robin to win I gave this battle to Bizkit just barely but I'm not surprised Robin won at all, he's so clean and his musicality is unmatched in this event so far
Ok, first of all, Happy New year, everybody, hope, this year will be better than the previous one🌲🎉 Second of all, after this GBB Robin has a special place in my heart. He's so musical, literally genius! His lyrics are relatable, his drops hit so hard every time. He and Jairo are probably two artists (three to be exact) I will continue following for a long time after it. Yeah, Bizkit is wonderful, I appreciate him as a soloist and looper, but Robin... He's on another level with clarity, creativity and being pleasant for ears. His second round was INSANE! Thanks for this reaction, Dan!!! It's great, as always 🙂🖤
Hey Dan, i would really like to see your reaction on the 2023 gbb small cypher with Bizkit and ICE, its not long, but goes pretty hard. Big ups to you and the artists.
i love robin so much... wow i'm BLOWN AWAY WHAt TRUE CHANPIONS ... MADE ME TEAR UP ... THEY BOTH DID AMAZING... AND THE RESPECT IS PALPABLE ... I LOVE MUSIO AND TRUE LOVERS OF IT AND RECOGNIZING OF BEAUTY BY WE SOULS IN LOVE WITH IT TOOO THE VERY END..
Bizkits first round won and Robin's second round won for me and the reason why I think Robin won is because the judges probably enjoyed Robin's round in the moment more.
No, Robin won both rounds. 1st round of Bizkit his singing/harmonies were off-key to the point my ears were hurt. Though it was a more interesting and varied song than robin's first round. Bizkit 2nd round was IMO a repetition of drops and lots of very harsh sounding sounds and fx (and a couple of volume mistakes as well there) It wasn't enjoyable to listen to (for me)
After years of being a Swiss beat box fan , from mb14v saro to this …. The levels are insane fuck a girl music is always my first love this is why !!! ❤️
Bizkit's style IS "being too much". That"s why I personally don't enjoy his rounds as much as others, they're too overwhelming. There's such a thing as going too hard.
@@falcon8752 agreed, bizkit style in general does use a lot of glitchy electronic and frankly unpleasant sounds... its part of his style, which is what mirsa was dissing him about in their battle. I agree with mirsa... but also i recognize its my personal taste, and I try to see past my taste to appreciate that bizkit is definitely a mad man on the loopstation. He's super skilled to do what he does...
@@dist__not really, he does make interesting sounds but they are very harsh and are usually just variations of high Q filters. High pitch sound needs to be mixed a very particular way and he just blasts them at full volume. Not putting him down cause he is quite good with the MK1 but mixing is of supreme performance
Outstanding battle, I felt the same that Robin was just a little better in the execution, but by a tiny margin. Bizkit's last track was so hype but the harsh tones near the end were a bit much for me, 2 solid rounds though. But Robin - ye gads I could listen to that voice all day and twice on Sunday. Can't wait to see the finals!
Bizkit came to play. Robin came to win. Such a beautiful piece and dedication by Robin to his late friend. A much deserved win by Robin. Bizkits songs always get me bumpin. The complexity of having to use the MK1 ontop of everything else is becoming a handicap. I love Bizkit's energy, but he needs to upgrade his deck. He's gotten so much out of that MK1 we deserve to see what he can do with an MK2+. I will look forward to this battle every year. I just wish this was a FINAL and not a Semi-Final. They really pull the best out of each other.
@@asylumentalhonestly I don't think bizkit will benefit much from an mk2. His creativity will stay the same. Pretty much nobody had a significant increase in quality from switching to mk2.
@@falcon8752you should see the difference, it’s crazy. ik it might not seem significant, but if bizkit does switch to the mk2, his style of music will definitely be easier on the ears
I can't seem to get into Robins style, but he has a LOT of fans so for people who like that style it must be pretty good lol Well done to the both of them.
@asylumental I agree, and I definitely didn't say it was 🙂 Just because I'm personally not a fan of Robin, It doesn't mean I only like 4 to the floor dance music lol
Robin won it for me, interestingly I agree with Dan, as much as I adore BreZ for his continued work and motivations, equally Robin has surprised me in how much I also relate and prefer his style of music in these rounds. However BizKit being my neighbour from over the pond, also did really well and shocked me with his musical style in round one, I wasn’t expecting that at all! I think he does need to work a little more or his pitching in his vocals but nothing I’m sure some YT videos couldn’t help him with, it’s more his tone when pitching and than looping that to sound more equal to the track, like Robin did in both of his rounds. So pleased for Robin 🫶🏻 P.s sorry for the essay Dan 😂❤ Much love 🥰
I want to enjoy Bizkit’s rounds… for the second round, he simply needs to stop with the intensely high frequencies (but the round was decent besides that). And for the first round, I just can’t get over how flat he was leaning pitch-wise. If he wants to try singing higher in his chest voice, he has to work with a vocal coach (or at least practice A LOT to make his voice stage ready). I wish I could overlook flaws in singing technique like a lot of other beatbox enjoyers can but it just really bothers me. Plus, it’s a huge minus point for anyone outside the community. This might make me sound like a hater but I assure you I love Bizkit and most of his routines
this side of the bracket was so ridiculously stacked lmao - no hate to the people on the other side of the bracket but i feel like these guys had such a harder time in their battles
if the "metal detector" sound 17:25 was a little more timed and slower it would have been insane imo... i mean it still was insane ^^ or am i the only one?
Hey man, On my side loved robin, less fan of the high frequencies. I have a question. Why has no one reaction to thum thum sbx judge showcase? For me it is one of the best beatbox pieces ever created, if not the best. You don’t have to react to it but im just throwing this one in
I slightly preferred Bizkit because I felt like Robin's first round was missing something, while Bizkit second round was so full of surprises. Still, I love both of them do the result doesn't matter
Here’s the facts! I was there with my friends, and we were shocked that the BIAS JUDGES gave the win to Robin, as they were anti USA beatboxers. Majority of people knew that BIZKIT is the WORLD CHAMPION!
Bizkits first round was a huge miss for me other than the drops, robin just doesn’t miss and although it’s not heavy hitting stuff it’s doing more with less. Good battle nonetheless and respect to Robin
I definetly would've given it to Robin aswell but I also didn't enjoy BizKits Rounds at all. Guess it's a taste thing but I really love Robin's stuff and really don't like BizKit's music and execution wise it's a no-brainer that Robin takes this one
I feel like bizkit should’ve won the first round and robin The second. The atmosphere created by Biskit in the first round was much cooler than Robin’s song, But the second one the song was much too chaotic, distorted, and almost painful to listen to at points.
Robins rounds were good yes but guys cmonnnn this isn’t a song contest it’s called GBB it’s a beatbox battle this narrative of songs winning battle contests is becoming stupid can we get back to what made GBB amazing in the first place we need the battle narrative back but all in all GBB 23 was unreal 🔥
I don't agree. I don't think agressive rounds with heavy drops should be more rewarded than emotional melodic rounds. We should measure them both with the same criteria (like judges already do). I think the most important thing is not whether a round is a "battle round" or not. What matters the most is composition and execution everything else is secondary to that.
Bizkit was hella out of tune in his first round. He may be quite good at using his loop station, but he has no harmony and he always sounds kinda out of breath and weak. Not quite sure what people are seeing in his music
Bizkit won this one my opinion because mine opinion is robin second round sounded a little bit the same as the first round. But it WHAS CLOSE if bizkit moves to the mk2 he will be much better his mixing would increase so much
